  1. I looked around in various areas on the site but didn't find the answer to my question. Does anybody happen to know the approximate weight/load bias on these bikes (in my case 1genMK2)? I'm real curious what % is up front vs. out back. I suppose I'd be interested in knowing both without a rider(s) and with.
  2. Yeah, I figured it slipped past you (sorta like a 1st gen slipping past a 2nd gen...). No biggie.
  3. Inquiring minds want to know... will your machine be available for guest test rides @ MD?
  4. Wow..... that was one heavily modded Bimmer!
  5. One thing I would caution against is doing what I did. I went to the 80/100 watt bulb without making any other changes. You can see what resulted. It wasn't like this last time I looked at it. I have the fortune of living in a somewhat northern climate where it's not oppressively hot most of the time. You folks that live where it gets blistering hot in summer might be even more likely to experience this phenomenon. Looks like I'll need to convert over to HID sometime next year.
  6. 6.48/can everyday price @ Mills Fleet Farm (http://www.fleetfarm.com). I don't know if this is a shippable item or not. It can also be had in gallon cans for 49? (which is slightly cheaper than the equivalent 8 cans @ 16oz price of 51.84)
  7. x2 on the cruise- I solved mine by building up a little ramp of JB Weld at the lever to plunger contact point so that it would make the switch close (or open, whichever it is) more easily in the resting position. Works like a charm.
  8. Yeah- no wonder there's no spark eh?
  9. That's about half an hour, maybe 45 minutes from me.
  10. Yeah, I got pulled over several years ago because I had two little green bullet LEDs in the grille of my car (wired in parallel with my aftermarket fog lights). He just warned/reminded me that anything other than clear/white or amber (showing to the front) is illegal for on road use. I've got a flexstrip of blue ones in the V of my engine.... sorta tucked down around the twinkie. If you were looking right at it you'd see them pretty easily but I've yet to be stopped and talked to about it. Come to think of it I passed up a WI state trooper riding a Hogg in July while riding after dark with those lights on. If anytime was prone to getting stopped- that was probably it. (Also had my red ones along the saddlebags on... they're all wired together.)
  11. Anybody wound up having a "discussion" with LEOs as a result of these?
  12. I concur wholeheartedly. I've put several thousand miles on my dad's K12LT, and at anything under jogging speed it is an absolute bear if you're beyond a few degrees off upright. Never in my life have I felt anything so cumbersome and unwieldy. The upside is that when you're cruising down the road it's incredibly smooth/quiet and stable. His seems to hunker into a smooth harmonic balance right around 3400-3700 RPM or so, which just so happens to be excellent interstate cruising speed.

Seafoam MSDS ( http://www.seafoamsales.com/msds-downloads.html ) lists the quantitative breakdown as such: 40-60% pale oil (paraffin oil) 25-35% naphtha 10-25% isopropyl alcohol Basically we're waxing our carbs!
  14. I emailed them and asked for some clarification as well. Here's what Mark had to say: The 50% discount off the retail is on our "new discounted inventory" - shields with minor cosmetic issues that most customers can rarely see. On new "perfect" shields, we have a 20% discount if the shield is in stock or 15% if we have to put the shield through production.
  15. A couple times I got into the decel wobble (only occurs with both hands off, which as we all know is somewhat foolish) too. After lubing and snugging the steering head bearings down a little tighter I have not had it happen again. This is also with a front tire that has worn to nearly its limit (so if there's any cupping going on, it's probably now).
  16. I found AVG SAFE SEARCH add-on (if you use AVG, that is) to be causing repeated Firefox crashes. It was highly annoying. Disabled that addon and FF (3.6.24) behaves flawlessly again.
  17. Such as the Mystik JT8 synthetic blend 15w50 I just dumped in mine? I happened to notice it go on sale at a local retailer so I bought up 4 gallons. Should last me a year or two probably.
  18. '93 purchased July 2010 with 60557. Currently at 73328.
  19. 81 first try 68 second try 64 third try 55 53 that's enough
  20. Probably be cheaper / more fiscally responsible than buying actual ABS, eh?

That pricing is absolutely ridiculous. In the northern midwest Fleet Farm has the stuff set at an everyday price of 6.48/can. It can also be purchased in gallon cans for roughly $49. Wonder if that qualifies as a hazmat. I can't specifically remember seeing it on sale though.
  22. Like those, do ya? They're pretty cheap on ebay. They look a bit tacky glued against that ridge on the bags but if you can keep them straight it helps. They don't show up that good in daylight but at night they create quite a red glow- if anybody doesn't see that they have no business driving.

  24. There "might" be a time when I want to listen to something on tape... ha!
