Easiest way to remember. Torque measures the force applied. Horsepower measures the movement.

The no external speaker is partialy a problem because there is no internal speaker either. It does work with a Scala Rider Blue Tooth headset. But wouldn't ya know it the Scala Rider Blue Tooth headset does not work with the RSV sound system. Mike

That is a very good price. I use a TomTom Rider 2. It has some serious deficiencies which would cause me not to purchase another. Unless I could get it for $30. Here is the short list. Bad a) No auxiliary speaker connection. Limited Blue Tooth only. b) When not navigating to a location, just trying to use it as a map. You cannot zoom out more than a couple of blocks. It will auto zoom back to it's default setting which cannot be changed. It does this when navigating too but it's not as critical. c) When off road as in a parking lot or unmapped road it will try to fix your location on the nearest street even though that may be some distance away and give you directions from there. This can and does send you off in the wrong direction. d) Hard to see in any kind of sunlight. e) Only works with some SD cards Good a) Rain sealed If you buy one of these find the TYRE mapping program and download it. TomTom Home has no way to plan an itinerary or trip TYRE does. Mike

I agree. Tires have serial numbers and these are registered when the tire is purchased. The whole idea is for the manufacturer to notify customers when a defect shows up. Perhaps these complaints should be foreworded to the NHTSA. Mike- 39 replies

My RSV is 106 inches from the tip of the front fender to the tip of the trunk. Allowing some room for a wheel chock in the front I just don't think an 8 foot trailer will cut it. Mike

07 is still under warranty. Could be vacuum leak, carbs or air valve. Has the intake or exhaust been modified? If not have the dealer check it out. That's what warranties are for. Mike -

The tank is not hard to remove. That would be the easiest way. Mike -
You can tell if the cb is trying to transmit because the TX comes on in the radio controller when the mic button is pushed. I agree though do not be trying to transmit with a bad antenna. It will cause the transmitter to burn out.

Audio Controller Intermittent Problem
MikeWa replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The wire harnesses are wire tied for support under the fairing. I think if the ties are above the connectors the constant bumping and vibration of the harness tends to pull the heavy connectors apart. I try to wire tie mine below the connector. Can't prove it but a suspicion I have. Mike- 21 replies

Intercom interference
MikeWa replied to terrysears's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Sometimes you can just wrap (shield) the intercom wire with aluminum foil. A thin coat is all it takes. The foil should be grounded at some point along it's length. A bare wire tucked under the foil and attached to a ground screw works fine. I occasionally check my plug wires by grounding a screwdriver and slowly passing it along the plug wires. If at any point this makes the engine run rough the plug wire is leaking nd needs to be replaced. This can also be done with an old fashioned bulb type 12 volt test light. NOT a digital or LED. And don't expect the bulb to light up. It won't. Just listen for the engine to misfire. To test to see if the plugs are firing attach a timing light to the plug wires one at a time. Don't worry about setting the timing. you just want to make sure the light lights up on all four cylinders. Mike P.S. I get the small bare wire by pulling a strand out of a 16 or 18 gauge multi strand wire. -

If the ticking noise changes with engine speed it could be a bad plug wire. Mike -
Audio Controller Intermittent Problem
MikeWa replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Brian Sometimes passing lights are installed with the wires routed so they can be pinched when steering is turned to the stop. This can blow the light fuse. If you have passing lights check this. Mike- 21 replies

Sounds like Yamaha is doing a pretty good job for you. Which other company will take a four year old bike and fix it faster on their nickle? Mike -
I had AFLAC. Good company. Quick pay out. But I am not sure how you can get their insurance after the fact. Mike

The small amount detected at Dallas was from medical equipment in the hold of the airplane. This is a very common occurrence and only news because of events in Japan. There was no decontamination of the passengers or airplane taking place. The tragedy is in Japan. People are in a desperate condition and in many cases help is not coming due to radiation fears. Large numbers of people injured, freezing and without food or water are still dieing. It is an ongoing tragedy. Mike P.S.
