  1. I did not use the disk. My computer just downloaded the video.
  2. #728. I have seen several that have been parted out after a crash and I've seen a couple that where wrecked and put back together without the trunk.
  3. I am very sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in your time of sorrow.
  4. I guess he is only familiar with Harley's. I'm sure some make it over 100,000 without a rebuild but from the people I talk too most need to be rebuilt between 60,000 and 80,000.
  5. Your right. The Harley friend told me he wanted to buy a used Harley and he wanted to trade his in. They wanted to give him nothing for his Harley but they wanted top dollar for theirs. When you are the number 1 brand of motorcycle in America of course you will have a large amount of used Harley's. They are all crooks just like the car salesmen.
  6. All the dealers are like that. I have a Harley friend that tried to trade in his Harley and he was complaining because they only offered him $5,300.
  7. Yamaha use to make two slightly different Ventures a year. Slight difference in chrome and one of two color choices. That stopped in 2010. 2010 and 2011 only have one Venture with no options. They come fully dressed. Yamaha also scaled down production from what I feel are two reasons. 1) In 2009 I believe Yamaha lost a ton of money. And 2) for some reason Yamaha has not advertised the Venture. I don't believe Yamaha actually knows what it had. Yamaha has raised the price on a Venture to way way over priced. I would agree with the higher price if the Venture had been getting upgrades throughout the years like Harley's and Honda's. Yamaha is upgrading there fleet but they are starting with the smaller bikes and the VMax.
  8. Just tell her to eat the stuff that taste bad and stay away from the good stuff. That ought to keep her until you get back. Had mine removed Jan. 2008 and I don't miss it one bit.
  9. I certainly hope and pray those two make a full recovery. One of the Harley guys has a old police cruiser and I guess he wanted to leave me every time we took off. I'll admit from the take off the Harley is quick but once I get out of 1st and into second and start winding it out and the RPM's get up there I would eat him up in 2nd, 3rd and 4th but we never got to 5th. These Ventures do run better at the higher RPM's.
  10. Thanks that explains it. I guess that makes since. I kinda figured something like that must be going on.
  11. I took the battery out of my 2001 and put it in my 2000MM and everything works fine even the CB. I don't know why a weak battery causes the CB to act up but it did. I figured everything should work fine until I shut her off.
  12. Thanks Randy.
  13. As many of you already know I had my seats redone on my MM. Several comments were put in there hoping that they would ride as good as they looked. Well I took her out for a spin today (about 350 miles) and she rode just fine. I was a little concerned because the newly redone seat was much firmer than the pillowtop and I loved the pillowtop. Dorsi removed the pillowtop portion of the seat leaving the foam foundation and put a piece of 1/2" firmer foam on top of the foam foundation. I explained to Dorsi that when I ride my tailbone never hurts but my sitting bones (the two bones that push into the seat) are the bones that start burning and become very sore. I had brought a pattern to Dorsi of where my sitting push into the seat and I figured if we remove the foam foundation where those two spots are that would eliminate the problem. Well it seemed to have worked. The two sitting bones did not get sore today. My entire (bottom) would start to get a little sore and a little wiggle or repositioning would get rid of the little stinging and I would be satisfied for a while. When we stopped at lights I saw other riders standing up and as we were going down the road they were standing on the floor boards to give their posterior a break but not me. So I am very please with the seats both the way they look and the way they ride.
  14. How embarrassing! Today a large group of us went to a restaurant in a neighboring state. About 350 miles round trip from my house. There were a mixture of bikes but mostly Harley's and the Harley's came with their usual attitude. Not all but of few. I ride the only bike there is... a Harley. I politely offered to show them another bike (my Venture) every time I heard that statement. The Victory riders, the Honda Goldwing riders, The Raider riders and yes the other Venture rider all took it without a rebuttal but not I. I was proud of my Venture. I was tailgunner of the 16 bikes because I had a working CB. Everything was fine and dandy until the last stop for gas. Everyone was saddled up and waiting for me to give them the OK. Well guess what. My battery died. I could just hear those Harley guys saying to themselves that Japanese piece of ___________ (I'll let each of you fill in the blank). Well 3 of the Yamaha guys got off their bikes and gave me a push and she started right up. Now we are going down the road and my stereo stars braking up and I realize I haven't heard the usual chatter on the CB. So I call and no answer. I turn off the CB and the radio cleared up. So now I can't figure out what happened to the CB. After a while since the leader had not heard from me in a while they decided to pull over to see if I was still with them and of course I was. I did not shut off the Venture as I was afraid it would not crank but it sat there and idled just fine. We decided since I was having problems and could not talk to anyone it was not wise to keep me in the rear and a member with a Harley turned on his CB and off we went. Well his CB did not work either so there we were again. After one more stop with me leaving mine running while we all too a break we headed home. I took the battery out of my 2001 and put it in my 2000 and everything seems to work as it should. So I'll probably NEVER live this one down with the Harley group.
  15. Alright I went to the garage and found the tube. I have never noticed it before either. Mine is not connected but on one end. So my guess would be a vent tube but I don't really know.
  16. Thanks again for the compliments from everyone. Dorsi's phone number is in the original post for anyone wishing to contact her. Anyone with a 2 Gen that is thinking about the bibs here is a little more information. As mentioned earlier this is the 1st tank bib Dorsi has made for a Venture. In fact this is the first tank bib she has ever made! How is that for talent! Being custom made she had no pattern so if you look close enough you will see s little wavering in the sewing and a little wavering in the stud placement BUT you have to look close and the overall effect is outstanding IMHO. Like the original rubber tank bib you need to put two sided tape on the back so it will lay flat. Another thing I had Dorsi put felt on the back so the studs would not rub the tank. Problem. The two sided tape does not hold well to the felt so the tape has to make contact with the vinyl. If anyone wants Dorsi to work on one for them I will take my bib off and let her use it as a pattern for your bike and I will also work with Dorsi to find another backing material so that the two sided tape will stick to everything. Also Dorsi's turn around time is very very good.
  17. Thanks everyone for the great comments and support. Randy Dorsi is wanting to know the same thing. She wants me to ride it awhile and let her know how it feels. She replaced the pillowtop foam with a firmer 1/2" foam and a few other mods. It is not hard but is firmer than what I am used to from the pillowtop but is not as hard as the Corbin. I had her make a pad cover from a memory foam bath floor mat I also want to try out.
  18. It's not real it's vinyl so I did not have to sacrifice and arm And a leg just part of a leg... from the knee down. I wanted something that was easier on the wallet and would hold up and be easy to take care of. Thanks
  19. NICE! It looks like it will fly.
  20. Well some of you may remember I got pillowtops for my MM. I sprayed them tan to match my MM as my original seats were tan. Well they looked great but the more you rode the more they cracked and the tan paint started flaking off. Even though the paint was specifically made for auto seats and dashes. So I started looking for someone who would re-due the pillowtops in tan. I could not find anyone who would mess with redoing the pillowtops. So I got Dorsi of Burney's Uphostlery in McDonough, Ga. 706-819-8580 to re-due the pillowtop seats by removing the pillowtop portion, redoing the Ultima backrest, the passenger seat and the passenger backrest AND making me a tank bib AND a trunk bib. Now the interesting part of this is Dorsi has never redone a Venture seat before and Dorsi had never made any tank bib or trunk bib before. So feast your eyes on Dorsi's first Venture job. I am very very happy with it!:thumbsup2:
  21. Mustang DOES have a driver and passenger seat for the Venture. They came out with it about 6 months ago. A friend has one. It is a firmer seat than the pillow top and it sits you higher. My friend had cut his windshield down and after he got the Mustang for Christmas his windshield was too low so now he needs another windshield.
  22. Your in my thoughts and prayers Gunboat.
  23. Well I'm going a different route on this one. The bigger Clearview (and I would have the Honda vent put in) is definitely better but your wife has a cheaper option. Trade you in for another driver about 6'4" 250 lbs. He would block all the wind off her.
  24. What don't you have any snow tires for you Yamaha? You know like the ones in the 007 movies where you push a button and spikes pop out of the tires for traction. We can laugh now but this summer when we are riding around in 98+ degree temps with relative humidity at 75% or higher and your riding around in upper 70's or mid 80's you'll be the one laughing. I do hope you can get out soon.
