  1. Why not just drill a hole in the top of the battery and stick the probe down into it? I got my battery from Walmart and the hole was too small, I drilled it out bigger and it works just fine.
  2. Way to go Steve. I was wondering the other day when you would be retiring. I've been retired for 7 1/2 years..... AND LOVING IT. I'm still helping my son out by torching the centers out of semi wheels so he can crush them to get the tire off....... done around 600 of them so far. Centers weigh around 35 pounds (600X35=10 1/2 tons) and the rest of the wheel 51 pounds, and the tire weighs around 125 pounds. He's gettting $240.00 a ton for the steel.... glad I can help him. I'm in better shape now than when I was working.
  3. I liked the 50s El Camino the best. Here's a picture of my 56 El Camino that I built and of the model I also built.
  4. Here's the stuff I use. I also use fiberglass cloth with it. It's costs less than $5.00 at Auto Zone. Works great.
  5. Single engine motorcycle
  6. Trevor, You have un-knowingly purchased the fastest color Venture....... Silver!!!!!! Is your's a Standard or a Royale? My 88 is a Standard, and the color is Salt Lake Silver/Anthony Gray. I've only seen four of this color combination and I've owned two of them. Does your's look the same? Here are two of the bikes, the front one is actually a 93 with 88 plastic on it; me and my bike are in the back. My bike has 127,000 miles on it and doesn't use any oil. Me and the other two owners have only used YamaLube 10w/40. Dunlop 491 Elete II is the ONLY tire I'll buy..... I've had Avon's and hate them. Tom
  7. Here's what I did. It's a little hard to see in this picture but for the person behind you it's really bright (LED). It flashes, so as long as I have the brake lever or foot brake on it's just blinking away. No holes were drilled, it's put on with two sided tape, and has been on there for a number of years. You could put it under your luggage rack. I bought it at either Auto Zone or Advance Auto. I just spliced into the brake light wiring, works GREAT, and was fairly cheap.
  8. My avatar shows me on the south side of lake Superior with my chaps and leather coat on WITHOUT electric..... temp was in the high 30s. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in '61 I rode my 250 Honda till the middle of Dec., lowest temp was 11F. But then guys I live in the South too, Southern Minnesota.

  20. I have a 88 Standard Venture (the fastest color - Salt Lake Silver/Anthony Gray) with 127,000 miles on it; I get 42 - 43 mpg @ 70 mph and use the mid-range gas. Two years ago I also got 30 - 32 mpg. I changed the plugs, plug wires, did the Sea Foam thing, had carbs gone through, new diaphrams and slides, new air cleaner, had valves adjusted (first time ever... and one was too tight), Carbs Sync, and with all this my milage went up to 38 mpg, AND THEN it went up to 42 - 43 mpg when I did the Needle Shim Mod.

  25. I had a guy follow me way toooo close on a knearled road, I tried to get him to back off but the jerk just stayed on my a**, I couldn't pull over and let him by because there was no shoulder, finally the construction ended and I just pulled over and let him go by. I followed him right up to his house, got off my bike to give him a good talking to. Started to take my helmet off BUT saw that there were two of them and left it on just in case.........
