  1. I have tried running a ground straight to the battery, no luck. Ran it to the engine, no luck. My hot is running straight from the battery to a relay which I have grounded to the headlight and then on to the battery, no luck. My strong stations are not too bad but it wipes out anything out of town. I even hooked them to a power supply on the bench and it wipes out the radio on the garage wall. The people that are using them on boats are having the same issues and a lot of electrical whizzes have not been able to solve it.
  2. He also has his on Ebay if you want to see it.
  3. Ruffy, keep me up to date on the filter. My friend couldn't use the lights so I still have them. I would love to be able to use them but it really wipes out my radio.

    UGH!

What is this thing you refer to as snow?? 85 degrees here today, guess I'll go for a ride.
  5. Well I have tried them with a relay and also grounded them straight to the battery with no luck. I have also grounded the radio and antenna straight to the battery with no change. They still have static without the antenna connected so it is coming through the electrical system somehow. I am at a loss for what to do next. I guess I will send them back and chaulk it up to my bad luck.
  6. They charge by the person to get in the gate, it cost us $4.00 per bike if you are riding solo to get in the gate and then another $8.00 per person to get in the caverns. They are not great but not too bad if you have never seen them. The mosiqitoes will carry you away so take repelent with you. We visited last year, the camp ground is terrible so don't waste your time on it. The cave tours are closed on Tuesday and Wendsday also.
  7. No I did not have a relay in line. I simply replaced the old lights witht he LEDs. I will try a relay and see what happens.
  8. Problem with the LED driving lights. When I turn the lights on it wipes out my radio. There is so much static that the radio is not useable. I read an artical about this problem and they say the higher quality lights have a pulse voltage regulating circuit in them that causes the static. I may try playing around with a capacitor later to see if I can eliminate the static but for now I went back to my amber clear lights. When cold weather gets here I will play with them again. Anyone else who has this problem let me know so I can tell if it is a problem with the bike or the lights.
  9. I guess I must be lucky to get a good handeling bike. Mine is very stable at low speeds and also at high speed. I used to ride a 1500 Goldwing and it was like a drunk sailor at low speeds. My Harley Roadking was the best handleing bike I have ever ridden and I just came off it when I bought the Venture. I have read a lot of posts about slow speed handeling and I have to say I don't have the problem at all. Now if Yamaha would only put a reverse gear in the Venture it would be perfect.
  10. Tried out the LEDs tonight and I have to say they are great. I have a large area of bright white light and now one small spot of yellow light in the middle. That will be cured when I go to the LED headlight or the HID whichever I decide to do.
  11. http://www.greenboatstuff.com/maseledsplab.html Yes they fit right in place of the old bulbs. I have not ridden in the dark yet as I just got them this evening but I will as soon as I can and report back. They only draw about 8 watts so it is easier on the electrical system for sure. I plan to change out the headlight and turn signals to LED also as soon as the bank account allows it.
  12. Got my LED Driving Lights in today from www.greenboatstuff.com and I can say they are bright. Now I guess I will have to go to the LED headlight though because now my headlight looks dim. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00328Large.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00327Large.jpg
  13. Thanks for the link, I just ordered a set also.
  14. I used to be with Dish until I had a bad expierence with them about 6 or 7 years ago. I switched over to Direct and have been very happy with them. Dish is always fighting with some provider over price and losing and then regaining channels. I have never lost a channel with direct and have had excellent service from them. Last month my reciever went out after 5 years and even though I am not under contract with them they sent me a new DVR reciever free of charge and because I owned the old reciever I now own the new one. I thought that was great service.
  15. Wife and I live right down the road from you, in Crestview and I am from Southeast Ohio also. I too have a 2000 Venture MM Edition. Small world. We also have a 2007 Suzuki Burgman and a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 900. Maybe we can ride up and catch a burger one day.
  16. I have Foremost through AARP and all three of my bikes full coverage is a little under $300 a year.
  17. I had never seen an ad were you can buy your own Forestry 100' fire tower. There is one here locally on craigslist, complete taken down delivered and set up on your own property for $22,000. It is complete with a room with new windows, repainted and ready to go. Now I have seen it all.
  18. I don't like straight pipes but I love my Barons. I will run them and if I get a ticket I will pay it and then keep right on running them. Police bikes all over the country have aftermarket pipes on them so I really don't think the law would be enforced. This has been tried in the past and failed and it will again.
  19. Just like mine, I am watching it to see what it goes for, see if I made a good deal or not. A lot more miles on it though.
  20. You mean Yamaha with all the engineers knew what they were doing, imagine that. Millions of dollars are spent engineering and designing bikes for some reason. Mine handles just fine and way better than my old Wing, although not nearly as well as my old Harley it is just fine for the size and weight of the bike.
  21. Mine looks great and the paint match was right on, thanks Steve.
  22. You have more electronics on there than most fighter jets.
  23. Well I'm not from New Mexico but I did live in Alamogordo for 4 years and I loved it. I love the desert and really loved the dry heat. I am in the Florida panhandle now and have been for 25 years but I am going back to New Mexico in a few years. I am so tired of the humidity here, sweating so bad I can hardly go outside:scorched: and raining every day. I like the area of Alamogordo and being retired military I need the hospital there so I will more than likely go back to that area. It is a short drive to the mountians and ski areas to see snow in the winter yet you can go back down to the desert and warm up in the sun. Just waiting to sell the house and my wife to get to the point she can draw her pension from the school district and we are on the road west.
