  1. Not to climb on a soapbox here (but some will feel that way ) I would like to say something about our CEO. Some of you have personally met Freebird, I am fortunate enough that I live about 3 hours away and can spend time with him and his family. Don is a VERY good friend of mine, and like all of my friends, I will come to his side when anyone tries to challenge his autority here (Dont get PC with that statement) I heard it mentioned a couple times about giving someone a warning about inappropriate comments or behavior. Trust me when I say that we DO do that. There have been a few that have been warned about postings that were made. Don truly hates to do this, he is one of the nicest, easiest going folks you'll ever meet. I, on the other hand, agree with a couple of warnings and then your gone. I have no tolerence for idiots and have no problems if they are not here. We moderators do talk and together decide what actions, if any, should be taken to folks that cross the line. I have mentioned it before that YOU folks make this site what it is. The Moderators and Freebird just steer it sometimes, it's usually on cruise control. I too have to bite my tounge on a few posts as I dont get along with all views here, but thats life and it wont ruin my day. Thank you to all that enjoy this place and especially to Don for all his efforts to give us the best place on the web....for free! BTW...We do watch the troublemakers, and know who they are
  2. Good to hear Brother, it will be nice that you both will be in the same state now
  3. OK I want to buy a ticket to win this one
  4. Well Lonna and I did 725 miles in 25 hours to go riding in Canada not so long ago ....and we had ice cream to boot I would go farther for a weekend stay
  5. Jeff, Are you going to try and make it a true trike, or something along the lines of what Froggie has on his '99. I haven't forgot about our earlier conversation...just been swamped with work and I dont know of any kits by me to look at
  6. This website works because of all of YOU! It started out as a technical forum but quickly turned into a riding/eating club. The majority of the folks here have 1 thing in common that many other sites dont....respect for others opinions. I'll be the first to admit that I dont always agree with everyones opinion, but that is life and I deal with it. This site gives us hope, hope that we can all work on getting along and as different as we are, we can still enjoy these bikes, together. This place is very addictive, the only reason I'm not on here more than I am is my work schedule. I have a mission with this website, and thats to meet everyone that will be willing to meet me. It's good to hear that this place stirs your souls as it does mine
  7. I put a relay on them, I always do that with driving light on whatever I install them on.
  8. GW, Those are the same lights that I had on my '86 and at $20 they are a bargan
  9. Larry, The lights your looking at are nice, but man are they expensive! For the lighting watt question, I would go with the 35 watt bulbs. You cant notice from the difference with the naked eye and it will save the charging system much grief. I dont know if your specifically looking for a squared off looking light, but I had these round ones on my '86 and they work great. http://www.optronicsinc.com/proburners.htm The model I used was the Qh-75IT and I put 35 watt bulbs in them. I paid $20 at Walmart for them and just had to modify the base slightly. Just an option to think about
  10. I have PM'd him and hopefully he'll shoot me back a reply soon. We'll get it figured out and see if we can't rustle up a M&E out in the desert somewhere
  11. I do believe that this bike is an original color Wayne (WTHO) has an identical color scheme on his.
  12. I love it when you try to Buffalo me MamaMO...makes me laugh out loud
  13. Well Mini....He did join a Yamaha club Atleast the only one that really counts I am assuming that you have been in contact with him? I'm wondering if he has a scoot to be able to ride. I'm sure we could twist some arms in that area to maybe have a Meet and Eat I'll work on getting ahold of him and see what his stay is looking like. Thanks for stepping up and putting forth the effort to help him out
  14. Great ideas already, but I think that we need to talk with a big group like Abate or something along that line. Perhaps there is an idea similar to what is proposed here that we are unaware of. We have the winter to discuss it, I applaud the effort by all who have jumped ion here so far
  15. On your key issue, I would shoot some WD40 down into the key slot and work it around. It's not going to hurt the contacts and will more than likely clean out any grime that might be causing your problem.
  16. We are a pathetic lot aren't we The internet goes down and we say to eachother what do we do now Glad to hear it cleared up, I know how MO gets when she can't come on here and stir the pot
  17. Well I will say this, I'd much rather ride to places on the bike than trailering it. But sometimes it's unavoidable, like when we are going to run away over Christmas...yes the bike will be trailered, but only because it will be to sloppy to ride it out of Michigan.
  18. It had to work on someone JT, besides how can you go wrong for $30
  19. Another Bump.....Christmas gift ladies
  20. Thanks for posting that up Tim...sent one just now
  21. Sorry to say, but that would be too much weight and unbalanced at that. You would have to have electric brakes or somekind of brake system on the trailer.
  22. I didn't like that link...about 10 popups after I tried to get to see it
  23. Jeff, Make sure that if you install LED brake lights and turn signals that you have a load equalizer installed with it. The turn signals will flash very fast and shallow as the bikes charging system is designed for the load of the standard bulbs. ...and there you have it....Sparkette (I didn't call you sparky )
  24. Jack, I dont have a weight # in lbs....but it's not much of nothing. I did it to lighten it up a bit and to be able to polish it up. The Stainless one works great and the only reason I sometimes knew it was there is we were loaded heavy on the bike 2 up. If I was riding solo, I would probably have forgot about it
  25. Thanks Charlie, I made a new one out of Aluminum so that I could polish it to a mirror finish. Now all I have to do to it is put a clearcoat on it and it's good to go
