Pure-One PL14612 vs PL14610 & fit?
N3FOL replied to frogmaster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It is amazing to know that our '06 Nissan Murano also use the same filter size ...that is PL14612. -
? about brake pads..........

I agree...anything moving should have the means to stop at a certain point. This thread gives me confidence, when it is time to replace brake pads. -

After 60K miles...on original front brakes...congratulations on that milestone. I guess if it still has lots of pad, why bother replacing. I have not really looked at the rear side...but it probably is easier to replace rear pads if you remove the side bags. -

Awesome! You made your brakes last that long. I notice that the rear brake has lots more stopping power than the front or it just could be my imagination due to the air shocks. Good Luck on the install...I heard that it is not that bad to replace. Ride safe. -
Glad to hear that both you and the wife are fine. If your tire did not loose the traction, I am pretty sure that you made that U turn with no problem. It won't be long...the bike can be fixed and you'll be back on riding soon.

Just curious. How long have your had your brake pads on your bike? How many miles riding? -
After reading this thread, I checked my rear shock pressure and did not have any air in it after over 1K miles of riding. My '07 currently have a little over 1K miles that I bought brand new 2 months ago. I added air on the rear shock and now have 25 psi...I can't wait to give it a ride once the weather improves. So far, no squeeks on the rear shocks yet.

Bob, Where are the Ham Related Threads in this forum? I am interested to check it out.

It really looks like a very nice product. For $12.95 + shipping...that is a good deal.

Bob, Thank you so much for posting that video. I did not ride to work today, for it was drizzling a little this morning. When I get home, the clutch bleeder valve should not be hard to find.
-
I saw that too on eBay. I don't think it is one of Carbon 1's lift. Larry, I think you should put a patent on your product.
-
I was wiping down my Venture tonight, but I looked underneathe the left rear cylinder and did not see the valve. I don't really need to change fluid yet, but just curious where exactly it is. Maybe I did not look good enough.

My previous smaller Vulcan averaged about 46 mpg and I was very happy. I also keep track of my mpg on my '08 Prius and my old '95 Taurus SHO that averages 22 mpg - highway. As long as I stay above 40 mpg on the Venture, I am satisfied.
-
Electrical is your best bet and you won't be looking anywhere else once you have them. I also have Gerbings heated gloves and rode for hundred of miles on my Vulcan. when I got my Venture, I simply transferred the plug harness that is hooked on the battery and that's it. Lately, I didn't have to use my liner and sometimes just my gloves, since the Venture does have a lot of wind protection compared to my old Vulcan.
-
I don't recommend those battery operated gloves for motorcycle riding. I have a pair and are of poor quality. Honestly, I feel like I just wasted my money for getting them from Hammacher...

If I am lucky to get the Venture lift adapter from a fellow member this week, I may take a ride down to Chambersburg, PA. and take advantage of the low gas prices up that way. Regular in our area is $2.49/ gallon. Not bad compared to 6 months ago.
-
Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new ride. Since you don't have a lot of Royal Star bikes out there, do you find it hard to look for a good mechanic that would work on your bike or are you are DIY'er?
-
Very nice mpg, Stroker_Ace! For 2 up on a Venture I think is good. 1,057 mile trip sounds like a fun ride. Did you do that is just one day? I've tried Regular on my Venture one time and perhaps it is just me...wanting some peace of mind. So I just fill up with Premium fuel ever since...$2.69/gallon/Premium currently in our local area:thumbsup2:.

After all that work, don't forget to synch your carbs...it may help a bit. -

I hope you re-consider. This is what fun forum discussions is all about. Hope you did some riding this weekend. -
That does not look good. I am in the impression that your tank has been repaired previously? Good thing you got your tank off and emptied...hope you can get those holes straightened up and covered under warranty.

Do I have the famous "chirp"? Or?
N3FOL replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My Venture sounds like a turbo on acceleration and I love the sound. The more I ride it, the better it runs. However, the noise characteristic as explained earlier is a good thing to keep in mind. IMO, it is just the nature of the Yamaha engine. -

If you are 'in-Gear' with the 'clutch In' and you put your side stand down (assuming that the engine is running) , the engine will cut-out. I do this as part of my safety check. -
Check with 'RichLockyer' (user name) in the Kawasaki Cruiser section. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum. He may have an answer for you.

If the clutch lever is 'pulled in' and you are in gear and you put your sidestand down, I believe the engine will cut out.
