  1. Tom, I would have him just press the schrader valves and make sure that both are completely empty. Other than that, it is likely that the steering heads still need to be tightened just a little bit. We can check it when he gets to my house. Did he say what days he might be in Oberlin?
  2. Uh...I think that V7Goose would have figured that. Check post 6 in this thread.
  3. Here is a cut and paste from the Edsets site. If you own a Venture or Voyager, and yes, the Harley Ultra, you can simply order the 3G Goldwing Headsets below for each of these bikes. The Harley requires a mic preamp, so we will provide that as part of the package. The HD has a 7-pin system, but the two "extra" pins are not needed or used, so the same 5-Pin cable works on the HD. The new Kawasaki Voyagers will use the same as our HD headset, but a different lower cable pinout, which is not in production till late summer 2010.
  4. hmmmm....I wonder if it has something to do with California emissions?
  5. I recently read that though the Harley is a 7 pin cable, that only 5 of the pins are actually used and that a standard 5 pin headset will work. I have no verified that though. I saw this information on the Edsets website.
  6. I'm one that loves them. I THINK that the reason some people like them and some don't is the placement of the speakers. The speakers are very thin and should be close to the ears. I think that many people put them in the hollowed out part of the helmet when old and thicker speakers were removed. I don't even have mine behind the lining. I have them on the outside of the helmet lining so that they are right next to my ears. They are thin enough that they are still comfortable and they sound fantastic.

    Speaker

There are differences of opinion on this issue. I've tried the Pioneers and the Polks. I still have the Polk speakers installed. I think that they are better than stock but unless your stock speakers are blown, not THAT much better. I decided long ago that we are just not going to get fantastic sound out of these little 4" speakers. I messed with it too long and even tried adding a small amp but nothing really made them sound great. I too liked listening to the stereo through the outside speakers but after buying the Edset headsets, I was finally pleased with the sound through the headsets and gave up on improving the external speaker system.
  9. I agree with Buddy.
  10. I love all the changes that I made but I've said it before and I haven't changed my mind. If I could have made only two changes, they would be: Driver's backrest KuryAkyn highway pegs A lot of the other additions and changes are nice but those two make the difference between me being able to ride 50 miles or 1000 miles.
  11. It's a fair deal. I did a quick search and didn't find them any cheaper. You might spend a lot of time looking and find then a few dollars cheaper but not much.
  12. Fine looking young couple Monty. I hope that they have a long and happy life together.
  13. Pretty darn good pics.
  14. Here are a couple of threads that should help. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15135 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10640
  15. WHAT???? You let him take MY BIKE? We have to TALK! The only problem I had with it was that I needed sunglasses when I rode it because it is so bright.
  16. I would absolutely be checking the repair. You said it worked for about a week after you did it. That would lead me to be highly suspect that the repair failed.
  17. Thanks folks. I will be in Dubois at least for tonight, maybe all week, won't know for sure until I get there. Earl, thanks for the invitation and if I see that I'm going to have the time, I'll get in touch and try to at least stop by for a visit. Ric, I may well show up tonight for Wings. Mel, trade shows never leave me any time for visiting and the company sends somebody from the home office to help out and I always have to take them to dinner and etc. I was staying right downtown. Gave my keys to the valet at the hotel and didn't even see my car again until Saturday.
  18. Yep...took a load of trash to the dump early last Monday morning. Ten foot trailer piled high.
  19. Just go to Jake Wilson and to the Avon Venom page. Then select your bike and model from the drop down menu and it shows you which tires you need. It will list TWO for the back, go with the 80H series. It has a higher load rating.
  20. I too am a fan of the Avons. Now, the ones are my bike are about 2 years old and I haven't gotten to ride much the past two years due to health issues and they probably have less than 6 thousand miles on them. The sidewalls are cracked on the front and rear to the point that I don't trust them for any significant trips. Still, I am so impressed with the way they handle that I ordered another set of Avons earlier this week. I ordered them from Jake Wilson and should be here on Tuesday. I almost went with the E3 but I've heard too many reports that they are a little noisy. Avon claims that they have resolved the cracking issue so we'll see. The fact is though, if I had been able to ride like I used to, I would have worn them out before the cracking issue became a problem.
  21. Seems I've hardly been able to catch my breath since maintenance day. Had just enough time on Sunday evening and Monday morning to sort of get things put away and then had to leave for Indianapolis to set up for a trade show. The show lasted through Saturday at 4:00 and then by the time I got the booth torn down and packed up and made the 5 hour drive home, I got here about 11:30 last night. Now I'm home today but have to leave for a week in the DuBois and State College area of Pennsylvania first thing tomorrow morning. I tell you, I am really tired of the constant travel and would love to find a good job that would allow me to be home every night but in this economy and at my age, that's not likely so "I owe, I owe so off to work I go". Due to the show and etc., haven't been on much since maintenance day but hopefully things will start calming down a bit now. I did manage to get two new tires ordered this week and called Chad at Pioneer to take advantage of the good deal that he is offering on brake pads so they are on the way to me also. I intended to pick them up while he was here but completely forgot about them. Looks like it's going to rain here today so about all I can do is stay in the house and rest. I'm not too disappointed in that.
  22. Here is a link that I found in a search where somebody else here bought them. http://www.aftermarketcyclepartsnation.com/Drag-Specialties-RECTANGULAR-TWIN-MARKER-LIGHTS-detail.htm?productId=7724779&catalogId=&searchProducts=2040-0299
  23. Brad, I'm not sure but I THINK that Rick at Buckeye use to carry those lenses. You might want to check with him.
  24. That's great news Tom. I'm glad to hear that they have arrived safely and we look forward to seeing them also.
  25. DUH...THANK YOU Jeff. I knew it had to be somewhere and that I had seen it before but I absolutely couldn't remember where it was. Now there is NOT the same option for confirmation settings and that is the one that I had to change to checked by default.
