  1. Right and we know how much Harley has modernized there bikes, right?
  2. That video is a little fake. For one his face would have been greatly deformed at 200 MPH and two, who would lose the girl in the tunnel and not go back and get her?
  3. Ours are sent also.
  4. Sometimes changing the clutch basket will stop the whine, sometimes not, sometimes it goes away for a while and then returns. If it is so bad you can't live with it then spend the money and try to stop it. If not then just ride it and enjoy,it will never hurt a thing. My Harley had the exact same whine when I changed out the cam,it is the clearance between the two gears, too loose and it will rattle, too tight and it will scream. If you get lucky and get the right clearance on the new gear then you will have a quiet engine, if not you have wasted your money. Mine has some whine, it does not bother me so I ride and enjoy it. Anyone who disagrees and can't live with there's then by all means try to stop it. The point I am making is that all bikes make noise and it is a personal choice if you try to stop it or not.
  5. My Suzuki's oil gets up to 230 to 250 in hot weather.
  6. Ventures whine, Kawasakis whine,Harleys rattle and bang, don't sweat it,ride and enjoy.
  7. Don't worry about the gut, it will shake it off you soon.
  8. Modulating headlights are legal in all states by Federal DOT regulations during daylight hours. I have had cars pull off the road due to mine and I have had comments on it from cagers, but I always tell them the same thing, "you saw me right", they say,"yes we did", and I tell them,"good that is the purpose". So if it makes a few people mad then so be it, they see me and that is all I want. I use headlight flashers, brake light flashers, high beam headlights and driving lights plus an air horn for the fools who are still blind and I am still alive to tell it. I also ride with boots, gloves, leathers(when Florida heat allows it),and a helmet plus I am always armed. I may be a safety nut but I plan to stay alive.
  9. Well good luck. I have owned the Wing and the Harley and the Venture wins hands down. The wing had a great engine, smooth and quiet but the seating position and the foot position sucked and the tupperware squeeked like crazy. The Harley sounded like it was coming apart, shook the fillings out of my teeth at idle and low speeds and needs the upper end rebuilt on average at 35 to 50,000 miles. Both of those bikes on the road by the hundreds every time you go out and who wants to ride a bike just like everyone else? I can live with a little noise.
  10. have a great safe trip Rick. I have a Vulcan seat for you when you return. We are building a new bike for my son so I won't need the Intruder seat done I told you about when I was at your house getting my Venture seat done. Like night and day on that seat by the way, great work and thanks again. I'll get with you when you return.
  11. Who cares if it whines. I mean really it could be worse, it could sound like a bucket of bolts like my old Harley or it could break down all the time like a lot of others. It whines, so what, get over it, turn up the radio, put on louder pipes, or just enjoy a great bike and ride. My turbo on my truck sings so loud and piercing that the Venture soumd quiet to me. I love the bike, love the way it rides and handles, love how I can depend on it so let it talk to me, who cares?
  12. You win, got it for free, changing out the frame and letting my son have it. It only has 3200 miles on it so basically a new bike. Will be getting the title for the frame next week so in no hurry to finish it while it is 100 degrees in my garage.
  13. That's too bad man, I feel for you. I have considered a newer bike but in these times I guess I will stick with the one that's paid for. I haven't went into debt for anything except my house for over over thirty years now and won't if I have my way. I will drive the old and keep on repairing until I croak before I will let anyone take what is mine. Good luck to you and I hope things work out so you can keep the bike or at least buy another one soon.
  14. Yep! Top one very ugly, bottm one not as bad but still ugly to me.

  16. I leak checked that dang thing for a week and no leaks so I guess it is road ready.
  17. Well I hope it will be in a week or so.
  18. Looks great, I used to own one like it back in 93-94.
  19. Hey that's npt a Harley! The rags were there to keep from scratching the fresh paint. It does have a rear tire now and a few more electrical parts. Not in any hurry as long as it is ready for Thunder Beach. It's my son's new ride as soon as we finish it. I'll have about $1500 it it and it is a 2007 so I thought it was a good investment. Any guess as to what it is?
  20. I use Amsoil 10W40 synthetic in mine and have ran it for 20 years now without any problems at all. I change it about every 2 years.
  21. I don't feel so bad now. Mine is a little farther along than yours. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Vulcan/Vulcan.jpg
  22. Whoops I guess I should have read farther. My bad I see what is going on now.
