  1. Get the part numbers and try this place. I haven't found anyone cheaper but I haven't price compared in a while. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/
  2. Hey I just noticed somethin. Why did you leave the rear passenger floorboards on? Inquiring minds want to know.
  3. OOOW WEEE Sweat!!!!!
  4. Thanks Joe.
  5. You may have seen mine. I have a MM with tan pillowtop seats but they are spray painted with a vinyl/plastic stray paint. If I had it to do again I would prep it with a tacky spray the same company makes to help the vinyl spray adhere better. After repeated rides (about 5 or 6) the paint starts flaking off. I'm currently in the process of haveing the pillowtops recovered.
  6. I know I can read, as I said I don't know of any fixes to this problem...Glad Yamaha is fixing it
  7. It sure is pretty! But don't look at the price. You know in 1999 when the 2nd gen first came out it was a lot better than a Harley Ultra and a heck of a lot cheaper. Now 12 years later the 2011 has made so many improvements like the cd changer being stock instead of an accessory and aaah, aaah, aaah like the cd player being stock instead of an accessory. Where the Harley has improved engine performance, working on the heat generated by the engine to the rider comfort, fuel injection, wider rear tire, new frame, etc... and now the Venture has almost caught the Harley in price. I'm sorry but I just can not see the justification in Yamaha raising the price so much with no changes in the 12 year old bike. Don't get me wrong I love my Venture's and would not trade them for a Harley but at least Harley is trying to improve their product. I'll wait 3 years until the 2011 Venture comes down to my price range. I'm not bashing my Venture's as in my opinion that is the best bike I've ever owned but I'm not paying $21,000 for one either. Now if they maid the right improvements maybe just maybe.
  8. Rock and mineral collecting and old pocket watch collecting.
  9. At those speeds you will pass everything except a gas station!
  10. I doubt if this will help BUT you never know. I have a 2nd gen (2001) that was leaking oil in that same area. I found out that it was loose bolts. The bolts that bolt the top engine half to the bottom engine half. I don't remember if there are 6 or 8 bolts and it may not matter because your engine could have 4 or 12 but some of the bolts were just sitting in the holes. I tightened them all up and it cured my oil leak.
  11. Well this has blossomed into several different issues hasn't it. First I don't know if you could call it a trike if it has four wheels but who cares what else would you call it. Maybe a qaud or a 4 wheeler? B, Come on down here and I'll be glad to ride with all of you. 3, The law applies to the people and not the police officers. At least that is how I see it. Don't get me wrong I highly respect the police officers and I would not have their jobs for anything BUT the motorcycles are just one example of do as I say not as I do. Down here my son dark tinted his windows then Ga. made it illegal to have dark tint on your windows. My son has gotten two tickets at $155 each for not taking the tint off when it became illegal YET half the police cars down here have dark tinted windows. There are posted speed limits down here that seem to only apply to us as the police officers are always speeding. It goes on and on. D, the law makers have to much free time if they have to make laws that state how many wheels a motorcycle can have.
  12. I have not heard of this problem or a fix but there were problems with the trunks on 1999 and 2000 models but it was with the plastic trunk not being supported enough and Yamaha changed to the new way to support the trunk and they came out with a kit to fix the 99's and 2000's. I don't know if maybe that is what your talking about.
  13. There is an old saying "after me comes #1". So you can't make both happy on one bike. It is your bike so make it like YOU like it. If she doesn't like it then work with her about getting HER a bike.
  14. Terry you don't know how much I hate to hear this. You have become an icon around here. Although I do understand. Hopefully we will be able to ride together again sometime. I have seen where your plate has been filling up. Seems as the rides you were able to make I was not and the rides I was able to make you could not. I wish you all the success and happiness in your endeavor. I hope someone will pick up where you left off but I don't think any one person could do that. Hopefully we will all be able to pitch in and try to accomplish what you have done for us the last 3 years. Ride safe my friend, Harry
  15. I have a friend that got one for Christmas from his wife. I have not ridden on it but I did sit on it and here are my observations, 1) Very nice looking seat if you like the pillowtop look (which I do). 2) It is really a two tone seat. The sides are black but the top is a soft almost suede like feeling dark gray. 3) It is a one piece seat similar to Corbin. 4) It has no passenger backrest so the dark gray seat does not match the black rear passenger backrest although in my opinion it doesn't look to bad. 5) It is a very very firm seat and so you sit high in the saddle. Great if you are tall but if you are on the short side you want to sit on one before you buy it. I had a Mustang seat on my Road Star and I loved it. I don't know if I could get used to riding so high in the saddle with this or not. If it was comfortable after 4 or 5 hours of riding then I would probably get it and would live with trying to hold it up when I stop. I'm 5'10" and I can reach the ground just fine but I do notice I'm a little more on my toes. Hopefully someone who has ridden on one will chime in but this is my initial observations. Harry
  16. Your welcome but Sylvester was the first one to do it. I just copied his idea. just make sure you prep the seats real good and make sure you use a paint especially made for vinyl. It will crack over time but you just touch it up every now and then. You don't have to redo the whole seat.
  17. WOW looks great. I painted the cracks first. I spread it out so that I could spray into the cracks. I would use my hand to hold apart until it dried enough to touch or use clear packing tape or in some cases heavy weights to hols it apart. It has held up pretty well with a little ware on the side where my thigh rubs. I just touch it off every once in a while. Must of the seat has not been retouched at all.
  18. Has the bike been down or hit anything? A friend hit another bike and took a hit to the right side. The bracket the the front hand brake relay attaches to was bent. We straightened it and the brake light went out. Just trying all the bases.
  19. My Venture is adjusted for my home turf of about 1000' MSL and last summer above 7,000 temperature around 100 and loaded to the max (saddlebags, trunk, and as much on the luggage rack as I could carry) I topped out by the Yamaha speedo at 110. The Ultra Classic Screaming Eagle would I was riding with did about the same.
  20. I have both and to me the pillowtop is far more comfortable. However I did buy a used Corbin and that makes a difference. I like the look of the Corbin better.
  21. I think it looks sharp. HOWEVER it basically looks like a stripped down sportier version of the Voyager and if it is it will be interesting to see if it inherits the same problems as the Voyager. The Voyager for example looks great far away but looks cheap up close. Ex; mold marks and poor fit. Also need to see if it gets real hot sitting on it at traffic lights as some say the Voyager does. If it does not have those problems then I say go for it.
  22. You know this exact thing happened to me 3 years ago. The car pulled out of a driveway about 20 feet in front of me. I had no room to maneuver so I locked everything up in a panic stop situation. A split second went by and it was clear to me that I was not going to stop in time. I laid the bike over only to hit the side of the truck. The impact catapulted me back upright at which time I hit the handle bars, mirrors, windshield and anything else between me and the front of the bike. After I hit all that I immediately left the bike as it careened off to the left and I fell flat on my back. So in my accident I think that laying the bike over actually increased the impact as I was catapulted back up into the truck.
  23. Not an improvement. They have been putting chrome forks on the Venture ever since they started making the Midnight Venture. I think that was 2002 but not sure.
  24. The only improvements I've seen is to reinforce the trunk. I've noticed little changes in rubber covers and things like that but no improvements. Just change the color every year and since the 2000MM the color changes would not be an improvement but a detriment.
