  1. I checked the other day and Wally here in S.A. has about 6 set of the lights. If ya can't find them up there, I can get a set and send them. JB
  2. I tried the Burners and liked them. They are a 55watt MR16 bulb. The pattern is 24 degree spot. I put in a set of 12 degree spots and didn't like them. You can go to Lowes and Home Depot and find the 20 and 35 watt versions. Make sure to get the ones with the lens on the front and 12 VDC. I put a #4 stainless steel screw in the bezel to make sure that they don't untwist. JB
  3. I believe the vac/boost would be a different value depending on where it was measured in relationship to the butterflies. Others will chime in and tell you where to relocate the boost. I think using the later boost sensor and hooking it to one of the balance ports might do the trick. JB
  4. How about the special glasses for seeing the invisible messages' JB
  5. I have the answer!!! Sell the bike to me and I will worry about all the electrical problems. Then you can take the money and go find a nice running Venture. I would hate to think of all the riding you might miss if I did not offer this great sacrifice on my part. Just kidding- you'll get it sooner ot later. It took me a while to get used to my 86 and understand her quirks. JB
  6. I appreciate you looking out for my wallet. Don't know how much I might spend otherwise:mo money::mo money: JB
  7. Dang- give my wallet a rest will ya. Anyway I'm in for a set. It will go well with the clutch replacement etc. Let me know how this progresses and where the money needs to end up. JB
  8. Hey friend, how is the bike doing?

  9. Dang!!! That thing would knock a rider off at anything over 30mph! Save that thing for posterity. Could you imagine the size of the splat on the windshield. Might even crack an acrylic shield. JB
  10. I just ordered the PCW kit and the new fiber discs. I also ordered all new stuff to rebuild the clutch master and slave cylinders. So, I will do the picture routine and report my findings on a first generation. I thought hard about Barnett vs. PCW and talked to John at PCW about the design. If I don't like it, I wil yank it out and get a Barnett. Buckeye Powersports recommends the Barnett. Without going into it in a post, there are 2 different thought processes here. JB
  11. Folks, I have been behind the old fart and he can make a big old tour bike waltz! I would love to see him run Vogel, the Dragon etc. with his smoke in the corner of his mouth and his pegs singin' on the asphalt. JB
  12. Got a set for 1986 and up? I don't know if I will even like them but I would like to find a set reasonable enogh to try them. The last set on e-bay went in excess of $400.00 JB
  13. Along with my gratitude for your work, I too feel that we should give to help defray the costs when we can. It has been a few months since I hit that donation button. Thanks for reminding me Tom. I gave $5.00 for the drop I had at the gas station last month and an extra $20.00 just to help out. JB
  14. I thing you send a friend "request" and then the other party responds yes or no. If it works like MySpace then your "friends" have access to pictures etc. in your profile that the general public does not. By the way, Julia graduates on June 4th. Please PM your address to me. She wants to send you an announcement. JB
  15. Well, I left those alone just for you Giga. I see that one side went for just under $200 and the other side for under $150. The winning bids on each were 2 different bidders!!!!! How would you like to tell your better half that you won 1/2 of a set of floor boards on e-Bay! Unless they each only needed 1 side of course. Thinking that there may be a trade or re-listing here soon. Guess I will put my feet on my pegs and go run some twisties. Maybe if I'm a good boy I will get a set of those switchblade highway pegs and offset mounts by Christmas. JB
  16. There are aftermarket front and rear rotors out there for our bikes. I checked on them earlier this year. Also, a good used one from e-Bay is not bad. I believe that the rotors are about $100-$120 each. Good luck and don't give up. JB
  17. No big thing if you need bucks. Also no problem if you need site help. I can offer both. Heck, I have a spare server case and board if you want a starter kit! Dual Xeon P4 and holds more ram than a Dodge 1 ton. Got a couple drives and a SCSI raid server with the new style cables. Also have all the software for the raid board. I'm sure any other odds and ends can be scrounged up. As to the bandwith, I think we could all cough up enough to buy a decent connection. JB PS - do you think a Tandy 1000 and a 2400 baud modem would be enough?
  18. Can't tell who is bidding against me but I am done. The right and left sides are in separate auctions! Last thing I want is only one side by a fluke. Right side is Item number: 200220312270 Left side is Item number: 200220307891 Time left is just under 4 hrs. and just over 4 hrs.
  19. When you replace a bulb with an LED you need to pay attention to the direction of the LED. Some are set to shine from the side and some from the top. I tried the a set that were set to shine through the top (end). They would not work correctly in the trunk light bar on my 1st gen. The sideways ones shown in an earlier post would work in the trunk. JB
  20. As to the 2008 lighting problem, the light bar from Custom Dynamics does not wash out in the daylight. Kbay has one on kid bike under the trunk. I followed him and was suprised to see the intensity. Many here have used the same bar with good results. JB
  21. Yes Dodge has brought back the Challenger nameplate. It has a 6.1 litre hemi and an autostick 5 speed. JB
  22. Looks like I can clear this one. However, I think that I will need to donate to the cause. I don't think even a Gen 1 with hyperboost can bring hot food. (Can I strap sausages to my pipes? ) Let me know what you want. JB
  23. I will sit down and detail my bar light this weekend. THe LEDs are off of ebay but I think I can find a better source. The resistors are built into the LED strips. I haven't thought of doing this as a service but I suppose I could. I enjoy the work. However, I think that I should offer the directions gratis in the spirit of this site. Maybe I could do one for the cost of parts and create a video showing the steps. The other aspect is getting the bar off the trunk. I did mine in place. I think the buggers are glued on!! Or at least mine appears that way. Any thoughts from the rest of you gladly welcomed. JB
  24. The power draw with the LEDs is actually less than the old 194 bulbs. It is a bit intimidating to pull the lenses apart. The biggest thing I can say here is to use an adjustable heat gun. Mine has a variable temp setting beyond low and high. Also as you heat and pull never stop moving the gun. Otherwise you will scorch the lens. Finally work from both ends towards the middle. Otherwise the stress on the lens as you pull may cause enough stress in the middle to crack. Patience is the key. The cleaning and wiring is just tedious. Alot of soldering and thinking. JB
  25. Finally getting around to the pictures of Mocha's new rear! I used a heat gun and carefully softened the hot glue and pulled the lenses off. Then I ground down all the protruding plastic and filled in all hols and painted. That left a flat surface to mount the LED strips. There are 60 for the running lights, 24 for the brakes, and 9 in each turn signal. Ponch followed me in bright sunlight and reported that the red section washes out but the turn signals show up good. As soon as I get out of the noonday sun it is different. I used self adhesive surface mount LED strips then overglued with clear RTV. I figured the Texas heat might loosen the adhesive eventually. Then I used the clear RTV to put the lenses back on. I think the effect is pretty good. Also, I found out that I had lights behind the lower Yamaha reflector!! Garbage scotch-locks that needed replacing. And the side reflectors have a bulb in the forward edge!! I don't think the sides are stock because of the scotch-locks. The lower might be stock. It took me about 8-10 hours of work and $100.00 worth of LEDs to do this project. The result is priceless if someone notices the bike and I don't get slammed from behind. JB
