  1. As for opinions, here is mine. No one asked, I'm giving this freely. The person in the video is an idiot. As for lane splitting, I'm against it. People will abuse it. I'm against the seatbelt law, and helmet law, too, but I wear both. I respect the law. That is not to say that I ALWAYS wear my helmet. I do respect and obey the law (in Texas you may ride without a helmet if you meet certain criteria). If Texas ever does pass a lane spitting law, I hope that more cagers check their mirrors.
  2. I have had three (3) Goldwings, a Honda-matic and a 750 Shadow, two Suzuki's, and now a RSV. As for the trade? No thanks. I really like the looks of the RSV. I'm not one to put down other bikes. I like what I like. There are things that I wish Yamaha would put into the RSV, but for now I will keep my Venture. Besides, it is kinda cool to walk into a parking lot full of Motorcycles and find your bike without much trouble. Not too many RSV, I like that.
  3. I fall into the range where when I was not quite a teen, gas was .25 a gallon and there still was penny candy. I could buy enough candy from bottle deposit's to have a tummy ache.
  4. Amazon has some free music that you can download (just search for music .00 to .01). Now their is a lot of music out there. You may want to limit your selection to country. As an example the song Lonesome by Cory Morrow is free. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Lonesome/dp/B0045NFUFI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1304876950&sr=1-4]Amazon.com: Lonesome: Cory Morrow: MP3 Downloads@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51HsVKoInZL.@@AMEPARAM@@51HsVKoInZL[/ame] As said before, be very careful of any site that has warez in the url, also torrents (as in piratebay and other sites) are being looked into for violation of copyright laws. Best to legally download from Amazon, Walmart, or Itunes as examples. Hope this helps. regards, smalltowntx
  5. I Have a Sirius Sportster5 and love it. I had a Sportster 4 (it Died after two years use). I have an old Motorcycle Mounting Kit Sirius does not make it anymore. No issues. Highly recommend Sirius, btw I called Sirius for my radio got it for $81.17. A buddy of mine did the same thing after I told him about the deal that Sirius was offering. Beats the price at Best Buy or Radio Shack. SKU#SDSP5V1-NONREW This was on 10-13-2010.
  6. I have the some thing. A carry over from my Goldwing riding days.
  7. We have plans to be at SPIBikeRally, should be there on Thursday night. We enjoy SPI, we go every year. Sometimes the rally, other times the sandcastle days, etc. Just enjoy the area.
  8. Here is another take on IE9 http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/internet-explorer-9-beta-review-microsoft-reinvents-the-browser/2430?tag=nl.e539
  9. In 2008, I purchased my 2007 RSV and a month later was in Austin at ROT Rally, came across the folks at Genuine CoolAss. I purchased one and have never looked back. This product is great!!! The have a lifetime warranty, great folks to deal with. I recommend them highly. http://www.genuinecoolass.com/
  10. I have mounted my Sirius Satellite Radio using Ram Mount Clutch Mount (part #Ram-B-346U) I have attached a couple of images (I am not a photographer). I purchased a Sirius motorcycle mounting kit for the convenience of having the antenna, and docking station. I have never used XM but since Sirius and XM are now the same company, I imagine it is just a matter of program selection/price.
  11. Try this site also... http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/laws.asp
  12. I don't have any tats, but have given it some thought. I would like to get a tire tread design on my upper arm. that way I can show it if I want, and not if I don't.
  13. Hey guys where are you getting the HD pipes for $50.00? I have emailed my local HD dealers and they do not have any take offs. I have looked on CraigsList and nothing locally. Any other suggestions?
  14. I received an email tonight that I thought I would pass along the heart of it. This website is to Say Thanks and show Support of our Troops. From the website..."The cooperation and generosity of multiple organizations has made it possible to send the millions of postcard messages submitted through this Web site. Xerox has partnered with Give2TheTroops, the Boys and Girls Clubs, print shops and corporations that have all greatly contributed to the success of Let’s Say Thanks." The site is http://www.letssaythanks.com I have never served in the military but I do support our troops. Our soldiers past and present are the reason that we enjoy the freedoms that so many take for granted. I sent my card. Hope some of you will too. Cheers, smalltowntx
  15. I was at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston, Texas the end of October and talked to the Yahmaha dealer there and he said that Yamaha wouldn't mess with perfection. My dealer in Georgetown, Texas says that he will have to wait and see what Yamaha offers to the dealers at show. I am going to the International Motorcycle show in Dallas on the 15 of November, I'll ask more questions of the folks there.
  16. Thank you. Like I said in my earlier post I only know what I read here (with regard to HD equip working on a RSV). Maybe I should keep looking.

  19. Almost every time I have bought new tires I have been cautioned to be careful on turns and acceleration for the first 50 or so miles. It has to do with the residue left on the tires in the manufacturing process. Generally after 50 or so miles you should be good.
  20. I have been a member for less than a year. I have received some valuable information here, and I have tried to pass on some insight if I feel that the information I have may be useful. I read Don's email and paid my membership fee, without a second thought. $12.00 for membership is more than reasonable. I'm in.
  21. Does it seem odd to any of you that it us Riders that watch these videos, and take note of what the video is saying. You seldom see or hear of drivers of automobiles taking the time to watch a video like this. Just goes to show that we as Riders are the one's that have to watch out for our selves by watching out for everyone else on the road. Nearly twenty years ago, when I first started riding I had a very good friend that helped me get my license by riding my bike to the Driver's License Office for me and driving the Officer around so that I could get my license. After I had passed the test, before he would let me get on my bike as a legally licensed rider he told me he had one piece of advice to give. "Ride this bike like you are invisible, because to everyone out there you are!" That simple advice has helped to keep me safe by constantly watching the other guy, and always looking for the alternative path should I need to take it. Thanks for sharing the video.
  22. I recently purchased and had installed a set of Stebel 139db chrome horns. One of the better purchases I have ever made. They were about $60.00 with the wiring kit from my dealer Central Texas PowerSports in Georgetown, Tx. I am pretty sure you can purchase them cheaper online. I have a pit pass with my dealer so anything I purchase at their parts counter, they install for free. Works out real well for me.
  23. You really put in a lot of work to compile this list. Great Job! Thank you for allowing us to use it.
  24. I had the same trouble with my radio. I have 07 RSV. I have had it since May 08. The dealer (CentralTexas PowerSports, Georgetown, TX) has replaced the radio under warranty within about 3 weeks of purchase. I was still having some problems with moisture in the early mornings, but it cleared up later in the day. I asked them to look at it again three weeks ago. They blew out the connectors with air and applied di-electric grease. All was good til one day I was riding and found a good pot-hole in Waco, TX. I couldn't avoid it, pretty good jar and then the radio started acting up again. exactly the same issue you are having. Sitting still all is fine, start moving and it crackels and pops, static. I removed the fairing and checked the connections. There is a plastic zip-tie around the three conectors. I made sure that the connections were good and tight, and then I loosened the zip-tie and moved it to where it is supporting the three connectors snuggly. Another post has the image, it should be snug, but not too tight. This cured my issue.
