  1. Hi there Dan and nice hearing from you. Thank you so much for the offer Dan. I am not sure the time frame will allow us to go to Indianapolis but if it will I will surely be in contact and a couch would be apreciated. Lets see how things progress and I will be in touch before coming over. Friendly regards from Jonas and Greta.
  2. That WILL happen Bob - Will bring some Black Death for us And give my best to Becky:bighug:
  3. Would love to meet you Macarl. Only problem is that our schedule is a little loose. Lets bring it up when it gets closer and see if we can plan it somehow. I will be staying in the Alden, NY area for some days.
  4. Hi there Randy. Thanks for your nice and warm welcome. I am afraid that you are a little to far out of my way this time but a trip to Canada is on my list. Your country is beautiful to say the least and I have been wanting to visit Canada for a long time. You can bet that I will take you up on this when the time comes. Hope it will be sooner than later. And you know how to get a hold of me if Iceland ever crosses your mind P.S.: Couches would of cause be an option,,,,,,Ever seen a car called Austin Mini ? Used to have one in my youth and it was a multi purpose vehicle so to speak
  5. Greetings again fellow Venturers ! In 2009 I met a very nice couple at „Freebirds Maintenance Day“ and we started talking. They asked if I was taking the bike back to Iceland and I told them no, but it was getting a little bit to expensive to store it in Woddstock/Bearsville NY at a repair shop (600 US$ + a year ) so I would have to figure out another way. This nice couple then told me that they lived in East Pensylvania about two hours from JFK and that they could possiblie store the bike for me if I wanted. I did write down their name but when I got home from the trip I had lost the note. So,,,I am hoping that they will read this and get in contact with me. It is prettty far fetched but I am hoping that they will stumble upon this. The only description I have is that they were both around 40 to 50 years old and very pleasant. If anybody in the club knows this couple by this detailed (hmmm,,,) description above or have any suggestions then please let me know. Apart from the bike storage I would very much want to get in touch with them again. Friendly regards from Iceland, StarFan Jonas Th. Lilliendahl and Margret S. Bjornsdottir jonaslill@istak.is
  6. Hi there Don you old Canary. Thanks for vouching for me ! You bet your feathers that I am coming by your place since I miss Eileen so much. You will be working right ? Miss you and your family brother - A hug to you and Eileen from me and Greta - See you in June. Jonas and Greta.
  7. Greetings fellow Venturers ! I am sorry to say but I will not be able to attend „Freebirds Maintenance Day“ this year like I planned but the „Icelandic Black Death“ will be served like last two years. Made that promise in 2009 and plan to keep it for as long as I am standing tall. The reason we will not attend is that my wife is not off work untill the 6th. of June and she planned to attend with me. However we have booked tickets for USA and are arriving the 11th. of June in Newark Airport and we are going to spend around 19 days riding and visiting friends. We could say it is kind of a late honeymoon so to speak. We really look forward to this and we have decided not to plan the trip day by day but take it as it comes. The plan is to ride across New York state, Ohio and Pennsylvania and maybe dropping by in Indiana if the time allows. Now what I am going to ask is kind of hard for me but here we go: Is there anybody in the States above that could let us overnight if we are riding through ? We do not need any kind of luxury and we will be bringing our sleeping bags. This would make the trip a little easier on us money vice.We can not plan this by dates since we do not want to put ourselves to the pressure of going point to point on a strict timeplan. Means that we would call ahead (most likely the same day or the day before) and see if anybody is home. If nobody is home or we call at a inconvenient time then we just go to a motell with no problem. Sincerely hope that I am not being to frank or rude asking this, but we are sometimes a little bit to much forward we Icelandairs. Most likely caused by the thin air we breath as well as living on an Island and being able to look up the prime minister in the phonebook and give him a call. :>) There is another request for East New York and East Pennsylvania members in another thread I will write after posting this. I am looking for a very nice couple I met at „Freebirds Maintenance Day“ in 2009 that live in East Pennsylvania. Wrote down their name but lost the note. They offered me to store my bike if needed and I would very much like to get in touch with them. Had planned to take the bike home to Iceland but not having a bike in the States is not an option so I need to get it stored somewhere not to far away from JFK or Newark Airport. Anywhere within about 125 miles would work - but the closer the better. Thanks for reading this and we are looking so much forward to meet as many of you as we can this June. Please feel free to contact us through PM messages in this forum or by email: jonaslill@istak.is Friendly regards from Iceland, Username: StarFan Jonas Th. Lilliendahl and Margret S. Bjornsdottir.
  8. Contrats you two ! Muffinman,,,you are a true hero,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  9. They show up frequently on eBay.
  10. Two 16oz for me Don. One to be sent to Iceland and one to be kept in the US of A. Will pick that one up the coming summer Would the Iceland shipping be possible for an extra postage fee of cause ?
  11. Well, show me THE Harley Dealer that does that ! Do you believe this yourself ? :rotf:
  12. I have Dunlop 404´s white walls on mine and like them very much. Have ridden around 6.000 miles and have a little more than 50% left. They will at least go 10.000 miles. Great handling and I keep them at 36 pounds. The whitewalls are easy to keep clean and still look like new.
  13. Have a look at this site: http://www.gadgetjq.com/trunks.htm Not Tour Deluxe motorcycles but all kinds of trunksetups mainly on Kawasaki cruisers. Should give you a good idea though since these Kawasaki cruisers are quite similiar in size and shape as the RSTD. I myself am looking for a complete trunk and frame from a Venture to put on my Tour Classic 1998. It is a small task really once you have all the parts. Couple of holes to drill and it is bolt on after that.
  14. Bullseye !
  15. Well, you guys think it is a bad year for the Harley Dealers in USA? Get this !!:: I am told that the Harley Dealer in Iceland sold one ( 1 ) new bike so far this year. He survives by selling safety chrome and T-shirts at a ridicilous price. And I´ll tell you,,,,,these Harley owners in Iceland are all competing with each other,,,,having the most chrome, the limited HCSLTXBR Special edition (actually issued with a different letter combination every year) and etc,,,etc,,,. Have to admit it though,,If anyone knows about marketing it is the guy running the marketing department at H.D. USA.
  16. Dear Don. You are one of the most down to earth, brave man I ever came across. I admire your calmness regarding your problem and how you take things as they come. I think most of us can learn something from you. And you have a wonderful supporting wife and family to help you through when clouds gather. But,,,,,you being a stubborn Texas guy I have to order you to take it easy and do as the Doctor (and Eileen of cause) tell you. Do not sneak around peeking at the computer or TV when you are not supposed to and that is a straight order you hear. You and your family are in my prayers and I am sure there are brighter times ahead. The power of prayer can never be underestimated. Keep your faith and behave my friend. Warmest thoughts and hugs to you, Eileen and your family, Jonas
  17. HI Don. Well I am a little stunned here since in my eyes you have the by far most beautiful color combination Yamaha ever came up with for the Sec.Gen Venture so far. I have a 1998 Tour Classic two tone - Emerald green and cream/beige and like that very much for my bike but I have an extra set of fenders and tank and intend to paint that set Candy apple red and Cream/Beige. Intend to have a fainted airbrush paint crack theme in the Candy Apple color. I think that Yamaha came up with a very nice setup regarding the placement of the colors and pinstriping on the fenders and tank and I intend to follow there steps. You can have a look at my profile to see my bikes so you can see how the original colors are divided on the fenders and tank on the earlier Royal Stars. Keep us posted as your work progresses and remember to post pictures. I will do the same when I will start with my bike here in Iceland but that will be a year from now at least the warden tells me. friendly regards from Iceland,
  18. I just put a bottle of "Icelandic Black Death" in the tank when I store the bike for winter. That is the only use I have been able to find for this ugly tasting alcohol apart from serving the members of Venturerider.org a shot or two at Freebirds Maintenance Day,,,,,,,,At least I would never drink that S##T ,,,,,,,
  19. I once made the fatal mistake of saying to Earl on the phone: Give Jean a big kiss from me! and the phone went silent. Actually have not heard from him since then,,,,,,,that was about seven months ago,,,,,,,Man,,,,,, you must not be looking for a continuing contact with Earl,,,,,,,,, :hihi:
  20. Talked to Earl Saturday night. He is back home from the hospital and is laying flat on his stomach unable to do anything for now. Following doctors and Jeans orders. His witty humor is there so I think he is going to be fine. He disobeyed Jeans order and answered the phone since she had walked out of the house so I am not sure about his condition at the moment Lets continue praying for him and he will be fine.
  21. Well "Little sister". I am quite sure you can handle a ´97 Royal Star. I am rather a small guy but sometimes I think that I would like a bigger and heavier bike. The amazing thing about this bike is that even though it looks like and actually is a big heavy bike it is surprisingly easy to handle. It was my second bike and the bike I had before was a Yamaha Virago 1100 - one of the easiest 1100cc bikes ever made in my eyes. I was a little doubtful if I could handle such a big bike as the Royal Star when I got it but to my surprise it was very easy. Of cause one has to show a little respect to the weight and power but once you get to know this bike you will realise that it handles like a dream and it can be leaned very far to the sides without any fear of tipping over, given you have the right speed and throttle technique. Just ask Lynn "Pegscraper" - his user name tells it all. The seat hight is very low and comfortable and therefore it has a low center of gravity. Wish you all the best with your bike - just ride it without any hesitation and you will love this bike.
  22. Never underestimate the forces of mother nature. I have seen a parked car, transmission in park and with the handbreak on been blown over by wind here in Iceland and we do not have hurricanes or tornados. Just strong wind from time to time. Wind can get ridicilously strong an unpredictable in semi enclosed areas and an under roof open parking lot can even make things worse. Can wind blow bike over? - The answer to that is: YES !
  23. Correct ! The XVZ13A is the standard type.
  24. They have the same item number at Yamaha 5EJ-21610-00-P1 and look pretty much the same. See picture below. Note though that the Venture might have some additional holes since it has this rack that holds up the trunk as well as different brackets for the seats. The rack actually bolts to the steelbar/steel liner that is bolted to the fender and I suspect that it might have some additional holes/bolts due to the weight of the trunk. Still the picture shows no aditional holes and no difference in brackets for the seat. So I think there is a good change that this will fit. Have a look at the picture attached. The lower fender is the Tour Deluxe and the upper a Venture. Both from a 2007 model. Maybe that will tell you something. The best thing to do is to have a look at a Venture and a Tour DeLux side by side and compare.
  25. Don´t worry. We will be around to guide you if you need some advice. Just don´t try to rip that Air filter out unless you have gotten the top/lid off and away from the airfilter case. That filter is not going anywhere unless you remove the top,,,,,,and that is where the screw placed at the front plays the head role ! Enjoy and try not to get overexited,,,,,,maybe a good idea to keep a bag around if you should hyperventilate
