  1. yeah it does sound like it knockin a bit. He also stated that everything on the bike was in perfect working order, but skated quickly over the fact that the class system was showing an e4 error code. At best I would be carefull. good luck either way. David
  2. when you factor in that a greta deal of my ridding is in 90 degree plus weather and add the fact that I've been in the hospital several times for severe dehydation. I'll take the status symbol. I will not let myself dehydrate if I can help it and if it means poutting a drink holer on my bike then so be it, And no I was not offended by the remark just givimg you a plausable if not medical reson for your consideratrion. David
  3. thats kinda what I was thinking. Guess now for the stupid or ignorant question you name it. I just went out there and for fear of tapping on something that shouldnt be tapped on, where are the bowls located on these carbs. I,m not a mechanic so I 'm not sure if I can handle a carb rebuild. David
  4. are you talking about the exhaust collector?? David
  5. Ive develpoed a gas leak. Noticed it today when I was under the bike listening to the collector rattle anf trying to decide what to do with that. The collector can wait. What I discovered was a gas leak at first what looked like it was fluid leaking from the rear shock. Pulled off the right side abs cover and can see the fuel leaking from somewhere above the rear shock and then running down the shock. Cant see where it is coming from though. It only leaks when the motor is running. Not sure if it leaks when the key is on but the engine is not running I will go check and edit the post as soon as I can. Anmy idea where to start or what will be the easiest way to get in there and see . Hopefully I can do this myself as it will have to sit if it needs to go to the shop. mONEY IS TIGHT WRIGHT NOW. aNY IDES WILL BE WELCOMED AND FOLLOWED UP. tHANKS IN ADVANCE, dAVID

  17. yep 4 feet. My axle width is 50 inches center of tire to center of tire . My trailer toungue was originally on 46 from hitch to axle.I meant to only add three feet but my measurements were wrong and ended up with four. I plan on addid and extra cooler rack up front to help with the weight also. Took the trailer down the road today for about 20 miles at back road speed of 45 and pulled perfect. Then took it down the highway at 70 miles per hr and still pulled perfect. NO more tail wagging and it was running empty. The added toungue lenght was in the for of 2 1/2 inch square tubing thick walls so the tongue weight is actually about wright . Davcid
  18. not saying not to use one , but Ive triede and had the same results as you describe even with a decoy. Most of the time its something your doing not something your not. Idsnt it a little early to ratle horns yet.If you rattle around here now you might as well go home. Good luck David
  19. well everybody, I just added about four feet to the length of my trailer I pull behind my 91VR. HAd to add length to stop the thing from tail wagging on me. My question is is there anyone near by that can weld? I would rather pay and meet an memeber instead of taking it to a local welding shop. If there is anyone available and willing I will pay for time and lunch, dinner ect. I'm in Mcleansville NC just east of Greensboro. The trailer is able to be pulled soi can bring it to your shop or place that you desire. Thanks in advance. David

  23. I would like to send out a thanks to those in chat last night. Just to let out the deamons that have been keeping me off the bike helped tremendasly. Came home today actually wanting to ride. I thought about it and you guys were wright ,I was going out tense and dwelling on the past expecting it to happen again. To those of you who dont know what I talking about, I have been reluctant to ride as of lately. Wrecked a bike at highway speed 20 years ago and this is the first time back on since then. It seemed everytime I got on the old girl I couldnt get back off quick enough. The only way I could get comfortable was to force myself to ride for an hr or more. Yesterday refused to ride with the wife . Didn't tell her till she got home that the reason I didn't ride was because I had a bad felling that if I got on my VR I wouldnt come home alive. The old deamon in that wreck is still kicking in. Again many thanks to those who let me talk and to those who read this for letting me air out this prob. It is a large barrier fro me as I really do love this bike . David
  24. much cheaper here...... http://www.cyclemaxohio.com/inc/sdetail/31068 David
  25. Just a question. Being as I am from NC we have been undedr constant highway road construction for as long as I can remember. The wife and I were riding a few days back and a tractor trailer was moving into our lane with us beside it. Now as the next lane over was clear it would usually be no prob, but the road is under renovation and they had just repaved that lane. This leaves a 2-4 inch lip to get over and at 65 mph we only felt comfortable with hard braking instead of trying to cross this hump/lip while running in the same direction as the lip. I've had cars have a hard time with this type of uneven type of road constuction. Guess my question is, how do you folks handle getting over in this type of situation? Is it safe to go over these types of lips/humps at hyway speed? any input is appreciated. David
