  1. Found one stuck to a fly strip last year. Managed to get him free, set him insome brush and he was gone later. Sure are amazing up close.
  2. I have heard that heating them with a blow dryer will soften the adhesive and they will peal off
  3. Thanks RSTDdog, I had popping with stock exhaust but not as noticeable. Synced the carbs and they're close. Not sure about how clean the carbs are. It's an 05 with 40,000. Occational Seafoam and had new needle valves at 20,000 due to ethenol reaction. Thought I would start with exhaust inspection for loose connection first. I'm unclear on proper disassembly procedures for the exhaust.
  4. Hello All, I’m looking for instructions for removing and inspecting the exhaust on an 05 RSTD. After installing a set of BUB slip-ons, my popping is more accentuated and I want to inspect the pipes for leaks and cracks. I have searched our site for a breakdown document but no luck. Does the chrome come off separately from the pipes or as a unit? Are there gaskets to replace once the pipes are removed? I am assuming the pipes mount to a flange that insets into the head? Thanks in advance.
  5. The long slender end is the pointer. Slender end down is fuel on, up is reserve.
  6. I use rubbing alcohol to remove sap, ink, oil, etc from many things. Have not tried it with windshield plastic so spot check first. Make sure you get the good stuff. Look for a good % of alcohol on the bottle. Pass on the 70% stuff.
  7. Thanks for the link, I may need to look into the option.
  8. The BUBs are on and test ride done. Nice rumble and a good bark when you hit the throttle. I synced the carbs and found that I have seem to have lost some vacuum, from about 28 to about 26 and I pick up a bit more exhaust fumes. Any ideas? Also, the change has accentuated the decal pop. Guess I really need to track down the issue. It’s an 05, and I have heard that the exhaust develops leaks.
  9. Now I am getting excited about the switch. Heck, I might have this year’s modification out of the way early.
  10. OK, Gang. I pulled the trigger and i'm checking out the BUBs on the bike Saturday. Taking mine and if all sounds well, I'll make the trade.
  11. Dealer says bring the cans in and he'll give me the BUBs. Says he can't sell the bike with non EPA aftermarket pipes. He can't install either.
  12. Anything I need to know about switching to the BUB cans such as gaskets. I assume three our four bolts and they slide off.
  13. Thanks for the feedback, sounds like a good move!
  14. Hello All, I have an opportunity to trade with a stealership, straight across, a set of BUB sleepers from a 07 RSTD with 4900 miles for my 05 RSTD stock mufflers. They say that they cannot sell the bike with non-EPA mufflers. Are those running BUBs happy with the tone and performance? Does seem like a no brainer. My star does have some pop on decel and I am sure more noticeable with the BUBs. Might force me to look at the rest of the exhaust for leaks. Thanks
  15. Man, that was good stuff. I had three of his albums.
