  1. So just purchased a new Aluma MCT and was wondering if anyone could could tell me where to get a swivell hitch to fit it. I,ll need to get a spare, which I can do locally but not sure where to get the swivell hitch and wiring harness. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. take a look at this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-VENTURE-ROYALE-1300cc-Beautiful_W0QQitemZ140298791821QQihZ004QQcategoryZ6718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Looks like this bike has an extra tank mounted on a trailer hitch? Anybody ever seen anything like this? Would the fuel pump be able to draw from that tank?
  3. I removed this 1st Gen Rear Bumper and Trailer Hitch from my 1985 VR. It should fit 1983 thru 1985, not sure about 1986 up. The hitch attaches to the bumper and I do not think it can be used alone. The picture is before I removed it and it is very dirty. I will be cleaning it up and add more pictures when the outside air temp goes above 45 degrees F. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o318/GaryZ_photos/YamahaVenture01b.jpg Asking $250 or will consider trade for: * Black seat in good condition * Vmax cams in good condition * other?
  4. Does a Markland hitch off an 84 fit on a 1987 VR? There is an 84 takeoff on eBay and I have been looking for a hitch for my 87. Anybody have one they want to sell? Thanks
  5. I was wondering if anyone has towed their RSV behind their vehicle with a motorcycle hitch hauler? Can my RSV be towed by one of these for 1000 miles? Are they safe? Thanks and God Bless. Danny
  6. Hi all I am looking for a venturedad hitch but lost his info. can anybody help? Thanks Chuck:bang head:
  7. I saw this and thought this could be a nice present to myself. Trouble is, I would need to buy everthing. I let the hitch go with my '99 when I sold it. MIKE aka Uturn
  8. Does anyone know if an 86 venture trailer hitch will bolt to an 84 venture? TOM
  9. I am going to build my own trailer hitch. Can someone explain (or better-pictures) where to mount the hitch? Looks like the rear subframe for rear mounting point will work, but where should the front mounts be? Are the saddlebag mounting frames strong enough? Thanks
  10. As a result of all the great post, I bought a set of the Kuryakyn longhorn highway pegs. They are amazing. Instant and I do mean instant relief from the engine heat. The wind then blows up my legs and I can feel it on my chest. Even my wife can feel the difference as there is more air flow for her as well. Now I have to decide on buying a back rest or trailer hitch next. I saw a golf club rack on one of the recommended sites that I would love to get if I get a hitch.
  11. I am preparing a "needs" list for my rebuild of my 87 this winter. I'm looking for a hitch. If any one out there has one to spare at a reasonable cost-- please let me know. Also if anyone knows where to get a master rebuild kit (rings, gaskets, etc.) please chime in.
  12. I am trying to find a trailer hitch or plans for one for a 1984 Venture Royale I contacted Hitch Doc and they don't make them for my year if anyone can steer me in the right direction. TOM
  13. Any interest in 1st Gen trailer hitches ? Today a welder friend of mine stopped in to drop off a seat pan from a '54 and '55 Harley Davidson Hummer for me to recover during the winter months as he is restoring . He noticed that I had a Markland trailer hitch laying around the shop (Muffinman's hitch) and he mentioned if I could gather enough interest in them , he could make them for around $100.00 each . No chrome , nor powder coating , just plain bare metal . This welder friend of mine is one top notch welder and specializes in fabricating trailers and hitches . He is also a biker as well . I didn't think of it till later , was to ask him to make receiver hitches out of them . But I am sure it is doable . There are several Powder coaters around in my neighborhood .I could take the hitch I have in possession to inquire the cost to have them powder coated as well . Any interest ? BEER30
  14. I have had numerous questions "will it fit?" from my ebay listing The hitch is off of a 87 Venture Royale...what years will the hitch fit correctly? I think it should fit 86 thru 93 is that correct? Thanks in advance Dave
  15. Does antone have any idea what the weight rating on a Markland hitch is?
  16. I am getting set up for trailering and looking for a hitch for my 2007 RSV. The Diamond R hitch looks like a good product. Is this a good choice? I am wondering if it is easy to remove the drawbar and when the drawbar is removed is the hitch essentially hidden. Any advice appreciated. Jim
  17. Anyone know where I can get a template or a hitch for my 86 vr??
  18. As you can see, I have the 87 for sale now. (I am no electrician) and Lonestar Medic found me a beautiful 86. But this one has the hitch on it. I don't plan on towing but thought it probably doesn't increase the sale price on the old bike. Is it worth the time to pull it off just in case, or give it up?
  19. well i know ive been slow on getting my trailer hooked up but i got the wiring done today i just got to go to a buddy shop to get the rest of the hitch drilled out and a tag tomorrow i may take it around with me on my tour of the USA:banana:
  20. Hello everyone, Man do I have a lot of questions for all of you. My first one today is about towing a trailer behind my bike. I've never done it before and am a little concerned after reading about the rider from Canada who lost control of his bike and trailer. My new bike just doesn't seem to have the storage space as my old Electra Glide so I do need the extra space. Will the Venture be okay to tow with? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Where can I buy a hitch? Thanks Josh
  21. ...do you pick up hitch hikers? do you make them wear a helmet? What if they fall asleep on the bike? What if they don't want to get off? Would you take them across an international border? I picked up this guy in Ohio, thought I heard him say something about wanting to go to Quebec but I don't understand french. He looked like he was enjoying the ride so I let him stay on; and the border guard didn't even ask him any questions!! (at least they are getting smaller and aren't breaking my air dam)
  22. Well I opened the wallet and bought an aluma MCT trailer for the bike today. Looked through the old posts and found a company called MCHITCH that has the hitch for a 2006 Venture and also a wiring harness. Has anybody done business with them or do you know of a better dealer. Thanks in advance. Kenw
  23. What aftermarket supplier makes a rack to fit in the hitch on an RSV? I've seen them out there and I know some folks have made their own. I won't be making my own because I'm not talented enough :crying:so unless someone jumps up and volunteer to make me one:thumbsup: I'm out searching. Any help in the way of supplier links would be appreciated. Thanks,
  24. What's the best recommended trailer hitch for a 2006 Venture? In real world situations, how much can you safely pull with these bikes, how much tongue weight etc? I've always found the books will tell you one thing but real world experience say something else. I'm always one to err on the side of caution and safety but need to know the max values for those 'just in case' situations. Cheers
