  1. Hi guys & Gals, I recieved my levelling links and the instructions that came with them are not very clear. I know some of you guys have installed them yourself, but is there a posting in here somewhere with step by step instructions or can someone here post them for me? I don't want to be a pain, but I want to save a few bucks by installing them myself. I've worked on cars and trucks before but my RSMV is new to me. Any help and/or tips is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  2. The time to replace the tires on my bike is drawing near. I have decided to use avons. I have installed the leveling links on my bike. Should I use the 130/80/16 front or use the 150/80/16? The bike handles great now with the links. Would the bike handle any better with the 130 installed. Any advise would be appreciated. Dan
  3. I need the piston and crank set of Yamaha r1..here the price is very expensive and very rare...and i dont have much time to search it..so if u have links or anything please do forward it...
  4. When it was time to change my front tire I ordered the smaller front tire. At the same time I ordered a set of leveling links. Now my question is, can I use the leveling links with the smaller front tire? Or do I stay with smaller front tire or go back to stock front and use leveling links? I thought I read on here that someone said it was not good to use both. Thanks, Dale
  5. Can anyone out there tell me more about Levelling links. Are they useful, do they make the bike more stable, easier to handle at low speeds? Please let me know, thanks in advanve for your input. Joopster
  6. I have a dilemma with my rear shock. The bike was fine and then I installed the leveling links. After about a month or so the shock began to groan. I read all the posts about how the shock shaft needs to be oiled by laying the bike over or adding oil through the shrader valve. I did both . No luck so I took it in and they removed the shock and found it is fine and holding air. They found the needle bearing were worn so they replaced them under warranty. Here come the problem. They but the regular links back on the bike and the groaning went away. They rode it for several miles and all was fine. They reinstalled my leveling links and the groaning returned. They then removed the leveling links and replaced them with the standard links and the groaning shock went away again. :confused24: Anyone else have this issue and could the links be putting the needle bearings under some kind of stress or bind that causes them to prematurely wear out. Moakster
  7. That has been circulating as an email for a while now and even though it is legitimate, the fact that there are so many links within it, it tends to hang some peoples computers up. They all share a common link... http://www.northpole.com/Kitchen/Cookbook/ and you can get to all those recipes from there without the mess of all the links listed one after the other and that each link opens in a new window, takes longer to load than accessing them from the actual web site. I posted this separate just in case the original thread did lock someone's PC up.
  8. I bought it 2 weeks ago and it is just to heavy bike for my 185 lb riding double... I put 2 new Avons on it and really very very nice shape.. And also put leveling links on bike. Does have CD player with bike Just paid 8800 for the bike I want a BMW 1150 RT any trades or offers.. Joe in NJ..
  9. Any one know what center to center dimension of leveling Links are...from diamond R
  10. I just recently received my Diamond R leveling links and would like to install them on my bike. However I believe I read somewheres on here that a standard motorcycle lift won't lift the Venture. I have the craftsman model lift that many other companies also stick there name on. Why will this lift not work, and if it doesn't is there any other secret to installing them besides going to a shop? Thanks for your help guys.
  11. Received the leveling links last week. Diamond R is good to do business with. Installed them this morning and just drove about 5 miles to office. Feels like I am sitting on an elephant. Will find out later how it handles.
  12. Has anyone here installed the Baron's Lowering Kit and wants to part with the stock rear brake caliper mounting bracket? I "un-lowered" my '06 RSV by swapping out the Baron's links with Diamond R leveling links, but the previous owner did not have the stock brake caliper bracket (or stock links). I'm looking to buy the stock rear brake caliper mounting bracket, if yours is just sitting on the shelf in yoru garage let me know before I go buy a new one.
  13. Ok, so I ordered the level links from Diamond R and just got them. Now the 2 stupid questions. They cam with new bolts - should I use those or the existing bolts that hold the factory links from Yamaha? And what type of grease should I use to lube? White Lithium or axle / bearing grease? Thanks in advance..
  14. A quick update. After input from several of you, I've upgraded to the Flanders bars from BuckeyePerformance.com, ISO grips and installed the leveling links from DiamondR on my 2007 RSV. WOW!!! what a difference. Got to learn to ride the bike all over again. I also added passing lamps, "fog lights", a Kuryakyn voltmeter and switch box. The lights are run on separate circuits with relays through a power plate located in the trunk. I highly recommend these upgrades. Best Regards, Leonard
  15. The '96 - '01 Royal Stars have a different rear suspension than the 2nd gen Ventures, and no one makes any leveling links for them, so I'll be making my own. That opens up the option of being able to raise the bike any amount I want. Since the 1st gens are said to handle so well I compared the rake angle of the 1st gen to the 2nd gen, and did some calculating to see just how much the leveling links change things. The rake angle on a 1st gen is 28.5*, and the 2nd gen is 30*. The 1" that the standard leveling links raise the bike changes the angle of the bike by .86*, creating a fork rake angle of 29.1*. To get to a 28.5* fork rake angle the back of the bike would have to be raised by 1 3/4". I could always split the difference somewhere by raising the rear say like 1 1/4" and dropping the front 1/2". As long as the rear rise plus front drop equals 1 3/4" it's all the same thing. Myself, I would prefer the full rear rise for the most cornering clearance, and I'm such a tall guy I wouldn't mind the higher seat either. This weekend I propped the rear wheel up 1 3/4" with boards and sat on the bike and it felt fine. My only real concern is that with that much rise on the bike the kickstand will be a little short. On the boards in the garage it seemed okay, but I wonder how it would be if a parking lot somewhere was sloped the wrong way or something. So the question is - for those of you with the standard 1" leveling links, how much concern is there about the slope of the ground where you park? Any at all? I'd like to get a feel for how much rear rise I could get away with as far as the kickstand length is concerned. I'd really like to not have to make these more than once. I suppose with some extra work I could design an adjustable link. Then I could make a height change in only a few minutes. Thoughts anyone?
  16. :feedback:I just received the Diamond R leveling links and will be putting them on tomorrow since it it supposed rain and I try not to ride in the rain. My question is this, I have read the write up in the tech section and it seems pretty straight forward. I am not a wrench turner by any means so is there anything I need to watch out for before starting this project? I have a lift and the lift adapter From Carbon One. Is there anything other than the EIS Reed Valve that needs to be removed to do this job, like removing the wheel, saddlebags will I need to have my wife standing by with a first aid kit? These are just a few of the questions I have.
  17. When I ordered the links, I really did not think about it, but I do not have a center stand on the bike nor do I have a bike lift. Is it at all possible to change the links without lift or stand?
  18. Well, I just received my leveling links from Diamond R today. Is this a two person job, or something I could do myself. The instructions looked pretty straight forward. I'm picking up my lift adapter hopefully this weekend from Larry, and doing it sometime soon after. Thanks for your help.
  19. Hi, before the crash there were a couple of links to items for the RSV being sold by JCWhitney. One was a link to the ad for a half-cover that fit, and the other was a link by DenDen to a shorter windshield for the RSV. The shield had a price around $82 to $85, and the cover was $39.95. I have kinda scoured the JCWhitney site and can't find either one. Can anyone help? I need to order both,,, Thanks folks! Skip
