The problem has been found.........Bad coil! The Dealer is going to replace the coil, slap in 4 new plugs, and re-synch the carbs.....and just for fun he is putting in a new ignition module. All at no cost to me of course. Regards........Boomer ps: A tip of the hat to you Redneck! You nailed it right. -
I donated less than an hour ago. The amount donated is not comparable to the knowledge/experience I have gained since finding this Site. Pony up folks and pay the piper.....Losing this Site is not a good option IMHO. Regards.........Boomer

The guy is 67 years old.....I guess the twisties don't do anything for him..... without a healthy dose of Viagra?

That is a good tip for those who are unaccustomed to running with floorboards. The most important part tho is the PRACTICE! I wonder just how many Riders actually spend any time practicing low speed manuevers or emergency stopping....... Do we have any College folks who would get a Government grant and do a survey on this?

A friend of mine has been running a CT on his Wing for the past 4 years. Other than having to go easy in the twisties he swears it is the best mod he ever did to that bike. I'll stick with MC's despite that thank you.........

For the tech info and experience that is shared at this Site I would gladly pay a fee in whatever manner or amount you specify Don. Quarterly or Annual payments or whatever.....set it up any way you like. Regards.........Boomer

7036.16 in reply to 7036.10 Dropped the bike off at the Dealer last night. Despite all efforts my buddy and I could not resolve the plug gas-fouling problem. Now I'm playing the waiting game for the Dealer to find/fix the problem. As soon as all is done I will post the results here for the benefit of all. Neither the Dealer or the Service Tech's seemed to think this problem was a big deal so I'm guessing that the problem is an easy fix. The Dealer even told me that if he had to he would drop a brand new engine in the bike if push came to shove. There is one older Tech working there now and he seems to know his stuff so we shall see. Man it really frosts my cookies to have all this great weather and the Beast is sitting in the Shop. I am seriously considering adding a 2nd bike to the family because of this situation.....and if I can find Momma's cookie jar you can bet your ass I'll be buying....LOL! Regards all.........Boomer -
I have been having problems with my 06 Midnight Venture. Specifically one of the cyclinders ie; As I sit on the bike it is the rear cylinder on my LEFT. First it was gas-fouling plugs on this cylinder....Ran 3 cans of SeaFoam through 2 tanks of gas and the carb-float problem seems to be gone now. NOW....Today I went for a spin that was roughly 100 miles at speeds from 50-70mph. When I got home I checked all the exhaust headers as they come out of the cylinders. The header coming from that LEFT REAR CYLINDER was warm to the touch whereas the others were very HOT. Performance-wise the bike was fairly decent but I did notice a slight popping and at times it seemed sluggish on the throttle with small periods of hesitancy when I rolled on the throttle...... and even tried holding the throttle steady at 50mph in 3rd gear. Any ideas as to what I should do from this point? I'm thinking about re-synching the carbs....... and doing it step-by-step as provided by Freebird here in the Tech Section. Also putting in 4 new plugs as well with the synch job. Note: Sorry for such a long post but I want to get as much info out in order to help you guys with the trouble-shooting advice. Regards............Boomer

JB Weld is excellent for plastic repair. Once is has cured you can sand it down to the point where you can't even see where you applied it. As for painting...I will leave that to the Pro's. Regards.....Boomer

I am running stock NGK plugs in my 06 Venture. Would performance improve with a different brand of plug? How about plugs that run hotter? Comments and suggestions welcomed! Regards...........Boomer

I don't know you folks but I am glad to hear that the injuries were not more serious! Follow the Doc's orders;heal fast;and don't sign any Medical releases presented to you by the womans Insurance Company! If your lawyer is good enough you should be able to buy a new Venture for each day of the week....and then some!

I have been very lucky so far.....3 times down and all in grass so far. This bike must think its a lawnmower............

I have owned many different bikes over the years. None of them has given me the riding pleasure that my Venture does. Yes she can be unforgiving if you disrespect her, but what bike is not that way? My wife does not ride but she certainly rules the roost at home and I'm comfortable with that. I could not tolerate a woman who was completely dependent upon me to make all the decisions. Independence is a great thing....especially when you are solo on the bike and not driving Miss Daisy.

Former LEO here. Gave it up to finish a great military career.....and get my Pension going 30 days after my military retirement date. Made my share of "Felony Dumbass" and "Being Stupid in Public" collars too......and I am still very close to my Brothers in Blue.

Thanks for the tip Brian. If the SeaFoam does not resolve the "sticky float" problem then I will take the scoot to the Dealer for Warranty work to correct the problem. Shoot me a PM and I'll tell ya how to find me. I'll bet you have driven past my house more times than you realize! LOL! Regards..........Boomer

Update.....So far I have run 1 full tank of gas with use of 1 1/2 cans of Seafoam. I am down to 1/2 tank of gas and I just added the last half of a can of Seafoam. Drove around for 5 hours today at speeds from 40mph all the way to 75mph. No fouled plug as I type this. Bike is running a LOT smoother and is more responsive to the throttle too. Tomorrow I will run out remaining gas/Seafoam and do a full fill-up with high test gas and see what happens. If the plug does not foul I'll be one happy camper.....and I'll continue adding Seafoam in moderation for the rest of the riding season. Regards to all..........Boomer

ROFL!!!...........OK.....WallyMart had no Seafoam.Advance Auto did. Normally $8 a can but the Manager is a Patriot Guard Rider soooooo.......I got 4 cans for nothing. The bike has roughly half a tank of gas so I put 1/2 can of Seafoam right in. Ran her hard all the way home for a distance of about 15 miles. Tomorrow I will run her hard again and try to burn off the remaining gas in the tank. When I re-fill the tank it will get a whole can of Seafoam just for good measure. I'll be monitoring the plug performance. Carrying extra new plugs with me just in case. Regards....and thanks for the advice guys!.........Boomer

When I put the bike up for the Winter I then fire up the jacuzzi/hot tub for the Winter. Sitting and having hot water shooting up yer butt is not the same as a good ride.....but the Jim Beam helps.
