  2. If you can see the oil in the sight glass when on the stand it is TO FULL. Wen I change mine I only put in about 3 and 1/3 quarts and this brings it to the middle of the sight glass when it has been setting overnight. Stopped dripping a drop or two of oil overnight when I started doing this
  3. That wasn't an ad was it Mike:cool10: Hey I was offered a position with a company here and I accepted so go back to work on the 28th. Kinda a good thing bad thing. But I have been retired for 16 months so time to go back so I can retire for good in 6 years. Got time for Root Beer Next week?
  4. . nothing I own is ever "done" My wife wanted to know the same thing one time. I told her there is always something new for our bikes. She is cool with it since she loves to ride also and likes the bike to look good. She will help me clean it... She is a keeper, that is if she thinks I am a keeper:fingers-crossed-emo
  5. Reed, it was great talking to you this evening. Sorry I kept you on the phone for so long. I'm a talker when it comes to bikes and bike related items. Hope the info was helpful in your decision on a trailer. Like I said if you are in the area call me and you always have a place to crash and a garage for the bike. Take care Rick
  6. Yes I have one. So far so good. I did get a tiny bit of water inside when I rode all day (600 miles) in really hard rain. Nothing major but looked like it leaked because the piston that holds up the top when open pushed up on the one side and didn't let it seal properlu. I adjusted the lock and haven't had a problem since. As for cracking I am not sure what you mean by that. Talk to Robin at Mini Trailer USA and she will answer all your questions. Leave her a message and she will call you back. They are not built cheap. Quality work lined with carpet and pull great. Only thing I didn't like was no bracket for the plate but I added one and also a light for the plate' Here is a link to them http://www.minitrailerusa.com/index.htm You can call me if you have any questions. I love mine and I believe she gave me $100 off cause I mentioned her web page and the shipping was only $89. She only charges what they would charge her and she sends it COD (the shipping) so she doesn't make money on the shipping
  7. I had one of them but didn't like the fact that it was a 60 lb guage so ordered one from my Local Yamaha dealer taht is a 30 pound gauge and is in 1 pound increments. So nice for the front forks and if I am going to pull a trailer I then us the harley one for the back shock since it doesn't have to be as accurate. The one from Yamaha dealer was only $40.00
  8. Drove it for years and it can be very nice and 45 degrees and also can be 15 degrees with 2 feet or more of snow.
  9. It's that new FEMA device that listens and tracks you. :bluesbrother:All joking aside it's either a Modulator or a relay
  10. WOW do they have a smaller tank than the RSV? That would explain why the gas can. I thinl the shortest distance I have went on the Venture pulling a trailer was like 160 miles before I switched the tank to reserve.
  11. Where are you riding that you need to carry extra gas?I have never road anywhere that there wasn't a gas station at least every 130 miles except one stretch across Nevada and I believe it was 141 miles and they tell you at the last gas stop that it is that far
  12. That is the reason I stopped riding with the abate members. I still belong but don't do thier poker runs or rides anymore. I love a beer or 9 but not when I am on the bike.
  13. Wonder how many acres you'd need to do a rally like that? I own 155 acres in Southeast (Floyd county) Kentucky that doesn't have anything on it except a barn, a well and electricity. It's way back up a holler about 20 miles from Prestonsburg KY Good (very narrow) blacktop lane. Only problem is that probably 70 percent of the land is on the hill side.
  14. Get cleaner lube combo that is safe for plastic. I had to do mine and also the push to talk switch for the cb was sticking. Fixed things right up
  15. My wife and I.
  16. My switch has been out since about a month after I bought the bike used, I wired the bypass in with a switch just like the one for the road/passing lights. I then drill a little hole in the plastic piece that goes atound the gas cap and mounted it in the front facing forward. You can not see it and you still have to have the key on and the switch on for it to start. And yes it does start with the push button starter switch on the right handle bar grip. I bought a used igniyion switch to put in the bike and then thought why put it in just to have problems again. So i put the switch up for when I get rid of the bike someday and then whoever I sell it to I will explain why I have it wired the way I do and leave it up to them if they want me to put the switch in. To me it makes no sense to spend $200 on a new switch when it will also go out some day. You can not see my little button plus you still need the key to start it. All it will do is turn over with just the button on. I carried the by pass switch and wires with me just in case it went out on the road but I figured I new more than you guys and mine wouldn't go out and of course it did at a stop light in the middle of traffic. You guys are like when I was a kid the older I got the smarter my Dad got. Now the longer I know you guys the smarter you all get:)
  17. I think you got ripped off man:buttkick: But I will tell you what I'll do just to help you out and show you what a nice guy I am and how we all stick together here when someone is in trouble I will give you $1000 for the red one that way you only got ripped off for $500 which is easier to handle.
  18. Not sure how the marketing people figure out who the fans are that are there and also watching it at home. Most every year the halftime show is a waste. I have a suggestion to them go to a regular super bowl party and look at who attends. They also could do a show that would be good for every fan not just the 20 somethings or the Hollywood dummies
  19. What was the issue................just a Monday morning ride.
  20. ok but i have had those plans in the works for months
  21. Interstate Gel battery. I keep a battery tender on it in the winter
  22. Mike was just thinking about you the other day and was wondering if you were ok. I have had a bunch of eye trouble after all the surgeries finally fixed the left eye and it is now back to about 20/40 but woke up 2 weeks ago and couldn't see out of the right eye. Had the first of 2 surgeries on the 25th and the 2nd one will be on 2-21 and I should have back my eye sight in both eyes. I have been dealing with this since June as you know and will be glad when it is over and I can get back to a normal life. Only a couple of months till riding season.
  23. Just got off the phone with Nanci at Ace leather and ordered a bib for my MM edition Venture. Very helpful walking me through the process and making suggestions to improve the looks of the bib. And some of the suggestions weren't about money because they were free. Very nice lady to deal with and her and her husband Ken are both riders.
  24. First full week of September
  25. I just went to Ace and got longer bolts and the longer sleeves that go over the bolts to move mine away from the fairing so I can split the fairing without taking the lights off. Cost me about 6 bucks
