  1. 2006, just about to hit 90,000 miles. Parts replaced: brake pads, tires, air filters, fuel filter, other stuff broken on impact with a raccoon in 2007 and a deer in 2011. Running great, and running nearly every day.
  2. I've been using the heel shifter for over ten years. I never upshift with the toe any more. I can shift faster with the heel shifter than I ever did with the toe -- even when quickly upshifting two gears at a time. That would probably be different on a bike where the rider sits with his legs curled up under him and the shifter is positioned in contact with the toe, but the RSV is set up for a relaxed feet-in-front posture. It's just a matter of training yourself to use it.
  3. The Cross Country (not the Vision) is a bike that I would really like to have, but doesn't it fall short of the RSV in weather protection, having no lower fairing? Storage space and the extra two speakers can be added with the optional trunk, but what about the lower weather protection? And, as outdated as it is, what would it take to add CB, intercom, headset functionality to the Cross Country, plus Buddy Rich's bluetooth cell phone addition?
  4. Ummm… Apple computers have been based on Intel processors for five years, now.
  5. If you are referring to the spacer block that is used to hold the light bar further away from the fairing, to make fairing front removal easier, I have one. I recently lost my passing light bar to a deer and did not replace it. I just got a stock turn signal set from eBay instead. This means that I my passing lamp bar spacer is no longer being used. If you or anyone else here wants the spacer block, i would appreciate a small sum in addition to the shipping costs - maybe ten or fifteen dollars plus shipping. I don't remember what i originally paid for it, but i would like to defray the cost of repairing my bike after the deer, so hence the ten or fifteen bucks. I also have a pair of H7616 sealed-beam bulbs for the passing lights. They are way brighter than the stock sealed beam bulbs, and shine in a narrow spot pattern. I would like ten or fifteen plus shipping for those as well. Come to think of it, I also have the stock bulbs.
  6. I wish I had a Super Tenere, but not for the same purposes as the RSV.
  7. I took some time off to effect repairs after deer damage. It snowed most of that time anyway. Back on the road now, every day.
  8. The only other bike that interests me is the Victory Cross Country. Its feature set falls short of the RSV in several ways, even with trunk added, but I might be able to make the downward adjustment or find ways to upgrade it for better lower weather protection, CB, etc. That said, I have two over-18 kids in college and an eight year old (maybe in college in nine years). Maybe I could get another bike after the first two are out of college, but right now the RSV is holding up well, if the deer would just stay out of the way!
  9. She doesn't have to make the first move, you know. She's waiting for you.
  10. Shikano, I still have mine somewhere. If you want them, you can have them for the cost of shipping plus put an extra $5 in the plate this Sunday or give it to a good charity. I will have to find them first.
  11. I can never understand why so many people buy a motor vehicle and then want to forget that it has an engine and wheels -- that it is a motor vehicle -- and treat it as cargo on the back of another motor vehicle. JUST RIDE IT!
  12. What do we have to sell? We buy everything from China, except what we buy from South Korea and Japan. Maybe a smidgen from Germany.
  13. All of the best wishes to you, Steve -- may God guide the hands that work on that knee!
  14. Prayer sent that you and family find peace and comfort!
  15. Are yu saying that the solution is for us to move to a big city where radio stations are nearby and for us not to ride away from those big cities Nd away from those radio stations?
  16. I sent an email to Jeff at MarineBeam, asking whether they are addressing the radio interference from these lights. This is his response: Alan, These lamps are not made for use in motorcycles, but they had a big following. Radio interference is caused by proximity of wiring to the radio wiring most likely, as we don't typically have an issue when used on boats. The lamps are being discontinued entirely because of other manufacturing issues. If you wish a refund, you can send back to me with a copy of the receipt we will refund your purchase price. Regards, Jeff Field
  17. I don't know anybody in those games, so they don't interest me. When my kids play baseball or soccer, then I go and watch them. Why should I care about a game full of people who i don't know when i keep hearing about how they are running drugs, raping, running dog fights, etc. etc.? These are not my heroes.
  18. I went ahead and got rid of the TV. We don't have one any more. There really wasn't anything worth watching that we couldnt get on Netflix for cheaper and we could control what came into the house on Netflix.
  19. I ride to work, church, stores every day in Oconee County, South Carolina. My wife has a four-wheeled vehicle. I don't - just the RSV. if there is snow or ice on the roads (only once or twice per year here), then I work from home. Winter temps are in the teens and twenties, with maybe one morning in single digits. Summer days go to the low 100's. Most of these commuting rides are about twenty minutes long. When it's cold, I dress for cold. I also have heated gloves and just bought a heated jacket liner. The heated jacket liner purchase was driven by a recent ride from Florida to home (12 hours). Temps ranged between 23 and 48*F. After that amount of time, cold wind soaks through many layers and the body just gets tired of trying to generate it's own heat. Now I'll probably wear it even on short rides and I will be spoiled.
  20. Has anyone found a way to fix the radio interference from the LED lamps yet? I still have two of the lamps that i put in and then took out again.
  21. My bike has a speedohealer so it reads the correct speed. Given that, I cruise at the speed limit. On a 45mph road, if I am cruising in 5th gear, then a downshift is needed to get good passing speed. At 55 in 5th, passing is okay but not really spirited. At 65 or 70mph, there is no need to downshift to pass.
  22. I have an iPad, and have tried the ForumRunner app. It just doesn't do anything for me. My preference is to come to the main page of the site and see all of the newest posts. I rarely want to look only in specific categories and read each of those -- almost never. ForumRunner does not allow a view of all new posts, or all posts in the last two days or anything like what I want to do. It only displays the categories, and they you have to read into one category at a time. iPad displays the site through its regular web browser quite well, with only a few shortcomings. The site is not really meant to be operated by using a finger to touch a link, so I sometimes touch the the name of a person who wrote a message rather than the message itself, because they are close together and small. I get around that by quickly zooming in to make everything bigger, then touch what I want. Other than that, I am quite satisfied with the site in the iPad's web browser, rather than using ForumRunner. I will be deleting ForumRunner from my iPad now. I do appreciate the effort to accommodate everyone. Maybe there are others who read the site differently than I do, and ForumRunner may be good for them, but not for me. I hope this doesn't seem like a grumpy post. I'm just trying to provide feedback about what Don is trying to do for us, and again, I do appreciate the effort.
  23. That trike is what - ten bucks?
