You could try to take the aluminum strips off, straighten them and then see what happens, might surprise you and you have nothing to loose. -
I could suggest Brantford Ontario, it's nice and close to home, the weather is awesome, Pioneer MS is not that far away in case we have problems, Marca is real good at telling me what to do, although we don't have hill country, we got some real nice riding, I'll be fully retired by then so I'll forget all about everything as soon as I'm told,, heck, that happens already so I have good practise. COME TO BRANTFORD!!!

Can you post some pictures? -
First thing to do is to check the slider for any cracks. Sometimes they will crack at the open side where the metal pushes into the plastic, then you need a new one. Other than that, put it all back together the way it should be, gently but firmly seat it all together and you could be good to go. See if it will come apart real easy, and if not it should hold. If it comes apart real easy, look for cracks again with the metal piece in place. If there are still no cracks add a bit of glue to hold things together. Let it dry and insert it into the carb. If it slides easy and freely, good, if it binds even a little bit, you missed seeing a crack, get a new one.

It had to be one of the best rallies I attended. We were looked after hand a foot, we didn't notice any problems, made some more good friends, met some new folks, extended other friendships. Surprising I think for most of us, was the involvement and the giving that was provided by: PIONEER MOTORSPORTS. Never at any time was there any thought put into a request, by the time a feller was finished with a request\question, the answer and result was already in the works. TOM and the NY crew,,, you did fantastically. Terry, Michelle, Chad, Matthew, Michelle's mom,, your participation was all in the background, but certainly made the 4 days a wonderful experience. CAN WE COME AGAIN????

We made it home just fine, the only time we needed our rain gear was in Chaffee area, the rest of the ride was more or less on the dry side, but then we were with Saddlebum and he has a different story,,,as usual.

A separate thread to post any and all pictures to the IR 2012, so that is going to be easy for others to find them. It 'll be in the Watering Hole for now, I will move it in a week or so to it's proper spot.

Yep a well known maneuver. The rule is that you turn into the lane you came out of, but happens maybe only 30% of the time, so we need to be ready for that, if we're not, then we have something to learn.

Sounds real good, even though Squidley said so! Now find all the parts, make it look good, and the ride like you own it. -
I have had a car or two follow me too close, but mostly they seem to follow at a respectable distance. I wonder if it's positional riding that makes a difference. I always, (well unless I forget) ride to block my lane. I try to make sure that the person behind me doesn't even in the slightest get the idea that maybe they could sneak past me. So on a 2 lane road, I ride the left track, totally blocking my lane. If I do get one that seems to want to be towed, I first wave them back and if that don't work I slow down and eventually turn off at my most convenient location. I will never move to the right hand track, and let them envision to be able to pass me on the sly.

In my opinion: the shorter the chains the better, and you might be surprised as to how short the chains can be. What I did was to jack-knife the trailer and then make the chain as short as possible, amazingly, they barely hang. I figure when the chains are short then the drop of the tongue will be the shortest, the pull of a detached trailer will be minimized, and the effect of the tongue getting involved with a rotating rear tire will be less dramatic.

Yep, there's lots of folks who would like to have and\ride a scooter, but don't have it in them to bite the bullet. So this way they can kind of be part of the party.

Well I wasn't going to go to this event until poor Steve was going to go all by himself. I thought: he will for sure get lost, will spend hours on the road waiting to get into Dover, he will forget where he left his bike, and his feet will get sore from all the walking, the paramedics will have to help him out from heat stroke, somebody will lift his wallet, he'll get too close to somebody else's girl, and he'll never make it home in time. So I went along to make sure that the VentureRiders didn't get a bad name,,,,, what moderators won't do for the group, I tell ya. Ray even came along, just in case, and just the sight of him kept that one fella at bay when Steve got soo close to that pretty little thing, and so young as well!!!,,, good work Ray, thanks for being there!!! As it was, I was told to take the lead to enable the other two to ride into town unhindered. It worked, we never stopped for anything, other than stop signs, and rode right to our reserved parking spot. That we did a nice job of parking???? well that's another story. I really think that Ray and Steve were worried for the trouble Steve was going to cause and so parked for a fast getaway. They certainly weren't going to head in the same direction, thank goodness Ray was gone by the time Steve and I got to our bikes. Now seeing as I am the kind of a guy that likes to share everything, I left the location of our bikes in the hands of the one who would know the best,,,, Ray!!, but he stuck it to us,,,, he left early and then I had to depend on Steve to guide the way,, he knew all about that big red brick house, but had no idea where they parked that house, he even tried to recruit some old ladies to help us out,,,, but that didn't work,,,, even when he offered them a chance to wear a pink 'muscle shirt'. I was flabbergasted when just so flippantly he just pulled out that precious gift and wanted to share that so easily, maybe his eyesight is going and he thought those ladies where 50-60 years younger. I kept trying to move him on, tried to remind him that Ray was already gone and that I was little protection for him, but he kept after those ladies, undeterred by the dangers he was creating for us. Lucky this was on a back street and the ladies hadn't thought of needing protection, so we got out of there in time. Steve also ran into another big problem for himself, he wanted to buy a T shirt to prove to his wife that he actually made it to Dover, but he was determined not to pay more than $10 for such an item. We walked, and we walked, and we even wore out poor Ray. We did arrive at a booth and they were selling shirts,, but they wanted $15 for the skimpy ones, that they were pink, was another story. There were only 2 left so they must have sold like hot cakes. Steve was stuck on black and didn't realize what he was passing up here, this was going to be a collectors item, a rare item that everybody was going to want with no more available, so I in my good nature decided that now was the time I would spend a goodly sum and help out a friend, I offered $10 for one of the remaining 2 shirts and they accepted my offer, so Steve now has his very own Friday the 13th shirt,,, a little skimpy maybe and somewhat off color,,,, but then who cares about it being PINK, when it's going to be a COLLECTORS item. Getting back out of town was a breeze, well it would have been nice if there was a breeze, but after about 10 minutes waiting for the cops to short out all the traffic at their appointed intersection, we rode off into the clouds. We even managed to experience a couple of sprinkles but on the whole, It was a great day.

number 2 carb wont sync
Marcarl replied to OrlinEngh's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just to be sure: #2 doesn't sync! You need to sync #1 to #2. Then # 4 to #3 and then #3 to #2. #2 is adjustable only by the idle set screw. #2 is your base to which you set #2 and #3. If you can't adjust #2 with the idle screw, then you have another carb that has it's butterfly closed too far, preventing #2 from closing. Make sure you keep the idle around the 900 mark as you go around. The amount of vacuum drawn at 900 is different than what is drawn @1200, so if you notice that the rpm's change, reset the idle screw. The idle screw is not the sync screw, although the sync screws will change the idle, the idle screw is located on the left side, between the carbs, hidden behind the bracket that holds the carbs together. It's a thumb screw, not a Phillips or slot. -
Ya he knows because he learned so much from this site.
