    Here is more onfo. I have a K&N filter with stock pipes. My 35 MPG is running around 60-65 MPH taking it easy. The washers i have are .024" thick, are these stock ones? I have not tried dropping down to 4th, i will try next time.

    I am wondering if you guys could help me with a few questions i have? I have an 84 Royale with airbox lid with holes drilled and carbs rejetted, i didn't do the work. I can only get about 35 MPG, would like to get more. I have a bag with factory needles, washers and some of factory size jets. Cannot find in factory service manual number of washers or thickness needs to be under the needle, anybody help? Have not taken carbs off to see what size everything is, would like to only do this once. Are the factory size jets and needle the best way to go? Have seen in previous forums about shim under needle? I have a stock airbox lid with no holes i can use. Any suggestions will be helpful.

    Just got done doing 2nd gear in mine on saturday, so i know how much work you put into it. Sorry yours didn't work out so good. Sounds to me like the problem is a bent shift fork. I think it shifted fine when apart if you didn't have the end bearing retainers installed as it would hold the shafts in proper location, is that possible? I checked the shifting out after i put case halves together before installing anything else. It works beautiful now, great to have 2nd gear back. I also updated the water pump impeller and had to replace stator as mine looked like it had got hot, just to be safe. Hope you have good luck in finding problem.

    I bought a used gear set off an 88 Venture. I have a couple questions after looking at your pictures of your gearset. On 2nd gear, is there supposed to be a slight radius on the edge of the dogs where they engage or is it to be sharp edge? I see in your picture there is a radius, or is it worn? Also my 2nd gear is slightly discolored like yours in the picture, is this normal or from being overheated? Do i need to replace to be safe? I am in prcess of doing 2nd gear replacement. Does anybody know if i can buy the dust boot for clutch slave cylinder or do i have to but complete cylinder? Does anybody have a contact for bushings for rear suspension linkaqe? They are not very cheap where i have checked. I plan on joining club, you guys have really helped with all tech. Thanks.

    New member joining. Love the sight, lots of good info. Have 2nd gear going out in my 84 VR. Was wondering if i put an 86 or newer trans in it if it would work without any mods? Also would i need to change out shift drum and forks? Love the bike, would like to fix it. Any members out there that has a trans that they would like to sell me would be great?
