To Big Boy - my mind was thinking motorcyce. i did not think about the car dealership - and it was 2 blocks down. Helloooo. LOL well, my now overpriced moly will last me quite awhile, so getting adding a cheaper tube of the stuff will only take up room on my lube shelf.
-
To LilBeaver - I figured the mechanics use bulk priced stuff to help keep expenses down, but then, if a person is ordering lube, why not order some for the shelf as do-it-yourselfers, like us may want some. that's where my thinking gets me! If i win the lottery, i am gonna buy the Yammy Dealership and give great deals to eveyone on this site!

HELP!!! I suffer old-timers & CRS (can't remember squat)
massey130 replied to Rottdoglover's topic in Watering Hole
i googled that zuki for a look see and it seems to be a great candidate for modification. i don't do that kind of work, but it is interesting to me. i would like it if you post the project as it moves along. -
We always have a combination of Kids or Grandkids along so making the trip on the bike only hasn't been an option, but, maybe one year. I would need 2 weeks off for that. it would be tough to make the straight shot north and not stray into the side by ways.

Yea, i was wondering if anyone would say something about that. my wife is from Minn and followed the casino down here. we met through a mutual friend and wound up hitting if off and are now married (13.5 yrs now). we take our vacation and go to Minn. this past trip we trailered the RSV and rode while up there. Debbie's brother drives a Valkyrie, so we made some day trips. I thought about taking a 5 minute ride in each state as we stopped for gas so i could fill in the blanks, but that would be "cheating".

Are you going to find the maker and commission one? -
I wanted to buy some Moly 60 paste. i found it online, but wanted to do some business locally. Well, i really did not want to wait on the shipping time. The parts counter guy was friendly and helpful, but said they don't have any and the requests for it are basically nill, so they don't stock it. I looked at him sort of funny and wondered what do the mechanics use? I said "Really? Well, alright then, i will order it online." He said "Ok, man, sorry." Since i have started riding again, I have been to all the motor cycle places in lake Charles, la and have been surprised at the lack of stuff for sale. Yes, you can find the basics. get a scooter, settle for an instock but not what you want helmet and an overpriced jacket and you are riding that day. (with approved credit!!) Since I was there, I figured I would look around. I guess i was really disappointed when i was walking around the show room and did not see any GWings. A salesman asked if he could help and i asked where they kept the GWings. They had none. Ok, i guess all these crotch rockets are supporting the electric bill. anyway we chatted about this n that and i was on my way empty handed. I ordered some moly off flea bay after looking around the net. I already knew that the Yama shop had no RSV's on the floor, so i didn't go by there to get some more of their inattentiveness. I went to home and cooked dinner. So how is service and part stock supply in your home town? anyone else get the same treatment?

I never winterize, i just use sta-bil in the gas with the battery tender hooked up. i start it up every week and let it run a bit, that way "white lightning" RSV is ready to roll when we get those few days of ride worthy day throughout the winter season.

I, too, have to thank everyone. when i was looking at our 04 RSV, i found this site while searching for information. it was an easy decision to not only purchase our bike but to join this site. it is a model that others are having a hard time mimicking. I have fixed my bike and have learned how to maintain it. i had an agreement with the previous owner to work on it after i purchased it. but now, that is not necessary. Yes, we are all different from one another, but we know that & work together. Merry Christmas and to all a good ride!

It is nice that your dealer speaks to you. No one, and i mean no one acknowledges your presence when you walk into the Yamaha place in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I have been there 3 times. each time no one even gave me a glance. i had to tap the monitor of the computer the parts "Dude" was looking at to get his attention so i could spend some money. they say the third times the charm. i won't go back in there unless i just have to. the sad thing is - that i was told that's how they are. Seeing is believing. His inventory had signs on them - Do Not Sit On The Bikes. How is that for selling? i guess you have to buy something to see if you like how it feels. No RSV's in stock either. So, I don't put any faith in dealer's. all they want is you to buy something. No building of rapor or just come by & drink some coffee. unless you are a personal friend of theirs. then they want you (as the personal close buddy) to buy the great deal they just ripped some other customer off from.

massey130 replied to eusa1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Say, Big Boy, thanks for the idea. my rear tire is off while waiting for the new one to come in. I might as well clean what i can and lube up the rear shock mounting points. i will put that on my list. -

i hope you get some numbers. we have owned our 04 RSV for 3 months and luckily we have no issues. as a side note, i have ordered a hand pump and aired up the rear shock to make a much more comfortable ride for my wife when we are 2 up. Good Luck -
http://www.sportingforless.com/servlet/the-carb-sync-gauge/Categories this is where i bought my carb sync tool from. paid 48.5o shipping included. i have not used it yet but hope to real soon. just plain busy and when i get some "free" time, i will either sit at the PC and surf VR or i will stand at my lathe and make some wood shavings. i have some scooter stuff planned when it gets a bit colder . i am still waiting on my rear tire, also. anyone loose an unused pop rivet? no takers from my previous thread. it is a tuner that was pictured before. but i have doctored the original to be more user friendly. I believe i have some vacuum leakage at the the vacuum rubber cover, but i will take care of that then as well.

i am not saying what but i could be sayin something. so i won't say anything that i can't. not that you could see what i mean even though you are looking at my post. but you see where i am going. Right?
-
How nice is that! i have not read the how to for doing a carb tune, but i did get my carb tune gauges in about 2 weeks ago. seems like every time i planned to do it, something came up. now i can take wanting to ride off the list for a bit and maybe get the carbs sync'd up.
-
the rear tire off the bike. in another thread i posted about finding the rear tire flat and finding a pop rivet in the middle of the tread. i have to wait until next week before i can order a tire, so in the mean time i could do a carb tune, but i don't want to put the tire on & then off again when the new treads come in. Has anyone done this or should i just wait. dale in La

I will look them up & see what's up their spare parts inventory. thanks for the tips
-
Hey, Annie, does Quickstep need a rivet? this one has some road rash, but should be ok for hidden sheet metal work.
-
Man, that is one wild ride. it makes me commit to making sure my tires are in good order. if that were to happen to us being 2 up, i don't know if i could control the bike and debs reaction in the way of not holding still. i am glad you made it. this is nothing like my paper bike having a flat tire. i could handle that. this is surely different. now going back to read the tire threads to see what i want to get. then order, then wait. but with the rain, i have time.
-
Squid, when i showed Deb the rivet, that's the first thing she said "I am glad that didn't happen on the interstate!'' i really don't want that to happen. how did you manage when your went PoP?
-
If someone has lost one and they want it back, i have found it in the middle of our RSV rear tire. I am hoping there is a reward, because with not so much tread left i am opting to buy a new rear tire instead of repairing it. Well, i am gonna have it patched, then search for a rear rim and make that my spare. Does anyone have a second gen rear rim for sale? other wise i will have to cruise the bay for one. so how did i find the flat you are wondering? WELLLLL - - - I had some time today to ride before the rain hit. but it was not meant to happen. first i locked my keys in the house and Deb locked the window by the door that i normally have to come behind her and lock. then there was no answer on the mobile phone. she had the grand kids so no tellin how long she would be. so i looked at the bugs on the bike and said "self" "you might as well put time to good use." so i got a paint bucket and some towels and washed the bike down. still no one to unlock the house. Ok, lets replace some scratched parts with parts i have been collecting - I put on the new chrome license plate. Then i replaced the right side mirror with one that no scratches on the chrome side. when i sat on the seat to adjust the mirror - I thought - why am i sitting so flat footed? i got off to give a look about and saw the rim sitting on squished rubber. can't get to the tech section without logging on to the website. can't get to the computer without getting into the house. Ok, lets at least get things lined up for the job. about then Deb gets home. I printed out the steps to remove the back tire. while it was the first time to do this, it was no biggie. I had already bought an imitation Carbon One lift adapter and already had an ATV lift that i use for my 4 wheeler. with those 2 items and some basic tools, this is really an easy job. Sooooo. got the tire off and found someone's unused pop rivet. so it's off to tire surfing we go. i would most certainly rather have been riding, but the choice made me today. I hope everyone else's day went smoother, though i did enjoy working on the scoot. dale in La

helmet. he reminds her she is getting a denim shirt that has a collar. her helmet would get in the way. Little did Yama Mama know the dragon slayer had a sword at his throat, massey had a cat with nine tails whip at the ready and Boomer was in positon for a giant wedger just in case this dealer had more on his mind than handing over 3 shirts of different sizes for YMama to try out. Beads of sweat began to form on the dealer's foreward as he . . . . . . . . .

and they are nice. Thanks for the work in getting these done. thanks Don for not putting a road block on these. Lady Massey says i have to get her a jacket to put hers on. I was wondering when she was gonna want some M/C gear! Christmas is jus' around the corner too! while our pins may look like someone else's - they are much different cause they are ours!
