Since I have half the bike torn apart, I thought I may as well see what's under the travel trunk and seat. I am now trying to replace/regenerate the desiccant (silicagel) in the drier tube in my 1989 Venture. Got to the part where owners manual (and manual for 1st gens) say to push on cap and remove circlip. WELL....what a chore. Pushed with all my might and finally got the circlip out. Thought man that must be one heck of a spring....but nothing happened after removing the circlip. I CAN NOT remove the cap. I even grabbed it with a plumbers pliers. I can wiggle it, can slightly turn it, but can't remove it. The whole canister and cap seem to be made out of aluminum. I wonder if this has never been changed and it is all corroded up inside? Any suggestions? Probably my next move is to soak the heck out of it with penetrating fluid or such. It will ruin the silicagel, but that can be replaced. Open to suggestions from this knowledgeable crowd. -
I have a 89 VR and would like to put some fresh speakers up front. What shape are they and what size also, I just want something plug and play. Any suggestions on what to put in would be great! A co- worker told me he has a pair of 3" (square) Pioneers, Would these fit? Thanks Ron

We decided, rather impulsively, to make a weekend run from Dallas to Fredericksburg, Tx. tomorrow. Was wondering if any members might have suggestions for rides, good restaurants, and/or bars. I have never been there, but a co-worker has given me a few ideas. Since we are leaving Sat. morning and won't take a computer, any thoughts on Friday night would be appreciated. Also, if anyone is in that area, maybe we could get together. We are staying overnight at the Hog Stop Inn (one of those suggestions).

Home again and pulled big yellow out from under her tarp. unplugged the trickle charger, checked all the necessities, and started cranking. No luck. It will turn over like a champ, getting spark, but just refuses to fire up even with starter fluid. been trying for a couple days now and it's not wanting to cooperate. Any suggestions before my migraine gets worse? Going to go get a new set of plugs Tuesday and once again pull them and put in the new ones. -
I’ve been thinking I would like to eventually chrome the front-end of my 06 Black Cherry… forks, clutch and break etc. Has anyone done this and how did you do it? Did you send your parts in to be chromed (if so are you happy with how it turned out) or did you trade in your stock parts for aftermarket? Any tips, suggestions or cautions... I value your thoughts, ideas and opinions. P.S. I’m looking forward meeting many of you at the 2008 Rally in Kitchener, Cheers!

i read in one magazine about the rucksack(not sure about the spelling) of Alpinestars..? can we store many clothes in that..actually i am searching for a big bag when i goes ride for 10days and more...any suggestions would be useful..

I am considering a J&M Model HS8154 headset for a 3/4 helmet ( I have an '88 Venture Royale). Is this a decent quality product? I have seen it mentioned here a few times. I am probably looking to use it with the CB more than anything else...just to communicate with others I am riding with. And then probably only looking to use it on a limited basis. I ride solo most of the time so not really looking to communicate with passengers. If anyone has other suggestions let me know.......and if you know make, model etc. I would appreciate it. I have seen the recommendations to shop at WingStuff but as a Canadian I will pay a premium in shipping, duties etc. to get it here. So suggestions for that would be appreciated too. Thanks! rez

I finaly broke down and bought a set of Barons bag slash and go them on the bike today. I really like the sound of these things, althou I am going to modify the baffles to tone them down just a bit. Put my son inlaw outside to listen to me ride by and he said they had a nice deep rumble and sounded like the old cars with the straight pipes. Anyway I have a couple of concerns. First I think I rember reading they change the mount to give more clearance. Ended up real close to the back of the sidebags. See the attchments. Not realy crazy about the angle. May modify the mount some how. Any suggestions. Second I now have a lot of poping on decel that I didn't have before. Not really that bad but very noticeable. Carbs, rejet, remove AIS? Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

We have been thinking of going to Death Valley in October. Would like to do it on the RSV but wondering how the conditions are likely to be that time of year. Does any one have any experience with that area? And particularly around that time of year? Any suggestions?

I need to put a new rear tire on my 84 1st. Gen. I currently have Avon Venom-x's on it. The front is good for quite a few more miles yet. The rear however, went way to fast. I'm an aggressive rider, (when I'm not two up anyway) but it should have lasted more than 7000 miles. Any suggestions on what to buy for a replacement? I figure I should be able to find a half way descent one for $125-$200. I need something that will last longer than the Avon did but still have plenty of grip for the high speed tail pipe scrapping curves. Any suggestions or warnings of what to stay away from?

I've got the windshield off and the headlight out and I can't even see the cable. Just about 1.7 million wires. Any suggestions? Does the big plastic piece that would be the top of the dash come out? and how? Thanks for any help... -
When the tape reverses, the tape doesn't play at a constant speed. Has anybody ever had any success replacing the belts in one of these? How tricky is it? Any suggestions? Thanks. -
Greetings from Indiana. New to site and first post. Just had factory passing lamps installed and need to adjust them up. Side to side is no problem but looked at them and it dosent apear they go up without tearing them apart. Suggestions and any info would be appreciated. I just recieved my Avons this week & picked up my tire changer/mc adapter. How about some suggestions or better yet, pictures of how you balance the tires once you get them mounted? I've had a couple of suggestions but some pics would help. Thanks, Curt

Down here in Mickey Mouse land, we have a problem with humidity. As such, sometimes when I leave for work at o dark thirty in the morning, I hit areas on the road where my windshield goes completely white and is fogged over. Any ideas or suggestions? I do wax it with Honda spray polish but that does not seem the make any difference. Also, I don't have a windshield vent like some bikes I have seen.

I was thinking about adding some additional some additional lighting to the rear of my bike, Since it is not a Venture, a lightbar on the trunk is out. So, any ideas? Suggestions? Thoughts? I have already installed the Kuryakyn run/turn/brake controller so I have a little more back there. My opinion is the more the merrier!! -
I have a 06 RSTD. I installed a set of mufflers from Barons, plugged off the AIS system, balanced the carbs. Barons said i don't have to rejet the carbs. I am still getting some popping on deceleration. Any suggestions?
