1. Just checked my speedo with GPS..accurate at least up to 115..right with my speedo...Found the perfect hwy peg..Ergo peg with the addition of the mini arms by Kuryakyn.1.5 inch long and extends out a little..Now my legs are VERY comfortable... having the floorboards instead of pegs and hwy pegs that are perfect Did 500 miles yesterday..it was a breeze now getting ready for our 7000 mile trip starting 8/21/2010
2. Well, I did it. I traded my Venture. I never toured, so it was just too big and heavy for jumping on and cruising. What did I replace it with? A 2010 Honda 1300 Custom Interstate... http://i43.tinypic.com/2eeaa1c.jpg It's a lot lower, lighter and easier to handle. I coudn't give up the shield, floorboards and bags and I have an engine guard on order to take the Kuryakyn highway pegs. I'm also ordering a sound system, so I won't miss too many of the extras the Venture offered (never used the CB or cruise anyway).
3. I'd like your thoughts on mini floor pegs for the forward engine guards. Do they help, are they available?
4. Just curious as to how those of you that installed hiway pegs, how have you mounted the brackets...to the front or to the back or in between...and how you have pegs pointing? Pictures would be of GREAT help and an explanation as to why you have them the way you have them mounted. This can be helpful for BOTH vertically challenged TALL and SHORT people. Thanks, Wally
5. I was checking to see if someone can help me. The first set of pictures is of my highway pegs bracket. I am wanting to know if anyone can tell me what they are made out of and if there is a way for me to cold weld them back together. I don't know if something like J-B weld will hold them. I really hate to buy a new set when all I need is this one piece. The second picture can somebody please tell me where on the bike these go. The last set can somebody tell me what they fit. I bought them off Ebay because I thought they would fit my bike. They have don't have the flap to make them open like a door. They have a lever in place of a lock and then 2 pegs sticking out on the other side. I don't know if they fit something with the radio or not. They don't fit my bike and i would be willing to trade them or sell them. I am looking for a set for the left side I don't have a radio just the pocket.
6. I just love when someone approaches me and tells me that I have the pegs in the wrong direction and after a simple explanation why They understand As you see in the photo, the peg is upside down from the usual position shown in many advertising photos. If you place them my way you get the extra 1-1/2 inch spread with the rubber pad It makes a big difference if you have a cramp on your leg and you need that extra footing
7. i have a beautiful set of boards with heel/toe shifter......got pegs? with linkage, brake n shifter? maybe we can work out a deal
8. ok, i have floor boards and highway boards.....just bought the 86 royal, (first full dresser) former cruiser styles....wanted to test the waters on an older bike first....found a very well kept up and beautiful one.................with the heal toe shifter, brake and boards, i find myself not being able to brake as fast as i like because of my own coordination......boards sit up high and lifting my toes to the brake is not a natural feel to me at all. they look great and r great under ur feet, just thinking of my comfort and safety. anyone else feel this way? anyway to put forward controls on or lower the boards and controls? if not.....what do i need to put stock pegs and controls back on? does anyone have some and want to throw in some cash for these boards? any info anyone has would be a huge help......
9. I ordered a set of Kuryakn Longhorn forward crusing pegs. The package arrive yesturday and I got the big ready to install them. I opened the box...and guess what? I got a set of Harly Davidson rear riders extened pegs! Rats! Called the vendor, and they said someone transposed one number and I get screwed. Anyway, they are paying postage to return and are sending the right part this time...Well that;s what they say. I just freaken hate it when this crap happens.
10. Folks, I will be needing 1" Chrome Clamps to install Larry (Carbon-One) braces for Crash Bars stiffening. Then with the Crash Bars now stiff I would like to add Foot Pegs. The 1" Clamps are pretty standard equipment... Can anyone recommend Good Foot Pegs at JC Whitney? The reason for JC Whitney is Free Shipping over $75.00. Maybe all JC Whitney Foot Pegs are Crap??? Thanks for your trusted advice as always here at VR.Org.
11. When I bought my bike, it had a set of Kuryakyn Dually ISO pegs (with offset) on it, along with a chrome/brushed looking cupholder, both which I removed when I got it home. The bike only had 8k miles on it, so the pegs are in great shape. On the bottom of one of the offsets near the clamp, there is a small scuff. It can be seen in the second 2 pics, of the bottoms of the pegs. It wasn't noticeable on the bike because it faces down. I'm really comfortable with my feet on the floorboards, and wear a full face helmet, so I don't ever plan to reinstall them. There are a few items I would like to add to the bike, so I was hoping someone here might like to do a trade for items of similar value. I'm definitely interested in handlebar risers, and also looking at lamp visors, the chrome trim for the front fender, and a good set of vacuum guages. I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I couldn't put a price and don't know if the pegs fit 1st gens, so I'm trying my post here.
12. what size is the crash bar and what size highway pegs will fit it.
13. I seen some pics on this site with bikes that had "what looked to be" highway pegs mounted on the floor boards. I would like to get some highway pegs for mine but I'm verticle challanges with a 30" inseam. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks Mark
14. I finally upgraded my horn (thanks to Carbon1's bracket) and added highway pegs. I'm still playing with the adjustments on the pegs.. Right where I would like them they interfere with my air vents, so at the moment I have them just back enough so the vents still work, but I think that they are a little too close there.. I guess I will try them just forward of the vents next. Oh I got the Kuryakyn longhorn offset dually with ISO wing pegs. www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/18/scID/53/IMID/460
15. I decided to mount highway pegs on my floor boards in stead of the crash bars. This is what I ended up with. They are made for a Road Star. They are drill to mount. I love them. They get my feet away from the motor heat during the hot summer months. http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0295.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0296.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0297.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0298.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0299.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0300.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0301.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/IMG_0303.jpg
16. Anyone know what the maximum lean angle is before you start dragging boards or pegs (on a 1st gen)? Thanks!
17. I purchased a set of floorboards for my 88VR from a member here quite some time ago and just never had the spare time to put them on. I am taking a road trip next week and decided today to make the time to get them on so I could find out if they were more comfortable than the pegs (been reading the pros and cons in other threads). Well I removed the pegs and started putting the floorboards on and came to realize I am missing 2 of the chrome spacers that go between the frame and the floorboards. I got 2 of them, don't know if I didn't get them and lost them or just didn't get them, makes no difference, I don't have them now and I need all 4 to install the boards. I mic'd the ones I do have and 1 is 22.30 MM and 1 is 17.75 MM thick. I'm not sure what all of the thiickness needed are but if anyone has these 2 spacers I am missing and would be willing to part with them please give me a shout. The spacers are 25.30 MM across and have a 10.5 MM hole in the center of them.. I am attaching a photo of a set of boards I got from yet another member that was helping me to understand how to install these. You'll note in this picture there are a total of 4 spacers. I didn't get any of the bolts with the boards either but those aren't a problem as I can get those locally at Lowes or Home Depot. Thanks in advance for everyones helpas always...This is a great site.
18. Last week i had wrote stating i bought some of those yamaha branded highway foot pegs for our bike & was asked to let ya'll know how i liked them. with my size 8 shoe/boot & a short (28") inseam, the pegs are great for me. i have them angled inward and my boots fit in the stirrup section quite nicely while my heel rests on the floorboard. if i need to stretch some to catch a bit more breeze or find a different foot placement, the spike end of the peg rests nicely in the middle of the ball of the foot. i tend to shuffle around so i am always moving from floor board to peg. others who are larger in stature wished me luck with these & i am satisfied with them. I can see where a larger boot print and longer legs would not like these pegs. a big plus is that they do look great on the bike in replacement of the universal foot pegs that came on the bike. thanks for all the input & from the differences in pricing stated in the previous post, i only paid 5 bucks more than necessary. of the other shopping blunders i have experienced - 5 bucks was a bargain. 19. I had seen a pair of these nice foot pegs with Yamaha on them on ebay. they went for a good bit of money. then late (early) one night while serfing, i logged into ebay & found a new in the wrapper set. it was buy now or make offer. i made an offer. low n behold they were in my mailbox 4 days later. man, was I excited. i got to install them tonight. Please take a look at the universal ones that were on my bike when purchased and the new Yammy ones. i am happy to say i have less than 38 bucks in them with shipping and they look so much nicer than the universal pegs. now if the rain will ease up, i can test ride them!! 20. Ive had my 88 venture about a month now, able to fix most of the minor glitches, so yesterday took it on a patriot guard mission of 400 miles, LI to Dover Delaware and back home, escorting a fallen marine L/Corporal. The bike performed well mechanically, but comfort level wasnt what i expected, i dont like the pegs, both legs were cramping after about 5 hr, right had was numb, and dont get me started on the stock seat. the seat and the hand cramps can be addressed, but does any body know if there is a footboard/ forward control rig for these bikes, thanks for listening. Frank
21. When I bought my bike, it had a set of the Longhorn Offset Dually highway pegs on it. I don't like them. I can't seem to get them adjusted where I want them. I would like to trade them for a pair of straight (no offset) pegs similar to these. If you are interested let me know.
22. Need to try and raise the passenger foot pegs 6" to 8" on mt 83VR for my Daughter before riding to the hub. Her feet touch now but her legs rests on the side bag mounting bars and hurts after just a little bit of riding. Long time ago I saw a rear peg that had a chrome piece that fold up and down on it that would add about 4" in height. Any Ideas?
23. So I scored a pretty good deal on some cruiser pegs at the harley shop last weekend. KuryAkyn part #7995, the application is for softail models 1985 and up. Basically it's a small peg with an offset. Really like the look of this one so I figured I can make it work. The pegs don't come with the ring for around the crash bar as I'm sure on the softail it's a straight bolt on into a pre-tapped hole. Bought 2 1" rings and stopped and picked up a couple of half inch nuts on the way home. Assembly went well but having trouble getting the rings on crash bar to quit slipping once I put foot on it. They want to push away when I go to rest my foot on them. Any suggestions? Was thinking rubber from inner tube might work. I think I had this kinda problem with the last pegs when I bought them too and those where for this application but I removed a washer and that did the trick these didn't have the washers so it's as tight as it can get right now. Idea's please... Thanks in advance. Oh total cost was less than 80 bucks. Thanks again.
24. Hi All, Well I've had my '86 venture (land yacht) for about 2 weeks now and am loving every minute of it. Question I have is I've seen pictures of ventures with rider floorboards vice the standard pegs yet I've looked online and can't find them to purchase anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? It's just not fair that the wife gets floorboards and I don't.
25. Hi all: Is there anyone with the Diamond R Passenger Highway Pegs installed on their Second Gen Venture within 100 Miles of Virginia Beach? Honey would like to try them (maybe a short ride) prior to purchasing a set. Any help would be greatly appreciated .
