  1. Dang - looks like a good place for 5 gallons of gas and a road flare. Don't need boots and belts that bad. JB
  2. Morning BuddyRich, How is the bike doing? I see you have the HID Bi-Xenon. Wanna share your installation and vendor? I have been thinking about this option for a while. I want to retain my hi-low capability. The headlight on a 1sr Gen just seems to be inadequate. JB
  3. I would suggest the purchase route. You can add Rick at Buckeye Performance to the list. He also sells the solid mounts. From what I can tell, it is a good all-day job to put them in. Probably 6-8 hours depending on tools and equipment. I recall seeing a few write-ups on the subject. Some of them are tight to access. JB
  4. Don - I erased all cookies etc. Then used Google to find the site. Booked marked from there and hit all sorts of links. Seems to be very fast and stable. Tried my cell phone connection and I can see a visible difference. Good job and the double move. Thanks for all your work. JB
  5. Kinda testy ain't we!!!! Can you read me now? JB
  6. Just a note. There will be a maintenance day in McKinney on June the 21st. I will be there as well as a few others. If it still gives you hassles come on down. Bet we can fix it without new dealer parts. Also a good time to meet members and help break in a new grill. JB
  7. Jackie, I am in San Antonio if you are close and need a hand. I have done quite a bit of electrical on my 1986. Unless the board is physically damaged, a solder job should fix ir. JB
  8. Haven't approached him yet or given any indications of interest. Kinda being a dark horse on this one. JB
  9. DON MUST RIDE. THE SITE WILL SURVIVE! WE ARE NOT AT CRITICAL MASS. I THINK YOU ARE. :Avatars_Gee_George::sick::starz: JB
  10. There is a 1984 blonde on e-bay. Looks pretty good. Thinking about getting a 1st Gen Mark 1 for the stable. Anyone game to go look at it? Maybe take a few pictures. Looks like a small used motorcycle shop. Seller is acesmotorcycles. Thanks, JB
  11. I agree that Rick is a great source. He is always polite and believes in customer relations. Recently ordered my cltch hydraulic parts. He checked part numbers and got back to me with availability. Had a couple good discussions with him on clutch plates and pressure plate styles. He really is a Venture supporter. JB
  12. I ordered mine from e-bay. Came in with the correct NGK ends and a good quality silicone solid core wire. I can look when I get home for the name. They sell on e-bay all the time. Watch the coil nuts and o-rings. Make sure you salvage them from the old wires. Buckeye Performance does sell the nuts and o-rings as a separate item. JB
  13. It is possible that the clutch has had the PCW Racing modification. It consists of removing the last metal spacer in the bottom and replacing it with an extra friction disc. Then there is a stronger diaphragm spring installed in place of the stock unit. I hope to pull my clutch down soon and do the above modification. I am just waiting for the rebuild kits and the gasket. If you still have problems, I can take pictures before and after when I rebuild my clutch basket. JB
  14. I agree on the filters. When setting up our stock cars, we have to work the RPM range. This means things like velocity stacks and carb spacers are out. I didn't realize that the carbs on the VR were restricting the motor that much. For the street on our touring bikes an open box would not work well. With your information in mind, the V-Max box seems to be the best idea. I would suspect in this case, that the intake vaccum would be altered by the different air box. That would also me changing the spark advance mechanism to match!! Yack!!! To much messing around for a touring bike. Now, if I find a spare VR things would be different. V-Max driveline grafted into a Venture Royale.
  15. Go to the tools area on Internet explorer and clear the browser history. You can choose to clear all or just parts such as cookies. I also deleted my shortcut in favorites for the site and then recreated it. Just in case there was an I.P. address problem. JB
  16. I did have the stuff archived. It should be in your e-mail box. It will be from my RoadRunner account. (lonestarmedic@satx.rr.com) JB
  17. AWWH now you ruined my fun. My favorite pastime is to ride and read this website on my laptop while drinking coffee as I go to work in the morning. Guess I will have to just turn up my MP3 player a bit louder and go back to shaving. JB
  18. J and M has been advertising shorty helmet setups.. They are even removeable if you dont need them. I have J and M in my Scorpion 3/4 helmets and love them. Good solid manufacturer. BuddyRich has Scorpion 1/2 helmets and I believe that the speakers attach to the earpads on his. JB
  19. Don, I am running on my cell phone connection today so I decided to turn of the sidebars. I went from a 10-20 second page load to a 3-5 second page load. Now, my speed is limited to 2.4mbps because of the bluetooth to my phone. However with this as a constant I can see a difference. JB
  20. Hey Squeeze- With the modifications, is the original design and airflow of the box still valid. I like the idea of the V-Max box. I studied this and have found a lot of V-Max hot rodders going to individual filters etc. Makes me wonder about the effect at anything but WOT. If he has a spare airbox it would be a good time to tinker. I have a link someplace from the V-Max Outlaw page that outlines the airflow from stock box to open carbs. It seems to me that there is a definate difference with the filter exposed on a stock 1st Gen. My 1986 runs poorly until the lid is put on. That tells me the carbs are running restricted. It may very well take a lot of tuning and re-jetting to get the air/fuel ratio correct if the box is modified. JB
  21. Don, I have most of your plans including pictures with dimensions and the "L" bracket and allen bolt on the stand. Also have the AIS modification pictures. It is all in a word document. If you need it let me know. You might be able to edit and clean it up for archiving. JB
  22. Looks good. I've been looking for the same setup. I thought about the 1" problem. How about an airbox and cut down the sides. Then put a flat panel automotive filter in. Probably need to put a couple crossbars under the filter to support the panel. As long as you keep a couple inches between the filter and the bottom the air flow should be good. Then mpd the original box top by opening it up and putting an air scoop on the lid that goes the entire top. This should enable you to keep the original false tank configuration. How about the carbs fitting between the upper frame bars? Any widening needed? JB
  23. This gave me an idea. How about using a 1" ratchet strap? Take the long end and put a series of wraps like your rope. Then anchor the strap to the bike frame etc. Should work like your rope without the stretch. Just make sure to protect the basket from the strap hook. JB
  24. Here is the exact same thing I put on. E-bay item #130221271156. The seller has a bunch of these at various prices and shipping charges. I can hit Wally world this weekend and check the part number. I may even have the number in the garage. JB
  25. I have noticed that tonite the site is running about twice as fast as yesterday. Can't say exactly which items ran slower than others. I figured that it would take a few weeks to tailor the site in for the traffic. No problem as far as I am concerned, just growing pains. JB
