..."Some here will recommend the K&N air filters, but I have not done that. The reasons I haven't are: A. I've read too many articles (electronic and print media) that show they allow WAY too much dirt into the engine for the small horsepower gain they provide"... Yeah, that may be the case with the newer RSTD's with the lower fairings, but my K&N is under the tank. Never re-jetted, just richened the mixture. I also run a Dyna3000 with the dip's set at stage III and burn 87 most of the time. Seen a lot of you guys had peeling on the cones - guess mine were of a vintage (pre Y2K) when we still had good materials and pride of production in the U.S., as mine shine up great when I get around to getting the soot off . Ya'll have a great Thanksgiving

Yep, have had them on my 2000 TD since I bought her with 1600 miles. Original owner put them on but didn't richen up the carbs, so she popped some. Took care of that and she sounded great, with many a compliment from HD riders. At almost 50k miles they still sound fine. There's been many a thread about Bub's on here. It's an easy change.

Chrome covers for rear seat removal?
OddStar replied to geep's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Not that I know of ...just buy another bag - since you'll probably lose a few more. How do I know? Was just washing her and knocked off one of the small ones, but luckily saw it before it got washed away. I also carefully pry the tangs out prior to reinserting. -
Howdy, welcome and nice '07 . BTW, I've got a '01 ZX3 so I'll have to check out your Focus group. Enjoy!

pulled over for going through red light last night
OddStar replied to saddlebum's topic in Watering Hole
You've heard... ...but for six years I've proved the little 9 buck gizmo keeps me goin', w/o doin' (possibly dangerous) dipsy doodles at intersections. Where I live it takes me a good 40 miles to get out to cruzin country, and till then I've got to deal with way too many red light triggers and red light camera's (not to mention the whole UN on the road next to me that don't know our language much less our traffic laws). Believe me it was the best 'take it on faith' purchase I've made since I bought a radar jammer ( and still lol every time I think about that smokey's face, looking at his radar gun as my XJS flew past him at 90+). -
Black Rineharts on Road Trip Report

Glad to hear that you've discovered what these pipes are about. On the plus side, BUB stands behind them very well. My buddy's RK had the 'true duals' and he kept burning through the left down tube right after the exhaust port. Long story short, I called them and they acknowledged there was a problem with the clamping area, and sent a new pipe with upgraded mounts - no questions asked. Another friend had flaking on his black cones, and they replaced them also. LUV that hummm... Now if they'd just make some fish-tails...but their engineer I talked to at the show said they decided not to go that route, and when pushed he got very techie on me. -

Six years ago was browsing on ebay and saw a 'red light changer', actually a small magnet that makes the bike "look" as big as a car. For $9 thought what the heck... Mounted it under the radiator with a zip tie and went to an intersection that I knew had been problematic for me. Rolled up to the wired area and sure enough that stubborn light changed. Just my -
Black Rineharts on RSV Midnight

They look really good. At first read thought they were just the cones...didn't know they made em full lenght black. I've been running Bubs (same co.) for 50k miles now and haven't had any problems, and everybody comments on how nice they sound. Enjoy em -
Been running K&N air and oil filters for 30k miles. The air filter comes pre-charged, and is good for 50k miles in normal (not real dusty) conditions. The re-charge kit can be found for $15, and has very easy cleaning and recharging instructions.

Well, there's a high speed ferry from Michigan City? across to Milwaukee. Otherwise I-294 is the outer belt around Chi-town. It'll get you North on I-94 (torn up in places from IL state line to Milwaukee). I-43 North out of Milwaukee, then you can (if you've got time) do some nice two lanes along the lake front from around Port Washington to Green Bay. Let me know if you need more...

OEM Windshield Confusion
OddStar replied to DAKn2's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
According to my 2003 catalog, your 2nd seller had the right part # listed: STR-4NL07-10-00. And it is supposed to be 20 1/2". Hope this helps...
