  1. Merry Christmas to all and thanks from the Comstock's
  2. Have a safe and wonderful holiday from the Comstock family.
  3. I think my rides are over for this year. The white stuff is on the ground this morning If you get out enjoy the ride for all of us that can’t
  4. Barrie is still snow free but only barely. I spent the day winterizing the two bikes, lawnmower and other gas equipment. Can only hope it’s a short winter.

    IM home

Rest up big guy. Time to relax and get healthy
  6. Probably the same, as changing out the fork springs. Yup and that is the reason we did both at the same time
  7. The front was bouncing and wobbling at 50km/30m per hour. At that speed with 6 lbs. of air in the forks I could get 1 inch bounce on the windshield. The Yamaha dealer at the shop told me it was tires. I put new tires on it and it didn’t change a thing. They then checked the bearings in the front end and told me everything is perfect and that’s how they ride. Just before Squidley move I road over to show him. Quick trip 5.5 hrs one way. Squidley looked at it, road it and raised the air pressure to 9. The bounce was almost all gone. A year later I was at 12 to 13 lbs in each shock to keep the front end stable. Yamaha said they know the front shock springs are too week but they wouldn’t cover the cost to fix it. They said it was not a warranty item. I was not going to pay them to fix it after that. Chucks bike started to get the same symptoms and that’s why two rookies tacked the job on our, with help from Squidley.
  8. It all started when the shop wanted 5 hours @ $100 an hour just to tear down (plus tax) and reassemble the front of each bike. I talked to Chuck the owner of the other bike and he agreed this was too much money. I talked to a couple of favourites here Marcarl and Squidley, you may recognize the handles. They said take your time and you can do it. When my wife came home and found us in the garage with two bikes and the entire front ends removed. God bless her sole, she said……… Squidley....... said whatttt?????? Are you sure you know what you’re doing. Too which I replied. UUUMMMM . She walked away with a smile. Here is a link to what it looks like with the front end removed. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=735 Well 8 to 10 hours of work and we had everything back together. Took a little longer but I know every bolt is in and tight. What a difference in the ride. Thanks guys for the tips. Carl :thumbsup2: Brad :thumbsup2:
  9. The rate jumped from $400 to $2400 for the Shadow because they make Chris the primary on it. I also pay $550 for the 1990 VR and $700 for the 2007 RSV. No one in the house has a ticket or accident on their licence. Your correct in saying we get raped here.
  10. I sold the Honda 600 Shadow VLX today. I really like that bike but the insurance was unaffordable with 3 bikes ($2400 just for it). My daughter, son and wife all learnt to ride on that bike. It was hard to watch someone drive off with it. It just didn’t make sense to have it just sit in the garage for the next 3 to 4 years. The gentleman was very pleased and happy with the shape and looks of it. Funny thing, my son didn’t want me to sell it to anyone that he felt wouldn’t keep care of it. He wouldn’t sell it to two younger boys that tied to purchase it. It was his first bike and was hard for him to see it drive off into the distance.
  11. Welcome back, I am sure glad you’re back in the saddle. Don’t rush it and it will come. Does feel good to ride again. Take care bud
  12. Glad your OK. I hope the weather breaks soon. Keep us updated and ride safely.
  13. I’m sorry to hear James is not well, tell him to take it easy and rest. I hope it’s a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with him, his family and his friends.
  14. We will have no part of that. That's why he road the Honda for the first two months this year. There will be no scattered parts along any roadways, just some good conversations at the end of the day:thumbsup2:
  15. It's going to be a long day at school for him today. He had it fired up and purring last night at midnight.
  16. I don't understand why when you "roll on the throttle, the bike doesn't pick up speed" Can someone explain.
  17. His 1990 Venture Royale is ready for the road. Put the bike together tonight and will licence the new scoot tomorrow. I will post pics of him and his new bike tomorrow. He’s at work tonight and has school tomorrow so they will have to wait. He doesn’t know I worked on it tonight so it will be a surprise when he gets in. This is a big jump for him from a 600 Shadow to a 1300 Royale. I have to say the first Gen is one fast, smooth bike and it has all the trinkets and toys. Now that I have a First Gen with my :bowdown:Second Gen in the garage, I can understand the bantering between both members. It won’t be long before it starts here.

  19. Before I bought the headset the radio was at 18 to 21. Then I picked up a head set for the open face helmet and the volume control was reduced to 12 to 14. I just got a Nolan N103 and it works like a charm, now it is down around 5 or 6. This tells me the background noise is substantially lower.

    My Sons New Bike

Thanks midnite, easyduzzit and SteveW and the rest Squidley I think it is. It needs a little work but over all its in nice shape Monty, Chris just turned 18 Mini-Muffin thanks and I hope I know what I am doing, They are enjoying the riding so that’s good for me. MarCarl, I have and will continue to tell him. We are going to do some work on it first, this way he starts off on the smaller bike. He has only gone up and down the road here. No plates on it yet. Beau-Kat I have been lucky this way. Chris has never liked the sport bikes and has always liked the cruisers. LilBeaver, he is just inching to ride but the weather is not there yet. I told him we need to fix a few things first because once it hits the road I wouldn't be able to get him off it. For now its the Shadow. Yaa it’s nice that we all share the same interest. That doesn’t happen often. Old Venter 8, thanks I will, he is proud as a peacock, I think the old man is also.
  22. My son asked if he could upgrade to a lager bike this year. He is over six feet tall and the Shadow was too small for him. He wanted a bike with hard bags that could be locked. We looked all around at a number of bikes and he is the proud owner of a 1st Gen. A 1990 Yamaha Venture Royal with 30000 miles (50000 Km). My wife and daughter don’t want me to sell the Shadow so they can ride it. Now I have 3 ponies in the stable to look after. True to form.... Here are some pics
