  1. ok so i am going to ask a stupid quistion. how many VentureRider ralleis have there been? I know that this years is in Harrison AR where is next years going to be or has it not been decided yet? not in no hurry just wanted to know how much money i am going to have to save up for the trip next year.
  2. I bought a part from kncklhd 1 in White Plains, Maryland. They lost it. Anyone had any dealings with this E-Bay member? How do you loose a 40 lb part before you ship it? Got my money back but really wanted part.
  3. I know there is already another "cheap carb sync" thread but I had a little time at work today to make a .pdf and I'm sure there are some here that don't know that there is an option. The Carbtune is still an easier way but if you like to tinker and would rather spend the money you save on something else then this is the way to go. And I like this style better than the yardstick and tubing style because there is no chance of sucking any liquid into the engine. $10 dollar carb sync
  4. Only 2 days left on this auction. Money needs to go to freebird and when he lets me know that he has received the money then I will ship it out. Winner will need to PM me your address and I will have it ready to ship out. thanks

    Helmet Help

I need another helmet. I have a big head but am thinking about one of those flip up full face helmets. I wonder if it is too hot; I live in North Carolina and it gets pretty warm in the summer. Also, price is an issue since I'm retired and still some of money is going to the stimulus package, so I don't have a lot of extra. I ride a 2004 Venture Royal Star. Looking for advice here. Thanks.
  6. Well, here is a story, with a happy ending, that took 9 months to occur. Last July, Charlie (dragerman) and myself were talking about ordering some parts and accessories for our bikes. We talked about using South Seattle Sports, but we decided on Motor Sports Super Center http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/ from Alabama. Their prices were very similar to South Seattle. And they had good shipping rates too! So we put together an order for the 2 of us which consisted of Billet Brake Pedal Cover (Me) Billet Shift Peg Covers (Me) 2 Billet Oil filler caps (Both) Tri-bar headlight (Charlie) Billet Carb Covers (Charlie) Billet License frame (Charlie) Front Fender Trim rail (Charlie) 2 Chrome rear brake fluid res covers (Both) Billet Choke knob cover (Charlie) Well we also decided to ask Bongobob if he would take delivery of our parts, and we would go and visit him to collect them to save on international shippin and taxes and duty. (if any of our members work for Canada Customs or CRA please disregard this entire post ) So anyways, they charged my credit card immediately and shipped off the parts that they had in stock. We got everything except my shift peg covers & the carb covers. Which were back ordered. All the parts arrived in short order and Charlie went off to visit Bob, and brought back his and my parts. This was JULY of '08!!! Well, a month or so came and went, but no parts. So I called and spoke to Bill at Motor Sports Super Center (see website addy above) and he apologized for the delay and said he would try to find out what was going on. So a few weeks later I called Bill back, being a bit peeved this was taking so long. I was going to ask for my money back, and I would get my parts elsewhere. Talked to Bill again, and he apologized, and looked up the parts again. The back order date was going to be September. He offered me my money back, without me even asking. I guess we could wait a bit longer. That Bill guy sounded honest (I think it was his southern accent, reminded me of Enos from the Dukes of Hazzard) I called Charlie and told him what was going on. Charlie was ok with the wait, since nowhere else had the parts in stock either Well, September came and went, with no shift peg covers, or carb covers. I was getting a bit worried now, so I figured that I better call again, and get a refund for the parts. I talked to Bill again, and he took another look for the part. He told me that the new ship date was going to be October, but if I didn't want to wait, he would gladly refund my money. He just sounded so darn apologetic, I started to feel bad for buggin the poor guy. I told him I would hold off, and would get them in October. Jump ahead to October - No parts. This really was beginning to annoy me. I mean what kind of business takes 4 months to deliver parts? It was ridiculous, and totally unacceptable. I wanted my money back. So I called Bill at Motor Sports Super Center (website above) and demanded to know what the hell was going on with Charlie's carb covers and my shift peg covers! He apologized again and checked into the situation, Yamaha had again pushed back the delivery date to November! I was not going to stand for this. But something about the way that Bill wanted to refund my money made me pause..(insert pause here) and I thought of the best thing to do, and then it hit me! I knew exactly what to do! I ordered some more parts! Yeah! That will teach him to mess with me!! I put in an order for some brake pads for Charlie and I, and a set of chrome master cylinder covers for me! Bill offered to use the carb cover credit against the new order, but I figured just bill me the whole thing, and I will wait for the carb covers. I mean, it has been 4 months, what will another month be? So our brake pads arrived and my shift peg covers and master cylinder covers. But no carb covers. The winter came, and we put our bikes away for the winter. December, January, February & March all came and went, with no sign of Charlie's carb covers. I called Bill about once a month, just to check on the progress, (I think he started to recognize my voice on the phone) and it seemed that every month Yamaha kept pushing the date back. And everytime he freely offered his apologies, and my money back. It seems that the manufacturer would not make any more parts, without a huge minimum order, I guess Yamaha had to get enough orders to actually go ahead and make them. Yesterday, I thought I would give Bill a call, and find out when Yamaha had pushed the delivery date back to this time. I got Bill on the line, and he was such a happy guy! He had literally just gotten back to the store, from dropping off the carb covers with USPS. He gave me my tracking number!! I was a bit stunned at first, I don't know if I really believed that this day would come! And to make this even better, Bill shipped the parts directly to me, at no extra charge, just to try and make up for the delay, and inconvenience. That is how you can make a customer wait 9 months for a part, and still get him to reccommend your store. The delays were unavoidable, but it was the service from Motor Sports Super Center. I certainly would say, that I can recommend them. If you are in a rush for your parts, I would give Bill a call (1 (888) 880-2277 )though, rather than order though the website, just to be sure he has things in stock. Tell him Sonny from Canada sent you! I think I might have to start calling Bill just to see how he is doing now! LOL!

    atm

don't know weather this is true or not If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234, then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcasted on FOX TV, and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists. Please pass this along.
  8. Well not really. But lately I've been selling things on CL all over the US. Listed locally, but getting folks in Fl., Mi., NY., responding to my ads. This may be the new Ebay except it's free.... And if this keeps up, it may not be free for very long. Ebay does own 25% of CL... They gotta be aware of what's going on...........
  9. So many toys; so little money. But it's still a neat looking rig. Is it a members? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Yamaha-Venture-Royale-1986-Venture-Royale-27058-orig-miles-withsidecar_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a5Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem320353008884QQitemZ320353008884QQptZUSQ5fmotorcycles
  10. Believe it or not it seems that my wife and I have both stopped smoking. It has been 5 weeks so far and we are both doing great. I just put them down and havent touched one since, she started out with the patches and is almost off of them. It amazes me that I have spent so much money over the years on this. We decided to put back the money that we would have spent on smokes and do something with it so the first thing we did was buy a new set of tires for the bike. I have been wanting a set of avons so we decided to go ahead and get them before our trip to gatlinburg next month. We stopped smoking with two other couples who are our best friends, one couple is hanging in there with us and the other couple only made it a couple of hours. now my problem is that the dang dryer seems to be shrinking all my clothes again! :big-grin-emoticon:l
  11. my dad had an MGB GT back in 1974. i think it was around a 1964 or maybe a little later. he sold it to a very good friend of mine in 1974. it was in very good condition at the time and ran perfect. my friend called this morning and asked if i would like to have it back. he won't take any money. it has been sitting in his garage and not started since 1974. i don't think he ever drove it after he brought it home. all he has done is air up the tires. i am trying to decide whether it would be worth making a project out of, or worth the trouble to mess with. i told him to sell it but he insists that i have it cuz it was my dads car. i was thinking about trying to get it running and selling it and giving my friend part of the money. i don't know if i want to tackle a frame off restoration. does anyone know what this may be worth as is, or would anyone be interested in buying it from my friend. he lives in jerseyville illinois. bill ps. i am waiting for his call to verify the year and condition.
  12. If I could afford it I would buy it in a heartbeat......you gotta see it to believe it............costs about $150,000.00.......but wait till you see what it does............. Terrafugia
  13. Only 12 hours left to replace that old torn used up seat on your 1st Gen. The auction will end in a little over 12 hours and remember all the money goes to the Kids at St. Jude Children's Hospital, and if the bid goes over $60.00, Squidley will pay $15.00 of the shipping charges, so lets make him put up some more of his hard earned cash :mo money:............ Thanks to Brad everyone else who has offered up items for auction to help the Kids at St. Jude, and thanks to the membership for helping make it possible with all their generous bids..........
  14. Saw this one on Ebay. If it doesn't go for much more than the opening bid, Part it out, and make some MONEY...
  15. My client base is changing a little but business is still good. I had one customer wanting communications for his Bounty Hunter business. Another one is starting up a Repo business. He said he gets shot at once in a while but banks pay him good money for hauling vehicles in. Oh well as long as I get paid. I still keep the bear hunters in communications to.
  16. I'm just curious if any of you use an online service such as ETrade, Scottrade, etc. to buy and sell stocks? I know that times are bad right now but I also think it's a GREAT time to make some money in the stock market if you invest wisely. I've never used an online service but there are a couple of stocks that I am intersted in right now.
  17. Saw this listing for this bike 2008 Yamaha Venture, custom paint, custom seats, chrome wheels, much much more, show winner and $24,000 invested.Sale for $12,995.00.I have his number if anyone is interested.Bike is in SC.
  18. Im lookin for parts and watching e-bay close. But ill prolly be buying parts and painting them to match the color I want. I was thinking that most parts for a second gen are interchangable. Is this true? and is it true from 1999 thru 2009? So if I find a front cowl (looking for both pieces) would any year from 99 thru 09 fit my 2000? These parts are $900 to $1100 from the dealer. If i can find them used and paint em I could save some money.
  19. Two new auctions have been posted in the Classified sections under St. Jude Auctions. Bid often, bid high:mo money:, this is for the Kids at St. Jude. St. Jude Auctions

    Just got robbed!

Wife was on the computer and called me up from the basement about to kill me for about $800.00 worth of PayPal spending......wasn't me!! Just got robbed by some unauthorized transactions.....had to file the appropriate complaints....who knows...probably be weeks before I can think about getting my money back. If they could find this lowlife and give me about five minutes in a room with him, I would be happy. Man, there are a&^%$s out there that get pleasure out of ruining someone's day.
  21. Young Paddy, moved to Kent and bought a Donkey from a farmer for £100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the Donkey the next day. The next day he drove up and said, 'Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died.' Paddy replied, 'Well, then just give me my money back.' The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.' Paddy said, 'Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey.' The farmer asked, 'What are ya gonna do with him? Paddy said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.' The farmer said, 'You can't raffle off a dead donkey!' Paddy said, 'Sure I can. Watch me.. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.' A month later, the farmer met up with Paddy and asked, 'What happened with that dead donkey?' Paddy said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two quid a piece and made a profit of £898.00.' The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?' Paddy said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two quid back.' Paddy now works for the British Government.
  22. Wow this is getting expensive. I went to advance to get a couple thing to clean the bike with. After my military discount and still $40 later i have a few things to clean the bike with. My wife is going to kill me soon. I bought the bike as a way to save money on gas to work. I am making up for that money on products to make her like aweome. I am getting away with it so far becaue i explained it isnt something i have to buy every week. Anyone else having this problem? its like a drug addiction right now.
  23. Maybe it's just that I have lived in this city too long and have trouble seeing the good in a lot of people these days. But tonight I was watching the news and maybe I need to give it another chance. This afternoon it did warm up to the 50's. A long way up from where it has been. Some bikes where out and enjoying the weather. A motorcyclist was riding out at 132nd and Pacific when some motorists noticed money was falling out of his pocket and blowing all over the street. Busy area, 4 lanes and lots of traffic. Some drivers stopped and started grabbing up the money and a couple others took off and chased the guy down and stopped him. When he returned to the area the people that had picked up the cash were waiting for him. YES! I said they were waiting. He had lost $2,500 in $100 bills out of his pocket. He got it all back except a single $100 bill. I think the LEO's that finally arrived were more shocked than he was. There are still some honest people out there. I just wish there were more of them.
  24. Jamies (Wingman) Goldwing is now posted on Ebay and someone is already trying to scam him with an offer to pay more than he is asking and wanting him to sign off on a sales contract........Told him no way you want to deal with this guy unless he shows up at your door with cash in hand.......... Wingmans Wing
