  1. I dont know if you will get the response from your engine that you want. Ive read that some others have tried similar things on the intakes and have usually found that these bike like the stock airbox on them. I know when working on these bikes when the airbox is off, they cough and backfire and really dont run well. I know of a couple of guys that have just drilled holes in the airbox and ended up covering them over when the bike ran terribly as it seems to need the constriction to run right. If ya were to put bigger valves and heads on and improve airlow to the engine, getting rid of the airbox might work better but if ya dont want to spend big bucks, you might hafta leave the airbox as is. I know of 2 or 3 85's that might be too real for him though.......better leave him with the G2's so he can handle the excitement..... Brian
  5. THe Spin on adapter from RIVCO sure makes it easy to change oil,on the G1 bike and Ive wondered about how it changes the filtration qualities in the motor. Brian
  6. I am no expert, but I wouldnt mount that, it would go back to seller. Brian
  7. We dont realize how fast things change until we look back at an old ad. The stuff that has probably changed the most is the computer related stuff, so here are some old ads to enjoy. http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2010/10/15478/ Brian
  8. Ive had my cruise working at speeds above 85 mph. Sask is probably one of the best places in the world to test out your cruise control,....for hours and hours.....lol, at least if you stay on the trans canada highways,.... not a turn for 50 miles at a time... Brian
  9. Some of us that cant ride yet are probably in need of a good laugh, so I thought why not post your favourite tv blooper (PG please). This is one of mine, its an Australian version of Good Morning America..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_fMN9kFm14&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - 'Long, stabby thing'[/ame] Brian

  13. This video is one of the best I have seen as far as showing why mandatory retirement isnt for everyone. THis woman is 88 years old and most of us (probably none of us) could keep up with her. http://www.garynorth.com/public/6791.cfm brian
  14. trolling bike forums, travelling, planning bike runs, throwing apple computers in the recycling bin, watching movies, reading local history. Brian:stirthepot:
  15. Dont get used to the nice weather yet!!!! Yeah, we were probably around 40f on Tuesday too, the roads were actually starting to look pretty good in town , I actually had the bike running for a while. But yesterday we had a full scale blizzard roll through, visibility 0 , this morning I woke up to -20f with a -35f windchill. AARRRGGGHHH! Brian
  16. Ive had passengers that were around 200 lbs that couldnt get on while I was on the bike as they couldnt haul themselves up over the seat, so she just got on first with the bike on the side stand and swung one leg over where I would be sitting and then I got on after. that was putting my 85 wwayyy over capacity with the 2 of us, but the venture still handled everything great, but a wee bit top heavy. I found if I kinda sat down on on right side of the bike, I didnt need to wrestle it as much, let my body weight work for me,(there is an advantage to being about 300lbs), it felt like the bike would kinda settle, then after the bike is upright redistribute myself .....But I needed more air in the shocks.....lots mo air....lol. I have a "preflight" talk I have with every new passenger and have to remind some of my old passengers too, but it goes something like.. you dont get on until I say ok, you dont get off until I say ok (even if we are stopped), dont move at low speeds and stop signs, and dont be afraid to ask questions. I have told most passengers that havnt ridden before to think of themselves as a sack of potatos as the bike leans dont do anything drastic, just do what the sack of potatos would do in that circumstance...seems to help people visulaze and know what to expect. Brian

  19. On a possible thread hijack,....but as a former bar/restaurant operator I couldnt help thinking that you must be one heck of a smart guy having a bar next to a court house. What a perfect spot, people win a case they celebrate, they lose, they need a drink, I love it.... BTW Welcome to the group. Now ya gotta take that new shiny ride on a nice long ride up to Cody Wy this july and meet some of the rest of us, and take some great rides. Brian
