The loss of a fellow rider is always hard to hear. It is even harder when one has met the folks involved. I too had the pleasure of meeting Gary and Leslie at the Ft Collings VentureIN. Gary, there are no words sufficient to express the sorrow I share with you for your loss..........................

Boy, I get to be counted in three or four different groups.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9478&highlight=lightbulb -
I was in communication with Gary (Grandpagek) yesterday and he said they were doing okay. They have to be moved by Friday, and he will be without his computer for a few days. As soon as he gets his phone line installed, he will be back up and running. Ann has another Chemo treatment due tomorrow. She is handling them well, but the side effects are bothering her somewhat. As always, regardless of what life hands them, they are still as chipper as they can be, and they wish each and everyone all the best.

Just glad I was able to help. Besides, it gave me an opportunity to see what modifications I need to make to the trailer to transport a 2d Gen. Never having had to haul a 1st Gen yah know :rotfl:. One minor little thing Juggler overlooked. After we got tyhe scoot onto the trailer, it turned out we needed about 6 inches more to get the rear gate to latch . So, being the genius that I am, I said, "You know, if we back the scoot onto the trailer , the hitch will hang out over the front rail and we can get the ramp to lock. Has anyone tried to back an 800 pound 2d gen up a trailer ramp????:bang head: We own a big thank you to the Harley mechanic who helped us load the scoot onto the trailer. All's well that ends well. We got it backed onto the trailer, the ramp latched, and after lashing the scoot down we were off like a turd of hurdles. Will be making the modifications to the trailer today.

Not a problem Lutz. I spent seven years working in Germany, so I am more than familiar with the more liberal social attitudes over there. And in many ways, I think that the relaxed attitude is much healthier.

Gene........ Thanks much for your generous offer to contribute a portion of the price of the Scooter Hooter to the VentureRider Fund. For the newer members who may not be familiar with the VR fund, it is a general use fund that is supported by voluntary donations from the members. The funds are used to send floral arrangements, help members putting on a ride or event cover the initial out of pocket expenses for the purchase of patches, cover up front deposits for meeting places, etc. The funds advanced for out of pocket expenses are usually reimbursed as funds are collected for the event. Unfortunately, as anyone who has put on an event knows, there are a lot of expenditures which can not be recouped. For those occurrences, the VR fund covers the loss. The VR Fund should not be confused with the funds donated to Don for the upkeep and maintenance of the site. Those are two completely different activities. As noted, any donations made to either the VR Fund or to Don directly are purely voluntary and greatly appreciated. So Gene, thanks again for your most generous offer..........

Squeeze........... You are confused on which joke was deleted. The one about Grandma's boyfriend is still there. And for those that know me can tell you, it has nothing to do with religion.

I have a spare kicking around somewhere which I will be more than happy to let you have (if I can remember where I stored it) for my cost........ But, are you sure you need it? The reason I ask is because I also felt that I have a defective suspension valve. Will not go into the long, drawn out reasons for my ending up with two extra rear shocks and a spare valve assembly...... but, check the soldering on your control head. You may very well have a cold solder crack which is not giving you a fault code......... Just a suggestion from someone who learned the hard (and expensive) way..... Russell

Folks, I am by no means a prude...... And I enjoy a good joke as much as anyone, and I know I have told more than my fair share of "blue" jokes in my yound life. But, please remember that it is our intent to try and maintain this as a PG rated site. That being said, I have done a soft delete on one of the jokes and will have the other moderators review it. If they feel it is appropriate, it will be reactivated. And I will stand corrected and will personaly apologize to the member that posted it. Thanks you.

Okay all you doubters. Independant verification from someone who wasn't even able to make the breakfast. Old habits from my HD riding days are hard to break. If you rode it, it needs to be repaired............

This is a day that will go down in the anals of VenureRider history. As you folks may know, ythere was a breakfast Meet and Eat held in St. Paul, MN this morning. And......... (drum roll please)................... Black owl was the only one that showed up on a scoot. Of course I looked like a drowned rat when I got there. Got about 10 miles down the road from the house when the sky's opened up...........

As I am also insured by the "lizard". would sure be interested in getting some facts in this occurrence if you have them. And actually, it's not a bad idea to read the policy once in a while. Some folks may not fully understand their coverage and may not have the coverage they think they have. For example. How does your carrier define a "Fire". In some policies, there must be open flame. If that is the case, a shorted wire harness, which can run several hundred dollars to replace, may not be covered. Also, what about all the extra equipment and chrome accessories you are adding to the bike? Are they covered, or do you need a rider to cover the aftermarket parts? Do you have both uninsured and underinsured coverage? There is a major difference. Just some food for thought..........

Tried to bring some rhubarb root back from Canada a couple of weeks ago. When I told the customs gal that I had rhubarb root, you'd think I had just uttered a secret terrorist word. She had me pull the truck over and a few minutes later 3 customs agents swooped down on the truck. Unfortunately, the Customs agent really didn't seem to care that the rhubarb has been in the family for over 150 years and actually started out in Illinois. Seems that you can't bring anything into the country that will propagate. Oh well, such is life.........
