  1. Keep track on how long they last compared to your other tires.. as mentioned before, I got 24,000 miles on my E3's and just put a new set on.. curious to know if you get as much on the MC
  2. I got 24,000 miles on my Elite III tires before changing them out last month.. awesome tire.. Keep the pressures up properly and they'll do you well Just a funny thing about new tires.. Ever notice that when you get new tires installed, the installers will always "warn" you about how slippery the new rubber is for the first 100 km's or so until they get scuffed up? But they never say anything like this to you when you buy a new bike and ride out the shop with it.. Strange huh?
  3. Good looking bike you have there How many miles on the ME880s now? I was quite impressed with them on the VStar.. however, I wanted narrower tires on the Venture to offset it's heaviness, I find the ME880's on the wider side of things.. Not sure for sure as I've never tried them.. Cheers M8
  4. Yeah but white gauges on a green bike is SOOO Faux pas and like, oh so yesterday styles.. makes the bike look a little wide in the hips.. I can see why beige is the preferred colour..
  5. I run ME880's on my VStar and had nothing but excellent results with them.. 36,000 KMS on the rear tire and 42,000 kms out of the front tire before a nail took it out.. I opted for E3's on the RSV only because the rear tire was narrower than the ME880 profile, I think.. Thus far the E3's did me well with 24,000 miles on the rear tire.. the front one was replaced prematurely due to the loose neck bearings cupping the front tire.. So far the new set is wearing in nicely!!
  6. LOL love your tag line "Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window"
  7. Ahh my friend.. the cold crotch syndrome.. equalizes all men.. lol.. I ride with a full sheep skin on the bike, summer and cold weather, it's awesome.. and best yet, though my chaps keep my legs warm, the top of my thighs and ahem, boys tend to get quite cold.. When it gets like that, I pull the sheep skin further up the tank, and pull the top part back over my lap.. keeps the thighs and boys warm.. wind keeps it down.. Full sheep skin around here cost about $120 white and $140 black CDN. Worth every penny..
  8. Would something like this work? http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoCustomPerformance/Gauges/PRD~0340157P/EQUUS%2B2-in.%2BOil%2BPressure%2BGauge%252C%2BAluminum.jsp They have a 3 gauge cluster in the same colour.. Pep Boys has them, Napa.. etc
  9. You mean to tell you which gear you're in, apart from Neutral? Without sounding bad about it, why would you need such a thing? Just curious.. Cheers
  10. So says the man from down "south" lol
  11. Now THAT sounds like the FITCH fuel capsules lol.. drop a few of those in your tank and see what happens.. thanks for the link.. good read
  12. Girlie men.. all of ya!!! Around here where men are men and sheep are nervous, we try to ride year round.. none of that whimpy electricity stuff to keep warm.. A man is manly enough to brace for the cold and forge ahead come hell or high water (ice).. Yessir.. none of that mambe pamby girlie man heating element stuff that keep your hands and chest and feet warm.. while riding in.. the cold.. eh? Wait a tic.. Where do you guys get that stuff.. it's unheard of up here lol Just kidding.. Bundling up nicely for a ride is all I need up here, if I were ever to come off the bike I'd be bouncing for miles before coming to a stop.. Photo is from this past Feb, ice on the lakes, guessing about 35'F mid day.. brrr.. Only the brave and foolhardy ride then lol..
  13. Magnets on gas lines?? Explain how that one was supposed to work? Magnets on oil filters or "mag plug" oil drain plugs, yes, those DO work.. But what was the supposed premise for the gas lines? lol
  14. hahaha well cheaper and SIMPLER than re-wiring the whole bike.. but still means digging them out and installing them for the purpose.. However, good idea.. Cheers
  15. Sounds like we're getting somewhere.. a good winter wiring project.. I have to chase down a short in the highway lamps anyway so this would be a concurrent project.. w00t Gotta get some serious riding in before Bill pays a visit to Nova Scotia on Sunday.. sheesh
  16. Thanks all.. at best I thought all it could do is clean up the power from the battery, akin to what an Un-interuptable Power Supply does for your computer.. But as Condor suggested, on a shyte electrical system it may show some improvement.. on a new system? prolly not.. thanks for your input.. Cheers
  17. Ever see something like this before? Does it actually work or is it more gimmick than anything else? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TUNING-Yamaha-Royal-Star-V-Max-Suzuki-Hayabusa-Intruder_W0QQitemZ140339503929QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item20ace2e339&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
  18. That's the problem with a quiet bike lol.. no one heard him pull away with it.. buddy even left the helmet resting on the seat for the thief.. With all the chaos of the accident scene it was too congested to even see who what and when it was taken.. they did recover the bike a few miles down the road, undamaged.. but no key..
  19. One thing that has always bugged me about this bike is that the 4 way flashers (hazard lights) will only work while the engine is running.. It's obvious so that you not run down the battery but shouldn't you be able to turn the bike off, and still have 4 way flashers alerting others while you're stopped somewhere? One case in point is when I go to the drive through bank teller machine on the bike, they prefer you turn off your vehicle (no idle zone).. but I don't want to sit there vulnerable to the next git on a cell phone or picking his nose.. I would love to be able to have the flashers on while on accessories.. So how long could you possibly run your 4 way flashers on acc before hurting the battery? Could they even be wired in such a fashion to make them available without the engine running? a local lad jumped off his bike to assist a pedestrian accident, left his bike running for the 4 way flashers to work and someone jumped on the bike and made off with it.. go figure eh?
  20. Call me dense but could you explain this in more detail, provide pics? I'd love to give this a try but I'm not following what they are referring to in various guides.. I'm a 'visual' guy, go figure
  21. A size 12 boot to the lid gets any hardbag open lol.. preferably when no key is available..
  22. Next time I'm in Maine to get my shock replaced, I'll mention this to the tech to see if they can do a service test or check to see if it's indeed 100% serviceable or not.. and change it if needed.. better safe than sorry.. Thanks M8
  23. Thanks Boomer, I'm seeing now that I need a lot less than specified in the book, hence why I always have a lot left over lol.. I change my oil that often that it'll keep until the next change. Cheers
  24. Because of the severity of slippage I plan to change the oil 'anyway' to clean out further junk deposits from the old clutch.. I may switch from Yamahlube 10W40 to AMSOIL 20W50 (synthetics).. I can say that I feel a difference in the clutch just by having changed the oil but it still slips huge when coming onto the throttle.. Just babying her until the new clutch arrives next week..
  25. is that a hard job to do? With everything else going weird on this bike, it might be a precaution I should undertake if the task isn't too hazardous.. Cheers
