  1. Hey guys, My wife and I are going to Nova Scotia this August with some other couples on our bikes. How is the weather in August and is there any advantage to going earlier in the month. We're trying to pack as light as possible. Thanks in advance, Eddie Flinchum

    vacation

My wife and I are riding down the Skyline and Blue Ridge again this year. We'll be going during the Memorial Day weekend. Eddie
  3. Hope you and your's have a very merry Christmas and and Great New Year. Eddie:bighug:
  4. I've had my waterproof street pilot for 4-5 years and it's still a great unit. It's waterproof and will take a lot of punishment. I'd get either the streetpilot or the zumo and it will transfer between bike and other vehicles in about 30 seconds. One more thing, I'd stay away from in refurbished units. I had terrible luck with that. Eddie:cool10:
  5. I'd be very interested in the same thing since I'm also vertically challenged. Also, my upper back and elbows seem to bother me because my arms are always stretched out as far as they can go. I'm wondering if risers wouldn't be the cure and where would you get them? Eddie
  6. My wife has a 94 750 cc Virago with 26,000 miles on it and it runs great. I wouldn't be a bit afraid of it!!! Eddie:cool10:
  7. These are great and will keep you toasty warm no matter where you ride. I rode in this AM and it was 30 degrees and I didn't feel any cold at all. If it gets above 60, it's too warm for this outfit. I also have a rainproof Tourmaster Jacket that has a zip in liner for warmth and it's very nice with armour in it. It's not quite as warm as the other jacket but it is armoured. Eddie Flinchum:322:
  8. I had a similar problem on 2 different wings and both times it was a valve stem. Very aggravating, though. Now I change the valve stem just about every tire change, if I think about it. Eddie

    U.S. Map

I've noticed a lot of you have a map of the states on your messages and have colored in the states you've travelled in. I really like it and was wondering how you got it on your thread??? Eddie Flinchum--computer challenged
  10. My terrier decided to destroy my owners manual today while I was at work. Is there a good place I can go to download another or do I have to buy one from the local stealer??? Eddie Flinchum
  11. I had an 02 Ultra, low miles and in great shape and I didn't like it at all. Our Harley dealer offered me $4200 dollars less trade-in that the local yamaha dealer so that's how I got the RSV and boy am I glad I did. The Harley dealers don't even like their own bikes around here!!! Eddie--Central KY.
  12. Thanks guys, Eddie

    GPS

    Thanks for the info. Eddie
  14. Hey folks, My 4 year old 2610 is very sick and dying. I need to replace it and I'd really like to find a new 2610 still in the box. I don't need anything fancy and besides I have the mounts and hard wired on both bikes for the 2610. I'd appreciate any and all help. I don't want a refurbished one because I don't trust them at all. Been there and done that!! Thanks a bunch, Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.

    GPS

Hey guys and gals, I've been using a GPS for years and had several and now using my Garmin 2610. My son and his wife want a GPS for Christmas so what is a good one for around $400.00. Also, I've always bought my various units from GPSnow, is there better prices out there. Thanks, Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.
  16. Congrats!! I've had mine for 7 weesk as of today and I've already got 5200 miles on her and she's running great. I believe it smoothes out the road better than any of the Goldwings I had and I've had several and put a lot of miles on each of them. The goldwings have the power and are great bikes but I have had more compliments on this bike than any bike I've owned except my old standby the 97 red/white Valkyrie. Eddie Flinchum:322:
  17. I change my rear end oil while it's sitting on it's side with just a small drain pan under the hub. It's just a small amount of oil and put bolt back and refill with just a normal small oil can. I don't have to remove the bag and it takes no more than 5 min. Eddie:322:
  18. Hey guys, I need more light on the back of the Venture. Do they make a spoiler with a light on it and how hard is it to install. I'd like to stiffen-up that flimsy trunk lid while I'm at it. I love the bike, it just doesn't put out enough light for safety's sake. Eddie
  19. I don't know about most places but there was a wreck on I-64 just east of Mt. Sterling, Ky. last Friday that took the lives of 1 of 3 couples riding their Ultra's on a multi state tour from Oklahoma. It was raining and they stopped to put rain gear on and a pick up hit at least 2 of the couples bikes and 1 couple must've been too close and got killed. Another couple was injured and the 3rd couple was spared. Eddie Flinchum
  20. I had a 2002 wing I bought new and it was an awsome bike for 70,000 miles, pretty much trouble free. I now have a 2007 RSV and I really like it. The wing is much peppier and I found it to handle great, especially in the twisties. My only complaint with the wing is the seating position for the driver is kinda tough on the "boys" after a few miles. Also, I like the sportier cruiser look of the RSV. You won't find a better bike than the wing and I will probably go back to it in a couple years when i retire and have it triked. Eddie:)
  21. I got my 2007 Blue/Raven 6 weeks ago today and it has 4200 fun filled miles on it already. I plan on riding it year round like my other bikes in the past. I would think you could get a good deal right now. Eddie:cool10:
  22. I have a good friend that has the voyage on his valkyrie and loves it. His knees are very bad and he's getting the knees replaced this winter. Also, there's some folks that just aren't comfortable on 2 wheels but love the wind in their hair. I can see a regular trike in my future at some point. Eddie:stickinouttounge:
