  1. Like you, I too have a 2008 RSV and have about 850 miles and have NEVER smelled fuel other than at the fuel pump. Have Dealer FIX SOMETHING.
  2. Same here at 850 miles now I did not reach 55 to 60 MPH until after about 40 miles and yes sir I too have the CHIRP. I think it sounds like "Peepers / Frogs" on a warm summer night driving around the swamps or lowlands. Dealer did "acknowledge" (test drive by mechanic) the Chirp at 600mi service too. I told him I could live with it as long as it does not get louder. FYI: I had the Chirp with OEM Factory Oil and Final Gear Oil. Changed to Rotella 5w-40 SYN and 75w-90 SYN at 600miles and still the same CHIRP not quieter not louder, same noise level 4 me.
  3. Friends do not let Friends use FRAM. BONUS INFO.... OK my story: Dealer calls me at the 600mi Service (I Did Lube and Filter) Dealer did Carb Syn and Idle adjustment. Get this.... guy says what is that yellow filter? I proudly say Purolator "Pure-One"... He then goes into the Yammie Filter Lecture then says he seen lots of Issues with FRAM's and SUPERTECH's from Wally World. Then I see this "NON YAMMIE FILTER" quoted in the tech section on my paperwork. I WAS PISSED when I picked it up I ask for this guy by name, he was off that day... Lucky him. I would like to add my own comment "PUROLATOR PURE-ONE meets and surley EXCEEDS that Yammie Filter".
  4. LOCKTITE mine the first day it hit my garage. I pays to read "KNOWN ISSUES" for RSV. Can not find it right now maybe someone can find that Link and post it here:
  5. Agree you can find em for $ 6.00 each any thing more is a RIP OFF $$$

  10. Look for boots with an extra 2" tread
  11. Paid $22 / gal for SYN at Wally World 3 days ago... price has doubled in last 2 years.
  12. More info and opinions here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27778
  13. YES... Its was a tight fit but nice to know I have that extra 3/4" cleaning my Rotella-T 5w-40 SYN for the next 6,000 But DANG the 3.9 Qt is surely pushing the MAX fill level... has anyone or anybody know of "known issues" running near max? (((I do not think yamaha engineers would set the "max" level so close to a seal or gasket failure, so that is not my worry))) 2 cents please
  14. Thanks now I will not have to get my hands dirty
  15. Interesting I WILL NOW cut 2 open and report back... Rotella-T SYN in Blue-Jug 5w-40 for Cooler Michigan area $22.00 / gal at Wally World... Yes will be replacing rear end gear lube with SYN-80/90 Gear Lube... Lube Splines can I even see them with out removing Tire??? I was going to have dealer do that at my 600mi Service (((The reason for replacing Lube myself is to save $$$ on the 600mi Service))). Thanks K-Squid
  16. Ya need a Yammaha Rhino 700. It was the engine quality that led me to look at Yamaha RSV which I just purchased very happily. The Yamaha Rhino ROCKS for what you described.
  17. Yes Sir, Another rule I have came from the the state of Missouri "Show Me" not to be confused with "Signal Me"
  18. Friends do not make friends drive above their abilities of themselves or their machines. Joking is one thing but peer pressure is wrong and those kind of people don't have many friends to begin with and they usually end up at someones funeral sooner or later. Ride your own Machine at your own pace that makes you comfortable and safe. Nothing bad happened here but I was just reminded of this when it started to happening around my group of friends or so called friends. Ride safe and come home safe to your real friends and family []
  19. I LOVE the Oil Filter Purolator "Pure-One". I have seen the PL14612 mentioned here as the equivalent stock replacement. My question is the PL14610 is 3/4" Longer than the above stock 2.5" thus 3/4" of extra superior filter media. Will it fit? FYI: I climbed under RSV 2008 and measured about 1.25" between existing 2.5" Filter and the Frame. Approaching 600 mi Oil Change will be using Shell Rotellta T-5w40 from here on out. Any additional 2 cents welcome too.
  20. OMG if I have seen this Bike 4 weeks ago I would have bought it in a HEART BEAT 11k w/ 500miles it a GREAT DEAL. Now I'm stuck with my Brand New 2008 RSV Black Cherry for $16,500.00 at 4.75% Home Equity Loan....STILL HAPPY .
  21. Why?
  22. Save your $$$ They do not work. How do I know? The older folks down the road have asked me to move them from one vehicle to another. Since then they hit 3 deer in our area and I and other neighbors have no whistles and I hit one 5 years ago on a ICY winter day. Seen deer nearly 1/8 th mile away but down hill and GLARE ICE I touched no Brakes and blasted horn, let say had venison in freezer that winter.
  23. Well on this one I'm with "Thirdbike" not because he has a cool website name it is because my: YAMAHA 1994 70 HP Outboard YAMAHA 2002 9.9 HP Kicker Outboard YAMAHA 2006 Rhino 660 ALL OF THEM now have the NGK-Iridium because they ALL Start Easier, need little or no Choke and can get them to perform quicker instead of the 2 to 5 to 10 minute warm up times based upon temperature. THIS SPARKPLUG ROCKS and is IMO well worth the $. Since my 2008 RSV has less than 100 miles on it I will not be replacing the stock plug until the Owner Manual dictates and bet your sweet @ss I will be trying the NGK-Iridium. Like Squidley said and I can confirm you WILL NOT GET More HP or MPG's so don't expect more HP or MPG just better PERFORMANCE during Start Up and Warm Up.
  24. Now 45 years old 5' 8" 195lbs with 30inch inseam. The last bike I owned was 197x Suzkawakiyamahonda Enduro in 1980 ran it for about 3 weeks one summer. So 5 weeks ago took the 3 Day Basic Rider Course from MSF rode their 250cc Bike. Kind of like riding a bicycle ya never forget ya just need more practice. Then last week went to Half Day MSF Expierened Riders Course again rode their 250cc. Today picked up my 2008 RSV Black Cherry brand spanking new. I was so scared loading it up on the trailer had nightmares of dropping it right their in the dealer parking lot. Well did get it loaded safely and off to the local high school parking lot to "Get Familiar with the 1300cc and the 800lbs Gorilla!!! I can say I put 40 miles in the High School Parking Lot doing all the stuff I learned by MSF. Then hit the streets of Small Country Town in Northern Michigan for an additional 25 miles. The weight took some getting use too but all in all this Bike was very responsive to my inputs (((Very Happy))). As far as a Chirp or Whine (maybe) I have nothing to compare it too. I will have to get with some expirenced RSV Riders and compare bike noises.
