  1. The stock seat seemed to push me forward into the tank, so went with the Mustang dirvers & pass. w/matching sissy bar pad. What I liked immediately was the 'bucket' feelng of the drivers seat, down and back, and with the pass. it kinda forms a lumbar support for me. Also have Kuyrakyn switch-blades on the engine bars, so when I'm on the hwy it's like sitting in my LazyBoy . Have logged 500 mi days in comfort. BTW, am looking to sell the original stock seats since I have no intention of going back, if anyone's interested.
  2. This place is great, everybody falling all over each other to give things away Maybe we'll just rename it freebay.com Guess I'll have to take inventory of all the pieces in my garage and put em in the swap page
  3. Thx Boo, but got impatient and wanted to be able to ride this weekend (since it's supposed to be really nice), so ordered before shipping cut off. Didn't realize you're so close by. Thinking I'll find somebody to fill the bleeder hole with aluminum and re-machine it, then I'd have a spare. Would that work? And to Condor; did try the ez out but it wouldn't budge - red loctite on the bugger really held it in.
  4. Thx Gary, figured I must have drilled out that shoulder Should've gaged the depth. Just ordered a new assembly from Rick @ Buckeye. Oh well, $5 speedbleeder costs me $90!!!
  5. I know this isn't the place to start this, but I'm casting the widest net for help. Decided to change fluid and added a speed bleeder to make the job easier. Every thing was going fine, nice new fluid flowing, and went to close the bleeder - and it broke off . Took slave cylinder out, drilled out and re-tapped so stock bleeder would fit. Now it won't hold pressure/close. Did I drill too deep? Looks like I'll need a new/used cylinder, unless the geniuses here have a solution. Any ideas???
  6. From my Cylmer's, pg 107 - Frt axle = 58 ft lbs, clamp bolt = 14 ft lbs. Hope this helps.
  7. Price reality - '10 Kaw Voyager, Price no object - '10 Indian Cheif Vintage
  8. Yep, 1st adj. Most were below spec., except 3 exhaust that were still OK.
  9. with the help of the fantastic write-up by v7goose, everything went great and nary a leak! Did find I was able to remove the rear valve cover by sliding it back, after removing the side and middle battery covers. Used dingy's xcel sheets, and was able to reuse a few shims because of it. Also transferred all hand data to new sheet and saved as new file, so I have a record of what shims are in now. Buddyrich came through big-time, lending me the shim kit/tool. Put all my 272's and other odd ones in kit, but wanted to replenish the ever popular 270's. Went to http://www.albaaction.com , and talked to Paul there. They're no longer doing a 'shim swap', but asked him about Sudco since the Yammi's were so expensive. He called back and is now set up with Sudco, so I ordered some at $6.75ea. Will add them to the kit before I send it back. Thanks again to these members and this great site!! Between the valve adj and sync'ing the carbs, she's a new (scarry fast) ride, and good for another 50K miles.
  10. Just sync'd mine, and although I had good vacuum at idle decided to check around the intake manifolds. Sprayed a little carb cleaner and got a bog . Guess I'll be tightening them or using some rtv? I don't think there's any O rings on these like the VMax has?
  11. TO: you're right on going with the K&N airfilter:D. Put one in as soon as possible, cleaned it once at 25k and now at 49.9K just re-oiled it. With ethanol in the gas (even 10%) drying carb boots, the K&N oil keeps the rubber supple.
  12. With only 17k miles, I'd say go with the exisitng parts. I've got 50K on orginal plates, and only added the Barnet pressure plate. No slippage, improved engagement.
  13. Yeah, if the wires were bare, that's what I was . Done any research on other gas gauges? Seem to remember Kuryakyn had one that was for HD - but probably required drilling our tanks.
  14. From what I recall, our tanks are 4.9 gal. My idiot light comes on like pegscrapper's, and I ride till start hearing fuel starvation then switch to reserve. Wish I could find a real gauge that gives true reading. BTW, how the heck are you getting 42 MPG I'm lucky to get 30 below 65mph, and goes down to 25 at 80
  15. On my third set of skin's - oem and 2nd set were D404 www, and got around 20k out of each. Third time found great deal on a Metzler 880 www and a D404 www rear. Have @ 10k on each now and they're wearing fine. The 880 front seems to have a quicker turn-in. Just my .
  16. In the kit you won, does it include the 6 spring pressure plate? I put one in last fall (just the coil spring plate) and it made a HUGE diff. Follow the tech article, and it's a couple hrs to complete. Only other thing w/b if you have too much whine, might chg to the I basket.
  17. Sometimes only a picture can get our attention! Her last call was from a new cell phone... Do you see the motorcycle? http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Now do you see it? http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=4&fid=Inbox&inline=1 http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f127876%5fAJPHjkQAAIu1S%2bGY%2fwYk5xK8Kw4&pid=5&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.. Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!! A picture is worth a thousand words. Save a life… Stop talking on Cell phones and Texting while trying to drive. The life you save may be your own..... or mine...
  18. Luv them 'Flash Gordon' mufflers Kinda like what I had on my '69 BSA Rocket 3, 'cept mine were vertical. The IS model or Kaw's new Voyage are the only bikes that would tempt me away from my Tour Deluxe. Enjoy!
  19. Very informative, and will keep going back to retest myself. 1st time thru @ med. 18/20 signs - never seen a white RR in the states? 20/20 collision - Since I ride in metro Chi-town (aka United Nations), I KNOW they're all out to kill me:D Thanks for the post
  20. Welcome Youngblood, nice scoot:cool10: Looks like Pegscraper nailed your add-on's:2cents:. No windshield? Must like eatin' bugs:crackup:
  21. Hi John, I'm leaning toward going and was thinking of getting a group together too. You got room in your trailer for a tent & sleeping bag? Jim
  22. Thx Dave, have relocated the bag and put a 'springer' horn in it's place and a Baron's chrome piece where the old horn was. And re: shim kit, buddyrich came through for me. Hopefully I'll have Matilda back together in a couple weeks.
  23. Hi all, great to see so many nice royalstars. Just joined the forum, have a 2000 RSTD, bought in 2003 w/1600 mi - had Bub's on. Since then have added just about every chrome acc. available. Major changes are - Mustang saddles, braided lines/cables, Barnet pressure plate, K&N air filter, Dyna3000-set to stage 3. Matilda now has @ 49k miles on her, and have begun first valve job (well over due). Anyone know the groups policy on the loaner shim tool/kit? Will post pics when she's back together. Thx,
