I'm home too, Tom!! Sounds like a great vacation, and will be looking forward to seeing you Sunday. BTW it's shorter to come down 77/98 into Arcade than going down 16 unless you were planning on comiong down 2Rod or something...

Finally home from the hospital and doing fine! Sure missed my own bed and my wife beside me! Also, my kitty missed me too. He is meowing and cuddling next to me. Many many thanks for all the cards and calls, especially you out of state people! Sure made me feel great and realise what a great family we have here! Here's a shocker, I even got a card from the Chaplain from the Venturers!! How in the world the other site found about my hospitilization is beyond me! So, I hopefully will be walking around in a couple of weeks. I can do limited walking on my heal now, but I'm talking about regular walking. I should be off work for a couple of months, so everyone is welcome to stop by and set a spell anytime!

My foot got worse, and I've been very sick for over a week now. Will probably be having surgery very soon. I'm having trouble walking, and if any of you guys would like to stop by on your way back from Don's this weekend, I need the help of a couple of strong bikers putting in window AC units. Also would apreciate the company and moral support...

Reiny, my foot got worse and can't ride for a while, so can't meet up with you, but if you like, stop on by for a spell, and maybe you can sell me a couple of t shirts...

Loss of Power
bongobobny replied to Rizzo's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Fuel filter is what I suspect too! The god old law of supply and demand. Low fuel dflow fine for low RPM's but not enough for higher RPM's... Always the possibility of your fuel pump crapping out as well. -
Fuel Gage Repair 84 Venture

Actually, you can increase the tension of the wiper arm by loosening the nut on the end and push closer and retighten the nut... Know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Changed mine out last year and now it works sanely! -
Who knows, maybe Becky and I can make that one...

Will an 85 wheel fit an 86?
bongobobny replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You are talking front only, right? I'm not sure the rears are interchangable without changing rotors AND differential gears (not 100% sure on the gears but I do know the rear ends are not compatible... -
Need some help advice on TIRES.....
bongobobny replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes, there is a lot involved with removing and reinstalling the rear tire. According to the manual, you need to remove both mufflers (unless you happen to have a 26mm box wrench) or at least losen them so they can be dropped out of the way. It also calls for removing the rear fender, or go the route of raising the bike enough to clear it after unbolting it. Heaven forbid if you happen to have the ooptional aftermarket rear bumper and trailer hitch like I do. Sooo, their labor price is not out of the question. I paid $186 (with a discount) for my Dunlop Elite II, which are getting scarcer every day, plus another $20 nto mount and balance the new tire. So, I'm thinking your local dealer is not too far out of the ballpark. As far as the front shocks, there is also a lot of labor involved with removing the front tire to remove the shock tubes from the bike just to replace the seals, and then reassemble everything. At $40 to $50 per hour for labor or more, it adds up quick... -
Bike dies while running
bongobobny replied to Tupperj's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yah, I agree with Squeeze, especially when you mentioned you heard "crackling sounds" from under the false tank. I strongly recommend replacing the fuse block (do a search on the subject, lotsa good info here) and go from there. When you replaced the battery cables I assume you upgraded to the larger guage wires. The only other upgrade I suggest is the Odessy battery for hot starting issues, but your problem sounds more like a corroded fuse connection... -
I wasn't super happy with XM mostly due to random drop out. Came free for 6 months with Mr Monte and when ther trial was over I didn't subscribe. Instead I have a 30G IPOD and a CD colection of over 600 CD's so I'm good... Did like the comercial free non stop music aspect of XM, but I can do that with my IPOD. Could care less about talk radio. If I want that I'll listen to AM!

air suspention not workin HELP
bongobobny replied to run n bare's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would strongly suggest resoldering all of the pin connections on the connectors first to eliminate the possibility of that being the problem. I have seen that exact problem on a class controller, and if I recall right, soldering did fix that problem. Ed, if you need to, I have a spare controller unit you can borrow for troubleshooting... -
Clutch Switch
bongobobny replied to 91nwl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
As far as your headlight, sure, replace it with a Sylvania Silverstar or GE Nighthawk or maybe a PIAA. The main idea is that your headlight is possibly 17 years old and at this time living on borrowed time... -
Buddy, thanks for confirming what I thought about the '86 up boards. I picked up a pair on ebay a few months ago and though I haven't tried mounting them yet, they LOOKED like they would fit...

We're going to a weddeing on the 7th, but if you guys aren't returning until Sunday, take a slight detour on the way home and stop by! Go due east from Dunkirk and find Rt 39. We live on 39 just past Rt 16...

According to my owner's manual, it states "It has been reported to us by other Piggy Backer owners that tire pressure between 40 and 50 PSI seems to work well. Tire pressure listed on the tire itself is 60 PSI. To prevent excessive tire ear, check your tire pressure once the trailer is loaded before and during your trip." Hope that answers your question. My Piggy Backer XL is only half assembled as of this morning...
