Since I started looking for new lids, I have come across Carbon Fiber HJC with both DOT/Snell approvals. They fit well, just looking for any other input related to the Carbon material? Any issues on this rather new material for helmet use? Very light weight is a benefit, Cost is the down side. As always, appreciate the input for the riders here on the site. Thanks,

Thinking about Metzlers for my TD. Any size suggestions? I wanted to go with a bigger rear tire, but i'm not sure if it is wise. Any input is welcomed.

In june I am planning to ride north on US 41 to the Terre Haute area, then possibly take US 40 east to US 231 and head south to Owensboro, Ky. I have a few days available for this trip. I have heard riding this part of Indiana is a good ride. I would appreciate any input as to places that are must see, places to eat, roads to ride, etc. Also, anything to avoid such as traffic, construction, etc. Thanks. Bill

if i find some 32mm carbs in good shape sometime in the future, i was wandering how easily or difficult it is to adapt these to a 1996 rsstd? what other parts would i need to purchase or look for used, and what other tech tips will i need to know? any and all input will be appreciated. i know that this enhancement is supposed to make a major difference, and if i keep the bike, which i probably will, i will try to do this task. thanks, Mark.

After much to-do, I finally settled on a Garmin C580. Got a good deal ( I think) at ~$183 new in the box..not refurbed. I just couldn't bring myself to pay 2-3 times that for a Zumo. (or any of the other m/c specific units) Bought the appropriate RAM mount components to swap the unit back & forth between bikes and over to the truck on occasion. I still have to add aux power outlets to both bikes for the pwr plug (It's got some integral gizmo for MSNdirect). OK....yada, yada, yada....bluetooth...blah, blah, blah and so on! Now, to the point! The C580 (not being a motorcycle friendly unit) has a pop-on, pop-off ball-socket on the back, that I wouldn't want to trust to resist a sharp bump in the road and not be rolling down the road after me at 60mph or so. I recall seeing some GPS post recommending tethering GPS units to avoid such an incident as I described above. The question is ....HOW? So, here I am.....asking for opinions or recommendations/ideas as to tethering solutions. I have a couple of ideas, but I'd like you folks input before I decide what I'm going to do. How'd you do yours (if you did), or maybe one you saw that was neat or whatever!!! Thanks for any input!!!!

I'm wondering if anyone could help. New member as of last week and not really computer savy. I need to buy a pair of clear glasses for riding home later than we should. We always seem to ride too late and my eyesight isn't the best, when it's dusk. I would like a pair that the wind can't get through the sides. Appreciate any input, otherwise I'm going to have to start riding with the hubby and I'd just as soon keep driving my own bike. Thanks!

Ok folks, I ran into what I feel are the ultimate wiring diagrams for bikes. Please go to www.kojaycat.com and do some reading. Currently they do not offer diagrams for Ventures. However Colin would be interested in working with us to make them for all needed Venture series. I need to see what the the club input is on this idea. I figure about $30 to $40 per set U.S. Might be less. The 1500 Wing set is right in that range. We have a sister club in the U.K. that would probably be interested. I will send them the same message. We might need to help with pictures of components etc. JB

Hi everyone, new guy here. I'm VERRRYYYY interested in buying an 07 or 08 RSV. My question to you is.... After owning one and knowing what you know now about the bike (problems,reliability,qualitiy,etc...) would you do it again?? If you would/woud'nt...why/why not? I'd really like to know of any inherent problems before jumping in w/both feet (and a bunch of money) Thanks for your input everyone.

Ok, I talked to Bill Morphy who builds the Mic-mutes. He says I have microphonics!!!! This is not life threatning , nor will I need antibiotics. But I'm P.O.'d nonetheless. This is a follow up thread to the mic-mute one I did a couple days ago. I did a test in the garage. Turn the key to accessory, leave motor off, turned on the stereo, turned down the sound of the music audio to zero. Turned the IC up to 20 with helmet plugged in and then toggled the PTT. The mic would mute but there was still a ton of white noise (background noise, static, whatever you want to call it) Would those of you with mic-mutes try this test and tell me if you have this same noise. I'm about ready to get ahold of Yamaha mothership if my case is unique and ask about warranty replacement. Your help with this test would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to your input. P.S. if your interested......look up "microphonics" under google or more bike specific to a "goldwing microphonics" search. Thanks for your input. Jim
