OEM Windshield wierd coating
BuddyRich replied to Mordalo's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They all have an AR abrasion resistant coating. That what you saned thru. Its on both sides. -
You need to split the fairing and pull the connectors apart and put some di-electric grease in them. That will fix the problem. Pay close attention to the one with the blue band.

Gave it up years ago. But I still get flashbacks and start lookin for a DQ.. Now I know why you guys are always at DQ.. :rotf:

I think everybody here would like to see the Venture updated soon. There's even a couple of threads that are wish lists. I would like that but would like to keep the looks very close to what it is now. I would like to seem them blend in the saddlebags to the rear fender to appear as one piece though and still have the saddlebags removable

:doh: Must be the new retro look

I won't buy another CAUSE I really like the one I have. Best all around bike for the price and I am into Cadillacs and Luxury cars/bikes at this stage in my life. My hot rod days are long gone. I no longer feel the need to go blindly fast. But I do like going ALL day if I have to. And 16 hours on a Venture is a lot easier than most other bikes. Now there's nothing wrong with pulling the front wheel off the ground once in a while . No, it ain't the fastest in the world but I really don't need to do that any more. It is certainly fast enough for my blood these days. Just wanna get there in one piece now.

Thought this was. After looking up who's on line. I noticed that SOME of YOU live here. :rotf: But what was more impressive is that 1200 of the members check the site at least once every 4 days and that's not even considering the ones who check it and never log in Plus the guest just browsing. What a SITE ?

OK, I losin it. I could have sworn that said no need to measure both sides. :rotf::rotf:
-
I have to disagree with that. That's like building a house and only measuring one side and assuming the other side is right. If its off then the other side would show it being .4 inchs over to its side or totally over the line. If its .4 inch short on the the other side then its due to tire width Like below but I would not wrap the string around the rear tire and would probably use 2 long straight edges. http://www.yamahafz1oa.com/images/srwam01.jpg

Did you run the straight edge on both sides ? I have a brand new set of avons sitting in the garage and even though the are both 150's the front is not as wide as the back.

Welcome to the best site on the web and good luck with the bike.

Sorry to hear this. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today.

I have never ridden the dragon but have driven the road to Hana. I think that would be the ultimate bike ride Taken from Wikipedia Although Hāna is only about 52 miles/84km from Kahului, a typical trip to Hāna takes about three hours, as the road is very winding, very narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one-lane bridges, requiring oncoming traffic to yield and occasionally causing brief traffic jams if two vehicles meet head-on. There are approximately 620 curves along Highway 360 from just east of Kahului to Hana, virtually all of it through lush, tropical rainforest http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/aa/Hana_Road.neil916.jpg/400px-Hana_Road.neil916.jpg

There are several connectors under the front fairing. We have found that pulling them apart and using some di-electric grease on them solves many problems. They are in a bundle on the left side of the headlight as you face the bike. They are round and have colored bands on them. Try that.

That Dealer is full of it. Maybe call Yamaha and complain that the dealer should not be selling Yamaha since he doesn't seem to be willing to honor a factory warranty. Or find a different dealer.

I had a wire burn smell one time but it was something I had done. It blew the fuse and I fixed it. Double check any wiring you may have done in the fairing. If all is well the I would say warranty also.
