  4. Had a nice ride home across the mountains, took a little over an hour. Laura just yelled down at me to come help unload everything. What an absolutely super bunch of folks. This was another great get together in Asheville and it seemed everyone had a great time. We had great food, a little rain, great rides with LOTS of twisties, a little rain, great visiting around the campsite, a little rain and more good food and the loudest frogs in the lilly pond I have ever heard. I was not sure at first how many were going to be able to show up, but we had a bunch of people and bikes there. I will check back later and hope I can get the pictures out of the camera. Thanks everyone for helping Laura and me have such a great time!!! RandyA

  8. Beth and I are home from MD, just one close call on the way back to the motel in Westlake Saturday night, damn cagers! The stebel air horn did it's job and kept us safe! Many, many thanks to Don and Eileen for being such gracious hosts. To ALL who worked tirelessly on the bikes, WOW! Words cannot do justice! We met an incredible number of people, friends, family.......it's great now to be able to put faces to names here on the site. Already wore my new T-shirt...and yes, the XL does fit! Garry and Mary, thanks so much for your hospitality, the shade, chairs, food and refreshments are all very much appreciated. Ian and Pat, looking forward to the six of us getting together for a barbeque and maybe planning something a little larger??? I'll post what pics we have later, I have to work midnites tonight, so it's off to bed for a bit before I go and pound salt.....again! There's always a bed and a garage with tools for the "family" that has adopted us! randy and beth:happy34:

  10. Took a 200 mile ride today with members Hoffy and Buffalo Bodnar....well, the diet started off ok with a couple of turkey dogs from the grill. then it went down hill from there...we ended up at one of my favorite restaurants in LeRoy ny..bad food...bad... I mean good food , just bad for my diet..then that d@#m Hoffy forced me to have desert...this is after he messed up our meeting place in the am and I was forced to buy a piece of cheesecake at another of my favorite eateries while waiting for him to arrive ...He missed our place to meet by 45 miles.......Then after only thirty minutes in the saddle, he and his sidekick (BUFFALO BODNAR) FORCED me to stop for ICE CREAM.......WHOOOOO, I need friends who won't shove all that fatty food down my throat..... its all your fault guys if I gain any weight before MD...yeah,... its all your fault..and thats the story I'm sticking with....:fnd_(16):
  11. I've been thinking about MD this year. Last year Don and Eileen ordered food for the whole gang that came. I know they had the jar out and I think Don said it came out even for him. But since he's going through this treatment for cancer I have been thinking maybe we can take care of the food this year. All of us can pay so much towards the food and then Don won't have to worry about it. If need be one of us can take care of ordering the food for the day. I'm just thinking of how to make this an easier event for the Boss and his wife. I knew Don wouldn't cancel MD unless he really had to. So I waited and I've talked with a couple of other folks on the site about this. Not sure how we can make it easier for Don but I'm sure with this group we can come up with a plan that will work. I haven't asked Don before I started this thread. Maybe I should have, but knowing Don he'd have said not to worry about it. We could even just all go out to eat though that might get a bit crazy with the size group we'll be having. So let me know what you think folks. I'm hoping not to make anyone mad just trying to find a way to make it easier for Don and Eileen. Margaret
  12. just a reminder to get your registrations in as soon as you can for the 09 rally. not being pushy, i just keep remembering black owls advise. don't let the folks forget. cindy has the t-shirts to order and name pins to make and we have to figure on the food. this is going to be the big one so, we want to get it right for all the folks. thanks bill
  13. just, wanting to let anyone that has nothing to do may 7th, 8th, and 9th. to check out the st. charles meet under meet and eats on the sticky at the top.. i'm starting to buy the food and want to get an estimate on who plans to attend. so far it looks like a great turn out. for those that haven't checked in on the meet and eat thread, let me know. i hate to run out of beer, soda, and food. motels and details are all there. hope to see you there. bill
  14. Went to the Petsmart to purchase dog food and almost $hit. We have a 170-180 lb Newfoundland Dog. We have been feeding him Authority dog food and purchase a 40 lb bag about once a month. Tonight I walked in and walked out, then had to go back pay. The last bag I bought a month ago was 32.99 and today it was 45.99 not including the 13% taxes. Eukanuba was 75.99 (plus tax) for a 40 lb bag. I had to ask the lady at the desk how they can justify a (39.4%) increase. She smiled and continued to smile as she said Rice and corn have gone up (Not sure how much this inrease was) Transportation costs (Price a barrel is 1/3 the cost it was a year ago) Petcetara went backrupt (purchased by Petsmart) People are losing their jobs (Not sure how this has anything to do with the increase) and do not forget everything we purchase will be getting the new Ontario Harmony tax of 13% (which has always been part of purchasing dog food). I wanted to ask her to explain her answers but I just looked at her smiling face and knew I would be wasting my time. I feel sorry for the pets and the Humane Societies as people stop adopting pets. Or worse off people giveing them up, in tough times. Brad
  15. This is an open invitation to all members not just Ga. members. Our own Eck and his wife Konnie are coming to the Atlanta area this weekend and we are planning on getting together for an evening of food and fun. Bring your wife, or significant other or come alone, come on your bike, in your cage, however you want. We will be meeting at Smokey Bones BBQ in Peachtree City located at 100 Market Place Blvd,Peachtree City, Ga. We will be meeting there between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. Saturday, April 4,2009. If you havent met Eck, this is your chance to do so, and maybe he will regail us with his experience with the Blue Mustang. Come on out for some good company and good food. Oh, just to let you know Eck is coming over this way looking at a replacement bike for his Liquid Silver. We have to persuade him not to buy a HD........... Map to Smokey Bones .
  16. We were talking on chat last night about the Meet and Eat tomorrow in SC. and said what if we listed the favorite or best restaurants in a directory form listing the type of food, price range and the location of the restaurants across the country. So what do you think, or would it be a waste of time to do. Yama Mama
  17. got a couple of requests from the members. since the riding season is approaching. i need to ask the members to first start thinking about registering for the international rally, so cinderella can get the orders together for the t-shirts, and since she has graciously took on the task of making the name buttons, so she doesn't get backed up on that. we will also have to let the hub know about what to expect so they can figure the food for the big dinner which they are catering. i also would like to get a rough count for the attendees for my st. charles meet in may, so i can figure the food etc. not trying to pressure anyone, cuz i know the economy is affecting many of us. but if you have an idea that you are planning on comming please let us know. thanks, bill ,and the planning committee.

    Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to all who showed up at the Houston meet and eat in Chapel Hill. Had a great time, met a lot of new friends, had good food, and fellowship. Need to get the next one planned. Don H.
  19. I'm sure everyone has really missed me on the site lately. Well maybe not. Anyway, it's day eight without any electricity which means no heat and no lights in N.E. Arkansas. Prospect isn't good for the next few days either. I just wanted you all to think about me as you sit in your warm living rooms, watching your wide screen T.V.'s, and snacking on junk food. But I have food, a steady job, roof over my head, and INSULATED overalls. What more do I need.
  20. Heads up Hoston! Sat. 10th, meet and eat at Bevers Kitchen on Main St. in Chapel Hill 11:00 A. M. Trying to find a central meeting point then ride for about 1 1/2-2 hrs then eat. Or mayby leave it up to individuals to get there however they want and meet at scheduled time to eat. Bevers Kitchen is north of 290 at the Shell station on right like you were heading to Austin. Turn right at Shell station go about 1 1/2 - 2 blks. Bevers Kitchen on left across from old church. Parking is gravel. Food is GREAT, and prices are very reasonable. Hope to see a big bunch of us there. If weather is bad, cage it, just come for good food and fellowship. Will hopefully have something firmed up on ride end of it tonite and will post info. Don H.
  21. Didn't take too many so it won't take long. Too busy eating the good food. http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/VB%20Meet%20and%20Eat/
  22. i know you all are getting tired of my 09 up dates, but we have been getting alot of pm's from members asking good questions. so rather than answer each one individually, i thought i would just put their questions and my answers out there for all the members. the latest question is what kind of events do we have scheduled. here is what we have so far. lots of planned and mapped out group rides. biker skill games, vendors on site, plenty of food including a catered final meal followed by a party still in the planning, just added today by yours truly, a 4 hour maintenence morning for the guys to talk tech and work on each others bikes with coffee and donuts. the gals that get up that early can come to. it will be from 6am, to 10 am. one day. this is what we have so far. we are still open for suggestions. please register as soon as possible to help us figure on the attendees, and make it easier for cindy to figure on the tshirts, rosebud on the name tags, and i can keep the hub up to date on how many they will have to provide food for. we are way ahead on planning this meet and i want to keep it that way so we can make it picture perfect. thanks to all the members who have made good suggestions, and offered their help in the planning. what a great bunch of members we have. snarley bill :clap2:

    Deer

Food for thought; there are a lot of deer on the road this year here in central Ky. I don't know how many deer hunters we have on here, but anyone who has interest in this sport could also help manage the population. We as humans have built their habitat out of existence, and they have to eat, so they go to road sides, gardens, etc. They are also an excellent food source when prepared right, and cannot be distinguished from beef. We all need to do our part, this could have impact on safety, insurance rates, and other areas. I understand that hunting is not for everyone, but we are losing hunters at an alarming rate, because kids are not being exposed to it. It is a proven fact that kids involved in outdoor activities do better in school, and stay out of trouble more. just something to consider and reflect on
