  1. Without hijacking this thread... On a related note but opposite end of the spectrum- my 93 sat from early November (???) until the middle of March without being touched. Before I put it away for the winter I had dumped a healthy dose of Stabil in the last tank of gas and ran it about 95 miles or so like that. Then I changed the oil and ran it with the petcock in the off position until the carbs ran "dry" and it quit. Parked 'er until a few weeks ago when a sudden blast of mild temperatures (mid 40s) encouraged me to get it out and relocated back into my garage. Dunked the battery back in; cycled the fuel pump twice... mmmmaybe three times (can't remember); went to regular moderate choke/cold startup procedure and it lit right off without so much as a hesitation. It didn't stay running after the first couple seconds- I think I had to re cycle the ignition/pump one more time but after that it was golden. I was expecting a bit more of a challenge and was pleasantly surprised.
  2. True. Oct 31 special eh?
  3. Nosir, I'm afraid I don't. I was only there from May 2009 til mid Sept 2009. Glad you dig it though- they're definitely snazzy equipment.

    gone fishin

And you wonder why I call you an old buzzard... :stickpoke:
  5. For the brief few months I worked at Pierce (anybody have any of "our" trucks?) here in Wisconsin, a big deal was made of the following HD. Only two of them were made- one that was donated to NFFF and then they decided to do up another one as a raffle prize because there was quite a bit of interest from the workers. http://nfff.fullthrottlesupport.com/cyclespecs2.html
  6. Perfect... thank you kindly!
  7. Anybody? Anybody? Going once....... going twice..... ?
  8. AKA line-lock. Very common in cars that are drag raced. Useful for burnout stage- it simply applies the front brakes only, leaving the rears to turn freely for burnout.
  9. Looked at http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/ ?
  10. Would somebody mind taking a photo and a measurement for me? I'd check my own but the bags are off and before I install them back on I'm going to make a little modification. Plus it's cold and dark out in the garage. I need to know the distance (of the gap) between the front of the saddlebag and the back of the bag guard/frame... in the vicinity of that little horizontal ridge. In the area where the yellow arrow is pointing in the following photo: Thanks folks!
  11. FWIW: 93 owner manual does say 35mm x4
  12. I moved mine (93 VR, keep in mind) to the underside of the false cover, above the airbox. I also cut 3 holes (appx 1 and 5/8"?) in the front of the false cover to introduce some relatively cool airflow past the regulator and near the airbox inlet. It may not be weatherproof but I doubt any serious water will get up in there.
  13. There's one on ebay right now at "20% off" sale. Item number:390119963404 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IMPELLER-SHAFT-yamaha-XVZ1300-1FK-12450-00-00-NOS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5ad4f63b0cQQitemZ390119963404QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  14. Great... I'll be doing this in a coupla weeks. I spect it'll be a pain in the rump.
  15. Score..... thanks man! I couldn't sleep last night so I was putzing around trying to find as much wings/deflectors info as I could. It does indeed look like they're a rare commodity these days- and typical stupid pricing doesn't make matters easier. Maybe I could fab up some custom ones myself afterall. Just gotta find materials somehow. Preferably free stuff.
  16. I'm only posting in this thread because it relates specifically to the E3 tire... It pays to keep an eye on ebay. I just scored an E3 (18" for front) for 99.99 with free shipping. Current other pricing available for same tire- Ron Ayers: 121.85 + 12 shipping (134) MC Superstore: 120.99 + free ship (121) JC Motors: 116.13 March sale (ordinarily 194.95!!!!!!!!!) + 17.56 ship (134)
  17. Sheez- I thought mine was dirty/neglected when I got it...
  18. How did I miss that the first time around? Are you sure you didn't change the link?
  19. How many of these stations are selling all grades (reg/mid/premo) as ethanol free? The one nearest me only has premium as ethanol free, which makes a bigger dent in the wallet (so I just run regular 87 instead ).

Ssssspeaking of..... what's the scoop on yer riding buddyette and her jerkface? ( http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49149&highlight=quick+ride )
  21. Kuryakyn, in case you do go looking for aftermarket bling.
  22. It's all in the technique/strength and has very little to do with body weight or machine weight. I will allow as how the Venture is a little more difficult than others.
  23. Nope..... not a new tach face. Dang- you were the one guy I was hoping had bazillions of pieces laying around. Now I'm up the creek...
  24. Oy. A brief moment of carelessness and I snapped the end of my tach needle off. I already had it removed from the tach shaft (the hardest part), too. Does anybody have a nonfunctional tach (or speedometer, for that matter) they don't mind either sharing the whole thing with me or sending me the needle from? It's kind of a pain to pop off but it will come with a little coaxing. I will later reveal my project if I can score a new needle.
  25. Actually that would be poor grammar. Never end a statement with a preposition ("in"). :no-no-no:Correct grammar would be "I got in the last word!"
