  1. I'm 5'11" and I have a 9" Yamaha low boy windshield. I bought it new and installed it. I got on the bike and my head was completely over the windshield. I didn't even ride with it on. I took it right back off. I didn't like no head protection at all. I also have a 13" windshield that I can see over. Standard width. I get a little buffeting off it but not much. I can emagine you would get a lot of buffeting off the 6 or 8 or 9 inch shields. The low boy is a 9" shield. If you want the low boy make me an offer. I have $120 in it. But like I said I did not ride with it I just took it off because I didn't like how low it was.
  2. I just checked and I don't see where it says 6th gear. The 2011 features and spec's I checked both say 5 gears. And that makes sense to me. Why would they spend the money to put in a 6th gear in a 12 year old design. I did notice the new MSRP of $20,090! I like my Venture a lot more than a Harley but if I had to buy a new touring bike and I had to pay that price I would switch to a Harley Ultra Classic. It may not be as good as the Venture but at least they are trying to update the Ultra and it would have a better resell value. That is why I have a 2000MM and a 2001. Why by a new one when I can save $15,000 off list and buy the exact same bike except for the color. And if the owner who sells the used bike is half way smart I get better tires also.
  3. Now that is something I have never seen. A Venture being trailered. Plenty of Harleys but no Ventures. Hey the seats don't fall off the Harleys when they are trailered or there would be seats all over the highway.
  4. I stand corrected. Very good perspective I haven't thought about. Thanks, I think???
  5. I can still send you mine. I would think it would cost less to ship from the US than Canada. Just let me know. I think a lot of people would be interested in a lower priced shock. There is already enough choices in overpriced shocks. Harry
  6. Well, I guess, I am not sure if anyone here has had bad things with Wellsfargo. I did call the bank today and filed a dispute on the charge from Troy. It was simple, and they even gave me a provisional credit for the amount. Now the burden of proof lies with Paypal. I have my money back into my account already and very happy. That's the best way to handle it in my opinion. Going through PayPal is very slow and no guarantees. The fact of the matter is this..... It is not that the leather making process is time consuming. It is that Troy, IMHO, is a thief. Harry, if I were to just leave it as it is, I am just authorizing Troy to use Paypal as a tool to steal money from others just to pay for my order? This is not right in my eyes. I agree and I don't think Troy should be advertising on Ebay. That takes payment up front and as we all know Troy has not been responsible enough to handle other peoples money long enough to complete the order. If a thief is caught stealing, lets say at Lowe's (where I work). Is it then OK, to pay us back by stealing from Kmart to make his money? I don't think I can justify that. I agree. Stealing is stealing and should not be tolerated. However I don't know if Troy has stolen anything from anybody yet. No one has more of a right to be mad at Troy than I and I am mad but just because Troy does not do the job in the time frame as promised doesn't make him a thief, lier yes but thief no. I did not believe I was going to get my items just like you. Since then I have started getting a piece at a time so that makes him a lier in my book not a thief. I freely gave Troy my money and so did you. I did not intend for Troy to take so long and neither did you. Other members here have taken longer than my order. So I don't think Troy is a thief anymore, lier yes, slow as malasses yes but like I said before I don't know of anyone who Troy took their money and never delivered there item. I am sorry if this makes anyone else's situation rough, or he is unable to make your orders. That is not my intent. My intent is to stop all of this madness. He is a thief, no matter which way you look at it. And eventually it has to stop. It is just like the Ponzi schemes that people run. They have to continue to collect money to make good on past obligations. If you are tired of waiting I don't blame you for cancelling your order. Troy should be man enough to give you your money back instead of you having to file a charge back. I don't think anyone would blame you for doing what your doing after all you are the victim here not Troy. I am sorry to Troy if this causes more difficulties in his quest to live a better life. I was not trying cause you more harm, and I know how it feels to be down on luck. I didn't steal to get where I am today. I didn't lie to get where I am today. In fact, I had to give up many of the material things that I would have like to have. If I had to sell some of my personal things to make some money, I did that. Now, thanks to hard work and a more sensible style of personal management, I am very well off. Don't worry I know you are not trying to hurt anyone else's chances you are just looking after your investment as you should. Troy, if you read all this.... I am sorry about your situation. But after everything I read and have heard from you, you brought it on yourself. Believe it or not, but there are many people right now that are working at lower paying jobs to make things meet. They are not stealing from people.
  7. Sounds like me. Fix one thing and break something else.
  8. E3's! Read all the post on Avon sidewall cracking. Until they figure out why so many are cracking I'm sold on E3's. 14000 on front and rear and still going. Oh E3's are not the greatest on Tar snakes though.
  9. Here is some info I found on the forum. It says they are off a 1998. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31439 Read through this and see if it answers your question. Harry
  10. The post did not say and the HD parts just showed it as a HD muffler. Sorry.
  11. A post on a HD forum says it's a R/K muffler off a R/K Classic.
  12. Sound good.
  13. I have one I can send you. Let me know if you still need it. My other shock just started leaking so if they can make one I'll be glad to try it out for them. LOL Just let me know. Harry
  14. Hey Sylvester who did your seats Troy or someone else? Just trying to figure out if this is only Troy taking so long or if other leather fabricators are slow also. Harry
  15. That is how I do it. I just had to use PayPal's buyer protection plan. What a joke. I purchased something from a dealer who had about 20 items for sell. As soon as all the auctions were over he closed his ebay account and stopped responding to emails. I called ebay and they told me that my purchase was covered by the PayPal Buyers Protection Plan if I use PayPal. I started a claim immediately. You would not believe all the hoops you had to jump through. Then after I jumped through all the hoops PayPal tells me they will try to take the money out of his account. What if he closes his PayPal account or what if his account doesn't have enough money to cover my cost. I thought PayPal would reimburse me sort of like an insurance policy. When I read that I filed a charge back with my credit card company and let PayPal fight for their own recovery at that point.
  16. If you always ride in the same direction and there are more right turns than left and you ride it a lot I would think that maybe that is the reason the right side is more worn. I am assuming you ride that route a lot so try riding the other direction about 50% of the time on your new tires and see if they wear evenly. Just a suggestion.
  17. The length of time waiting for your product should have nothing to do with filing a claim. As I mentioned before if I had used a credit card I would have made a charge back before my 60 days was up. I didn't so I had no 60 day grace period. Troy has made a lot of empty promises to me and a lot of other people. All I'm saying is you can only bend a branch so far before it breaks and the same goes for people. Yes I wanted to get Troy's attention, now I have it. Yes I could continue to hound him for the way he has treated me. I don't think that is in my best interest. Is it in your best interest, maybe. Let me ask you a question. What if you file a claim with your credit card company because you have 60 days ( PayPal only gives you 45 days) and Troy doesn't have the money in his account. I would not be surprised to see he doesn't have it in his account. How will you get your money back then? I can tell you you will not get it back. It cost $175 to file a small claims case then you will have to go there for the pre trial and then go down for the hearing. If I were you I would file a charge back but if he doesn't have the money in his account then there is really nothing you can do. That is why I am working so hard to keep him working on my stuff. I could try to ruin him but then not only will I not get my stuff any other member who has an order with him will not get there stuff either. So it is not only me that would get the shaft but there may be other VentureRider members and other motorcycle club members who might not get there stuff. Like I said before I will keep enough pressure on him to keep from breaking his will. Each person has to do what they think best. This is what I think best. You and others may have your own idea as to the best way to handle the situation. I know Alan said he could knock it out in an hour. He may be able to do that I don't know. I do know a member here contacted me and told me he use to do leatherwork and most people do not know or understand how slow a process it is. He got out of it because people though he could just knock out the work quickly. I have never met the member that shared that information with me but I believe him. I don't know anything about leather craft but I do beleive him and so based on what he tells me I doubt if Troy can pump it out in an hour. However I don't think it takes anywhere near two months to do either. It also doesn't explain why he keeps taking orders when he has not done the ones he already has. Troy should not be advertising on Ebay. First it requires payment in full. Second when you bid on it you think he already has it ready to ship. But you are protected as long as you use a credit card. Any way do what you think best but if he has no money then he has no money. I don't know if he has themoney in his account or not. Good luck. Harry
  18. I can't argue with you about anything you just said. Everything is true. I have never met your dad but from everything I've read he is a great person and I know he was getting tired of waiting on his order. I don't blame you for filing a charge back. If I had of went through Ebay I would have charged back my purchase. Troy has missed several deadlines for me also. I certainly understand why you call him a thief I did the same thing. The important thing is you get your money back. It must be something to do with working with leather. There is a member here I that works with leather and I sent him two or three PM's about doing a job and he never answered any of them. If I get everything I will quit trying to get custom work on for my bike. Good luck to you. Harry
  19. The way that back tire is worn you have a problem but I don't think it is the E3's. I have 14000 on mine and still going strong. Anyone can get a defect but the right side being worn more than the left just isn't right. Do you always ride the Devil's Triangle in one direction? The Michelin Commanders are good tires if you try them or any other high mileage tire recommended here and you still get bad tire mileage then it is definitely something wrong with the motorcycle. The bad part of that is if you do put another set of anything on and you do have a motorcycle problem the problem may be getting worse. I would definitely have the motorcycle checked just for my own satisfaction.
  20. I don't think he has the money and I'm not totally sure he has the material as he says. He may. He may also be just ordering the material as he has to do do a job. I do believe he is down on his luck because a member here has a friend that lives about 4 miles from Troy and told me Troy was moving before Troy told me. Now that does not mean his story is true about having to move. He might just be moving. Who knows. I do know that two months is way to early to expect anything from Troy. It shouldn't be I know. You got caught up in the same problem I got caught up in. Godlover's order took 3 1/2 months to get and someone else's here took about the same length of time. I'm coming up on 10 months. I have two choices, to believe he is down on his luck or not to believe he is down on his luck. I choose to believe he is because if I believe otherwise and then find out he really was done on his luck I would really feel like a heel. Now no one has as much right to be upset with Troy than I do. I have found out that several people put in their orders with Troy months after I did and even though it took 3 1/2 or 4 months to get their order and they got their order before me. So he worked on their order instead of mine. Is that right? NO. Is that good business? NO. Should Troy be telling people yes I will take your order but there is a 6 to 8 month backlog? YES. Should Troy stop working on my order to work on yours because you have a smaller order. No I don't think so. Troy had my order seven months before you placed yours. You only have 60 days for a charge back to your credit card if you used a credit card so I would file that if it applies. If you don't you are up to Troy's discretion on whether he does the job or not. The only thing I can tell you is I don't know of a single instance where Troy did not finish the job. I was beginning to worry about that when he quit communicating. Troy needs to face everyone he has orders for. In my case he is for now. I hate that your order may have to take a back seat to mine but that may be. I do know that one of my options was to try and tie up his founds. If I did that I know I may not get my order because he needs whatever funds coming in that he could to try and keep going. All Troy has to do is put everything in his wife's name and declare bankruptcy. Then start a new company and no one would get their order or their money back. He has not done that and I don't to put so much pressure on him that he has to do that. I (we) put enough pressure on Troy that he saw he could not ignore the problem anymore. He has made my order a priority and I eased up the pressure a bit but he knows I can and will put the pressure on again if I need to. I hope everything works out for you and I know you have been more than patient but from the last three people that had dealings with Troy I think it will take him a couple more months before you have your order. Harry
  21. Oh
  22. Check out the latest in motorcycle safety. It is in another language but with subtitles. I don't think they tested it enough before making this video. http://biertijd.com/mediaplayer/?itemid=21816
  23. You know maybe I'm old school or just plain stupid but I don't think we should have to negotiate our warranty claims. Either it is covered or it's not. If they think it is your fault then they should have to prove it. If they can't prove it then they should fix it. You should not have to fight for your rights. Just my .
