Ok- Just checking. I was digging through a box of assorted that I bought for the bolts and nuts. The bracket and box were in the bottom. Also the rear bracket at the top of the gas tank. JB

I was reading a post about someone needing a battery support bar. I have a good one that needs only a bit of paint. I also have a spare box. JB

Engine on Ebay
lonestarmedic replied to Freebird's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well - I let this one go by. Maybe the seller will put it out again. I agree it would be kinda fun to start a crate and pass it around. I am slowly truing to corner all the boxes of hardware that go for cheap. Why don't we start a needs list? As we all watch e-bay and other places we could possibly do some good for each other. JB -

Freebird- The seller lists a crate with the motor. I figure if I get it cheap enough we can send it from Ohio to Texas via relay. In about a year, it might get here. Or, Maggie says I might get a crate with 1 cyl. head, a pile of bolts, and a bunch of greasy I.O.U.'s:rotf: -

Freebird, I will throw a bid on the motor tomorrow night at the last minute. If it works, I would like you to fetch and store. Eventually we can get it to Texas. Or, we can pick the carcass for parts. I would make it into a donor or loaner type deal. JB -
I want the 2 piece cat! Front of body for one side of fender and rear half for the other. The one I saw had x's for eyes. Kinda like a cartoon character. Other choice would be a gargoyle on the trunk. No stuffed critters were harmed in the creation of this picture JB

You can keep the storms!! Saturday afternoon was windy, cold, and rainy. However I still put Mocha in the driveway and flushed the oil off. Used aome stuff from the Yamaha shop. Smells like pink bubblegum. Cost $13.50 for the gallon. Cut it in half with water and sprayed it on. Then cut it again for the rest of the bike. Works great and rinsed clean. Cheated and used the leaf blower for the water. The JB Weld and fiberglass cloth worked great. I sanded. drilled and filed new tabs for several of the lower fairing pieces. THanks for the tip Todd. So, I put the tags on, changed oil, filter, and seafoamed the fuel. Took off and proceeded to run 1 1/2 tanks of fuel through today. Come out to 366 miles. Went to Austin on the interstate, over to Canyon Lake, went and met JRichard, then went to Perdenales State park. Met some Valkyrie riders and rode with a few Harleys. Mocha is running top notch. After the SeaFoam and Marvel mystery oil in the crankcase the idle went from 950 to 1100. Gonna change plugs and put in synthetic this week. Bought a set of Morgan carbtune II's just to finish it off. Looking forward to next weekend and more hill country. Oh for the northern folks, my thermometer registered 78 in the back yard today. JRichard-you missed a great ride!!! JB

Give a yell if you need help. I am in the NE corner of San Antonio. I love tinkering on bikes almost as much as riding!!!

OK Todd, I am playing hooky from work tomorrow. I will take pics of all the odds and ends I have been doing to Mocha. Nothing earthshaking but I like the end results. Oh, J and B Weld and fiberglass cloth work great as a backer!! Reinforces fairing corners and other places. I also used the Putty to create 2 screw tabs. JB

12 foot is a bit long but you can curl the extra under the seat and zip tie it to the frame. Just be careful not to coil it. In some cases the coil can create a magnetic field that corrupts the signal. I always make mine in a figure 8 and zip tie the middle. Yes it is better to remove the splitter and separate the signals. After I finished the conversion I liked the look better than the original. JB

I recently installed a 3ft. wilson antenna and mounts. The antenna is a thin version just like the firestick. I kept all of the part numbers. It came out great. I did split the CB and the radio. I put a small amplified antenna in the fairing. Believe it or not, the AM/FM antenna came from Advance Auto Parts. The other items came from the local truck stop. I can take pics tomorrow and supply a part number list. I have to check the match and tune the antenna. It tunes at the tip with a small end that adjusts with an allen wrench. JB

As I was working on Mocha last night I came across a couple of leak points. It seems that the right front spark plug wire was mis-routed. It was laying against the radiator fan in such a way that the fan wore through the loom, casing, and into the wire!!!!! This caused all the magic zappy stuff to occasionally leak out! I was putting new wires on anyway so I just had to get a new piece of loom. The front shocks have leaked several times. Seems that the hose between the legs was spliced. The splice fell apart causing all the puffy air stuff to leak out! Installed a good used hose (and correct fittings) now the air stays inside the shocks. The best news is that all of this only cost me about $7.00. The loom came from a set of coils and wires I got off E-bay for about $4.00. The hose and fittings were gotten the same way. Also bought 12 lbs. of hardware and found all the little screws and chrome bolt caps I needed. Got the plug wires from E-bay also. Waiting on valve cover grommets and I should be on the road. Fixing plastic items tonight. Pics attached of the wire and hose. Notice that the hose has 2 ridgid male ends. It needed a swivel end and a fitting. Must have been made from 2 hoses. Took them with my cell phone so sorry about the quality. JB

Saddletramp you are so right!!! I got out ok. I have my daughter so no child support and Texas is not an alimony state. Since she is moving in about 2 weeks she won't even be able to come back on me for anything. Freebird I got your back. Let me know where they are and I'll warn ya if they cross state lines. We got lots of land and a whole 'nother country and aint' afraid to use them. Hell, I feel so good today I am playing hooky from work to putter around and get a few other things done. JB

BuddyRich and all, I am hoping to run the wheels off of Mocha this coming weekend!! Thinking about taking off early Friday and going around Canyon Lake just to set the valve covers. Then home and change oil and put in the synthetic. Maggie says for me to go Sat. and Sun and run til I drop. Hope the weather is good. Hoping to get a headset this week - be nice to chat a bit. Sorry I missed the run today. However, I had a great day tinkering.

Hi everyone, Sorry to have been hiding for a while. Had to finish a 1.5 year divorce from a 20yr. marriage. It kinda kept me down a bit since December. Couldn't go anyplace, show any money, or do anything that might upset the procedure. Well, Thursday was it. Before the judge for 15 minutes and done. Went Friday and signed the rest of the papers. Hell, I even hid Mocha - afraid that she might have been grabbed. Had to have Maggie purchase all the Christmas stuff this year and the whole 9 yards. I got custody of my daughter and the ex-wife is moving back to Ohio (Sorry Freebird). This week I will move my title over, get insurance back on and get back to living. Finished a bunch of maintenance this weekend and only need the CORRECT grommets to finish the valve covers. Hell, I finished 86er's rear headset jack even!! Thanks to everyone for being around. I never felt alone reading the posts. Almost felt like I was along for the rides. I know compared to many others, my problem wasn't big, but it sure depressed and stressed me quite a bit. JB

I picked up the gaskets and the special seals for the bolt holes. The rubber is circa 1986 and no longer pliable. There are 16 of the at 1.50 to 2.00 a pop. However, ask 86er you need to change these or smell burnt oil. JB -
A POI list can be converted into many formats. Different GPS inits use different file types. However I have found a bunch of file convertors. We should be able to handle about any brand. The simplest is an excel spreadsheet. I think Mapquest and other websites offer Lat. and Long. options for thosewho don't have a GPs. Another thought. What a way for those with a GPS to meet new people. Drive over, have a meal and a ride and map them out!!! JB

Glad you found a helmet she likes. Reputable brand and nice features. Fit and comfort are subjective to each person. I am going to try different ones later this spring. I like my Scorpion EXO-200 but want a shorty helmet for commuting in town. JB

Amazing how certain foods bring back memories. My grandmother's apple pie, the fruitcake my mom made, and so many other things. Enjoy the food and the memories. And if you find a tin of Tim Horton's fix a pot for me. JB

Glad to see you here. I joined last fall and have found a bike and a pile of great friends. This place is not your usual internet community. Here is where we meet to plan rides and places to get together in person. If you are ever near Texas, stop by for some BBQ and a hill country ride. JB

I have the EXO 200 with the interchangeable shield/visor. Vents great with room for glasses. Face shields switch in about a minute without tools. I have the clear, the smoked, and the visor. Just got another one for the navigator. They are DOT and SNELL. JB
