"What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers? Mechanical engineers build weapons. Civil engineers build targets." I thought this was very appropriate for our family. Matt the Mech. Eng. works at General Dynamics (armoured personnel carriers) and his wife Val the Civil Eng. works for the MTO (Hwy. Bridges etc.)

I suggest that you buy a piece of rubber backed carpet or a cheap tarp to park it on. Especially if the pole barn has a dirt floor but even if it is concrete it will help to keep the dampness off the bike if the building is not heated.

Patti, look at Gerbings http://gerbing.com/ for great heated clothing. I can ride down into the 40's with just a Tshirt and my heated jacket and riding jacket on top. Don't have to dress up like the Michelin Tire Man.

Beautiful. Again Congratulations. I know you've been looking for a while. Friends of ours have the almost identical coach and just sold their 24 foot stacker trailer. That would have been perfect for you. Matching paint and all. Where are you headed for the winter? Come and see us in Texas Hill Country?

I thought you could ride all year round in Tennessee?? Still riding way up north here in Canada.

WOW GENE! Go big or stay home eh? I'm jealous. Congratulations it looks beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it in person. How about some details. Make, model, how many HP?

Trunk Latch Bracket Revisited (fixed)
Gary N. replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here's an article I came across about welding ABS plastic with something called MEK. http://www.popupexplorer.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=595db2805134abd1fcb2d1236dfb9da0&topic=73807.msg108317#msg108317 I haven't tried to find this stuff but I saved the article just in case. -
Sounds nice Kent. Good luck with the move and don't be surprised if you see the "space shuttle" in your yard one day.

Best wishes to you Larry and Joyce. Get well soon.

Shock was empty but no leak?
Gary N. replied to CantWin1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I presume you have put oil into the air valve. This won't replace the oil that was lost in the shock as it is a sealed unit. All you did was add some oil into the air bladder. Some guys have done this in the past to help rid the bike of the grown or squeak that the shock sometimes gets. All the air bladder is for is to add stiffness for extra load carrying. The oil in the shock is to help control rebound so you don't get a bouncy ride. If you have indeed lost the shock oil you would see a mess under the bike. -

I thinks you'll find that you have a "Ford Chassis", not a "Ford Workhorse Chassis". Workhorse bought the old General Motors chassis division and used the GM big block engines. They have since sold out to International Trucks and there are no more GM big blocks.

I have some good used tires that I would like to give away to someone who could use them. They are all about 50% or better. Best if you could pick them up as shipping could get expensive especially if crossing the border. 1 Avon front black wall 1 Avon rear white wall 1 Dunlop rear white wall

Can't say whether it's a good deal or not as I've been out of touch with that market. The Roady is a great bike though. A lot different from the Venture but if that's the style your after, you can't go wrong. Here's a good forum to learn about the Road Star. http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/main.asp?webtag=1602&nav=start&prettyurl=%2F1602%2Fstart&gid=155567289

I have a the IMC helmet-less headset and don't like it. I use it with my half helmet and after an hour I have to take it off because it hurts my ears. I've never ridden without a helmet so I can't say how that would be. Having said all of that, the sound quality is fantastic compared to the J&M in my 3/4 helmet. BUT! the mic pics up everything. So with a mic mute or 0 intercom volume you'd be ok.

I drove it south to Durango with the motor home after the rally in '07. Piece of cake...LOL. It would be a lot more fun on the bike though. If you can work it in, the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge railroad is well worth the time. You can take a bus one way and the train the other if you want too.
