The trunk box on my 2010 suddenly will not open more than about 4 inches. It seems like i is getting hung up on the support rod. Any ideas?

Here it is in a nutshell. One time I will get on and the compressor will start as soon as I turn the key, but adding very little air the the suspension. The next time I turn on the key it dumps the air. Any ideas? This is getting very frustrating. Oh yea, the display shows either 8.8 or 0 all the time it is on. Shaun

Hi folks, looking fo some ideas on how to secure my venture in the back of a big u-haul. I will not have time to ride it up to the northeast, but I am drivinga big u-haul up. There is no tie-downs on the floor to secure to, there is tie-downs on the sides but I don't trust em. Seen a few pictures of a ride-on platform that I could put in the back, but they are pretty expensive. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I just picked up my venture not too long ago and am still in the process of getting my motorcycle license and have been doing some work on the bike since I got it. Got a couple of problems that I can't figure out though. The gas guage only works when the bike is near completely full or near empty but nowhere in between, anybody have any ideas why? Also the light on the computer always says the kickstand is down even when it isn't. If I actually put the kickstand down while it is in gear it will run horrible so it is obviously getting the signal so I don't know why the light doesn't go off. The guy that had it before me said they changed the actual sensor that is attached to the kickstand so I don't think it is that but I can't be sure. Once again, if anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. I am new and you have made me feel very welcome and I greatly appreciate it, the tech articles have helped me alot so far, and it feels good to be part of such a tight knit group. Thanks again Brian

This hitch was fitted to my '86 VR when I bought it, and so far I have dismally failed to identify it. Sorry for another one. Picked up an 86 VR and had the issue with the class. I had the board re-soldered and now it illuminates but still is not doing anything. Any ideas on what to do next?

After I did the carb sync, the bike now vibratres quite bad upon hard acceleration in any gear. Any ideas?

I have an '88, 1st gen Venture standard. It did not come from yamy with any sound system. The PO installed a car stereo in the left side of the faring. It is one of the old fashioned ones that mounts in a a rectangular hole with a shaft hole on each side. OK, that is where I am starting from. None of the wiring is present to install the factory stereo and CB. What would be a good CB to put on a bike and where would be a good place to mount it? I am sure that at some point it will get rained on. I would like to be able to adjust the controls while riding. I am not totally opposed to replacing the current stereo as part of this. I'm wide open for ideas.

I seems like everything I do on my 02 RSV I end up with a stuck bolt!! This time it's the back bolt on the right lower. I discovered the left was already damaged after I got that side off. I'm guess the PO had the problems with the bolt on that side. This is one that I some:confused07:how have to get out to change the breather and have acess to the fuse panel. Open to ideas. Right now the bolt just spins either way.

Was working on bike today and got it back together and noticed that the fuel gauge was not working, it was before. any ideas? '86 Venture royal

Well we are trying to get the engine out of my 84 so that we can fix 2nd gear. Right now the problem is that we cannot get the pipes to separate from the collector. Tail pipes are off but the front and rear exhaust pipes just will not come loose. Afraid of breaking the collector and it appears to be in good shape. Any ideas? Is there a trick? I already broke one of the bolts trying to loosen the clamp on one of them. (gonna be looking for a clamp probably) At least that clamp is loose now. :-) -
Has anyone installed lizard lights on their venture? Trying to get starting ideas where to place them for the best chrome and ground effects. I forgot to say on 2010 model. Any ideas would greatly appreciated. Thanks Kisner

Hello, I have searched and read a number of threads and articles on horsepower and was wondering what opinions are on the easiest way to maybe gain a few HP that are easy and don't involve a lot of expense or time. Any ideas would be helpful. Air cleaner, mufflers, etc. Thank you in advance Chris in Red Deer

A friend of mine has this bike, and the gas tank "collapsed inward" - then mostly popped back out - but there is still a visiable dent of there. Does anyone know if a) a dent repair place can fix that type of thing (being it is a gas tank would that hurt the integrity of the tank) - b) is that gas tank interchangable with another STAR model gas tank (I believe it is the smaller 3.8 gallon tank). I have looked on EBAY for her, only couple of scratched up tanks, just trying to gather couple of ideas. Sorry, at the moment, I don't have a picture of this problem. Any ideas / suggestions would be helpful - thank you in advance.

This is my first "big" bike so I figured I need a trailer just to be official! I picked up this Harbor Freight trailer from a guy on CL for $100...Hopefully over the next several months I'll fix it up and customize it...If all goes well, I'll have a good trailer ready for the summer. My plans are to do something "different" and make it a truly custom trailer, not just throw car topper on it and call it good...we will see how much time I have...I'll keep everyone posted along the way if I can. Suggestions and recommendations are always welcome. I have some ideas of the "look" I want, but if you have any neat ideas, throw them out, it might give me more ideas.

Hello all. This would be my first real post here. Turns out I need some parts or advice. What a way to start off, heh? I have a 83 VR. Mk1. (Is that correct?) Two of the carb slides are giving me issues. It seems that they have separated. On one, the plastic slide has broken apart. The other was intact, so I just pressed it back together. Should I worry about the reassembled one? Is gluing the other back together feasible? I have all the parts. I have gathered these are quite expensive, and not that common. If I have to pay dealer prices, just two would be almost what I paid for the bike! The breaks look clean and very recent. Any ideas how they broke? Did I cause this? Funny thing is, I had her running before tearing into the carbs. Would not idle, but ran none the less. She sat for a couple of years non-running before I came along. Should I post a WTB somewhere? I need some ideas on a safe system to lift my 2008 Venture for oil changes, cleaning, etc. Any ideas will be welcomed. I have a jack I used on my HD Heritage, but there are too many obstacles under the 2008 Venture to lift the bike evenly. I believe I will have to fabricate a jig to attach to the lift I currently have. Any ideas??

Have an 05 RSTD and the front tire is ready to be replaced. I was told to replace the 150 with a 130 and will experience better handling. As with most things there are trade off. Would greatly appreciate your ideas. Thanks in advance Norm

Discovered the other day that my flashers only work on the left side. All turn lights work on right side and left side but when I turn on only the flashers only the left sides work. Any ideas?

I ride my bike every week (2004 RSV); in the last couple of months my battery has lost juice and won't crank. As we speak I have it on low charge. Advance has checked the battery and says it just needs charging and nothing is wrong with the battery itself. The battery is two plus years old. Any ideas out there. When I crank up today I will have jumper cables with me but that ain't the solution.

frankd's post has got me a little spooked about this so I'm going to run it up the flag pole for ideas. My 03 roadstar has developed a front end vibration that feels almost like a grinding. It's only there when the bike is straight up and moving around 30 mph. If I lean at all, the vibration goes away. I recently put on new Pirelli tires, about 300 miles before the vibration started. In looking at the tire I don't see anything obvious that would cause it. I checked all the calipers and the axle when I changed the tire. I'm concerned that something is going bad in the wheel. It seems like it's getting worse, but I may just be looking for it. Any ideas?

I love my coffee and buy my own beans and grind them, when I go on my bike trip the end of Sept I will be camping every night and was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about a camping coffee pot. When I was younger I had a percolator but I know things must have evolved since then.
