  1. Good luck. As stated previously, attitude is everything!! Stay off the bike until the doc says it's OK. By then you'll get another 30 years out of the tank!!
  2. I don't think we'd ever accomplish a show like that with these big beast we drive. It was fun to watch though!!!
  3. All that being said, I guess I know what my problem is. I'll be changing the oil next weekend so that should take care of it. I'll make sure it's spot on from here on out. Thanks for the input. BTW - Great idea about the mirror with extendable handle. It's kind of nerve-racking checking it by myself!! Thanks again.
  4. I haven't checked that yet. I've been too excited to look at the correct speed. I'll verify in the next week or so and post back.
  5. Well, in my case then I guess the engine is overfull on oil. When I stand the bike up the oil covers the entire sight glass. I can't see a line until I lower the bike onthe side stand. I've been going with what they say in the book for the amount of oil I add. I never took the residual oil into consideration. Just so I'm sure on this - the recommended quntity of oil is enough to put a line through the center of the sight glass when the bike is standing level, correct?
  6. They're faster too!!!
  7. Installed a Speedohealer on my RSTD this morning. I began the process about 10:15 with a quick ride with the GPS to verify my indicated speed vs actual speed. I found I was 6 MPH off at 60. (60 actual but indicated 66) Returned to my garage and installed the unit. Really easy. I had the installation done by 11AM, programmed the unit and went for a ride. After a couple of minor tweaks, my speedometer is spot on with my Garmin GPS. It's so nice to know I'm running the speed that's indicated on the speedometer. I would certainly recommend this mod to others interested in seeing the proper speed displayed rather than estimating where they think they are. Great product and easy install. Ride safe.
  8. Good afternoon everyone. Went for a little ride today and noticed my kickstand had a bit of oil on it when I stopped. For whatever reason, when I first seen it I didn't think much of it. (Not sure why it didn't register right away.) Anyway, when I came back to the bike there was a couple of drips under the overflow hoses pictured here. It seems the leak was coming from the second hose from the left. I checked my oil and it seemed to be OK. I had the same issue happen last summer - only one time. It was fine after that. This is the first time this year it's happened. There's been no oil change done recently, however it's just about due. The only time it happened last year it was about 1000 miles into the most recent oil change. Then nothing for a long time. Now again. I guess I don't understand what's causing it. Also, can anyone tell me what each of those hoses is the overflow for. I'm assuming gas, oil, antifreeze, and ???. I'm not sure which is which - other than that second one, based on the oil coming from it. Any assistance would be great.
  9. I seen that one but I didn't think that was it. I thought there was another one that I've seen a few people recommend. Wish I had a better memory... By the time I'm 50 I'll probably forget my name.
  10. There's been mention a few times on this forum of a video ALL motorcyclists should watch, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Does anyone have any ideas. I'm sure I'd know it if I heard the title. Ideas please.
  11. Fill the pool... That should do it!!!
  12. Does anyone know if F4Customs makes a tall windshield for the RSTD? I'd like to get a little wider windshield but have been hesitant to go with the Clearview due to a number of posts about terrible shipment times. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears...
  13. Glad to hear it all worked out well. If you pay the $$ for membership on this wonderful site you certainly won't be disappointed.
  14. Does lowering the entire bike affect the ride? My wife and I combined put quite a load on the bike (I comprise a substantial amount of that load) and want to make sure lowering it won't adversly affect the ride or the bike in general. Thoughts on that would be great.
  15. The seat Rick works is awesome. How does one go about lowering the bike an inch?
  16. It'll be the best decision of your butts life.
  17. You're going to LOVE them!!! Have fun.
  18. First and foremost, I'd like to extend a REALLY BIG THANK YOU to Rick Butler. The work he did on my seat over the winter has turned out absolutely perfect. I put 210 miles on the bike today without the slightest concern for the well-being of my arse. I feel no different than had I been sitting on my couch all day watching football (and I know how that feels). I very highly recommend Ricks services to anyone on this site who may have the least bit of discomfort from a long day of riding. ...and now... dum, dum, dum... I decided to take a Harley around the "country" block today just to see what everyone's talking about. It was a 2010 UC Limited with a 103 cu in motor. I'll start by saying it had lots of torque, which I thought was awesome, but my excitement pretty much stopped there. Other than the fact that it was very well made (fit and finish was really nice), I just didn't like the feel. The very first thing I noticed was how far the floor boards were set "into" the bike. It seemed like I was setting bow-legged on the bike just to keep my feet flat on the floor board. The shift lever also felt like it was sucked in toward the motor making the movement of the toe to shift feel strange. Once the ride started, my discomfort increased ten fold. My arms were locked at the elbows and I felt hunched over to reach the grips. I also felt like I was sitting really close to the fairing - almost on top of the tank. Finally, when stopped the vibrations were a bit more than I could deal with. Just didn't like the shake at all. Although at anything above 10mph I couldn't feel any shaking at all. So, that was nice. All in all, I don't believe HD is for me. I'm not trying to knock them down because they really do produce a nice product and I believe Yamaha could learn a few things from them, but they're just not my cup of tea. ...I'll be honest: I was kind of hoping they would be. There are soooo many options, accessories and colors available for HD that the possibilities for customization seem endless. There's nowhere near as much stuff out there for us, IMHO. So, bottom line - THANK YOU RICK BUTLER and NO THANK YOU HD.
  19. Condolences from my family and I.
  20. Love my E3's too. Great tires and a BIG improvement over what I had - Brickstones.
  21. I, too, was able to get the wheels under me for the first time this year. A buddy and I were able to get about 50 miles in while running errands in Eau Claire. We'd have put a few more on but it was pretty breezy up here. I think the 60 barrier was breached, though. My guess is that I'll be out there again tomorrow shooting for a bit more than 50 miles. Should be another nice day. The forecast says mid 60's all week so I'll be able to ride to work too. Savin' gas and lovin' every minute of it!!!
  22. Same here. Flipped mine over using allen wrenches but I don't remember what size. Had them that way for about 2 months and then bought a set of Road King exhaust. Like the look and love the sound now. Not too loud but you can hear the rumble. Nice!! PS. I did like the look of the tips turned over. That wasn't why I changed to Road King pipes. Good luck.
  23. Are you talking about the Craftsman model. It looks like it would hold the weight of these bikes and is on sale for a little over $100 right now. Thoughts?
  24. bj, thanks for the reply. I've looked at your post and actucally that where I got the idea (thanks a lot, by the way. It seems like every time I look at this site I end up buying something). Anyway, I clicked on the link contained in the thread, I believe it was for crazybikerusa.com or something, and got nowhere. I can't seem to find those lenses anywhere. Any help would be great.
  25. I'm in the market to make a couple of purchases and I wondering if the fine folks of this outstanding forum would be willing to point me in the right direction. First, I'd like to purchase some red 'bullet' lenses for my rear turn signals. I've seen them around in some pictures but I don't know where poeple have been getting them. A little guidence would be great. Second, I'd like to buy a decent lift for my RSTD. I think I read somewhere that Harbor Freight Tools sells one. Is it decent and worth the money? If not, suggestions please. Thanks everyone. Les
