  1. This has been an issue for me since I purchased the bike in feb of 2011. the seat is just unbearable. I was planning on sending it to Butler to have it modded but the owner before me made some mods to the seat pan. Time has come( Tax return and bonus season) to set my sights on an aftermarket seat that will be comfortable for my wife and I. We dont do extensive trips but we dont want to hurts after 100 miles. I would like to ride 400 and not think twice about riding again the following day. Id liek some pros and cons from those that have Mustang, Corbin, Ultimate and although russel day long doesnt have one currently for the 96 rstc Id still like some feedback as it is now I am turning away from corbin because I have sat on a few and the seat I found very hard, although no soreness. i still would like someting a lil plush.
  2. Most Canadians will recognize Rick Mercer as the CBC's host that visits everywhere in Canada taking a humourous and interesting look at us Canucks doing the strange things in our day to day lives. He was in town about 2 weeks ago for the Canada Western Agribition, (Canada's Largest Livstock Show) and this is his time spent learning about the cattle industry. http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows/The_Rick_Mercer_Report/1233563683/ID=2174348192 Brian
  3. Just got done moving to a bigger place, in the past whenever I moved I'd rent a big u-haul and move everything in one load, one day and done. Well since I was only moving about a 1/2 mile away I decided to take the seats out of my mini-van and use it. 99Silver and Cap'n Quirk came over with Gary's trailer and helped move the big stuff, I of course thanked them and said "I can get the rest myself. Bad back and knees I was ready to go with the help of my 13 year old Daughter (who really did help a lot). Then it happened, first it started raining, the temperature started dropping, rain turned to sleet and the sleet turned to snow and everything that was wet turned to ice. So the move turned into a 3 day battle with the elements and left me so sick I'm living on NyQuil and the only time I get up is to make a mad dash to the bathroom. I vow to never move again until I can afford to move South where I will never see this white stuff again.
  4. Happy Birthday Lonna!!! Have a Great day!!
  5. My boy DaKota born on Oct 16, 2011. Sorry it took so long to post, but I know the rules about pictures. Check out the scales. Kitty did a great job on that day, all natural, no drugs or cuts ! Kitty was on her bike 10 days after delivery. Still looking for a good deal on a used hannigan 2+2!
  6. It was a great day to get out and ride. Sunshine and temperature in the mid 60's and sure was nice to feel the wind in my toes....
  7. Just saying Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here a day early. This year and last we have had to celebrate it on a Wed since the Post Office forces its employees to work their holidays. Jean and I are both employees and both are off tue/wed. So, while I have enough seniority to have the day off, poor wife does not. Kids are coming over as well as a few friends tonight at 5. Got a Copelands fried turkey coming soon. I made my world famous creamed potatoes and italian stuffing with sausage. And lets not forget the heavily candied yams coated with melted marshmallows. So, enjoy your Thanksgiving day with family and friends tomorrow, or tonight if thats the case.
  8. What a week - Last Wednesday Linda and I went to Canajoharie NY, I had one of those throat tickles. No problem - just a halls or two . Thursday we returned with 1100 lbs of Spaghetti sauce boxed up in the bed of the truck. just East of Buffalo we ran into a little rain that turned into a white out and the road cleared up for maybe 2 miles. Then more snow and another white out but this time it was hail. Scared the crap outta me ! The 2 hour drive from Buffalo turned out to be the drive from - well, you know where. Started coughing during the hail - Friday I called the Dr. to get my "cold" treated. Nobody available. Take something and drink lottsa liquids. OK - Saturday - spent the entire day in my recliner with a blanket and in half a stupor. Sunday at 12:15 Linda called, somebody rear ended me. Off I went. Got back home and back in the recliner with my blankie Monday - 11:20, Dr. said GHeeeeez never seen a throat that red and inflamed. Spent the rest of the day in the recliner with my blankie Tuesday - still got my blankie but this time some drugs and Sangria. Insurance called, get car fixed, we mail you a check and if it costs more have the body shop let us know. Can't wait for Wednesday - If we're lucky, we'll get her car back on the 5th of Dec. - the day before we leave for Australia
  9. On Oct. 29th I ordered some parts online and waited and waited. Their add said 6 to 10 bussiness days for shipping. After waiting for 18 days and no parts I sent them an e-mail and the reply I got was to check the terms and conditions. Well I sent e-mail #2 and reminded them what their terms and conditions read. Got back same reply. I tried calling them but the # that is on the add is one that you have to have a code to dial to talk to a human. Which they don't give out in their add. So I decided to look on google earth to see if there was something that they were hiding. Sure enough, they were a dealership and they had a different phone number on the add that is online for the store. I gave it a try and actually got an answer. It was the sales desk and they did some checking and found that my parts were there and should have been sent to me over a week ago. The guy told me that the parts mgr wasn't there but would have him call me back the next day. No phone call. But, I got an e-mail last night stating that my parts would be shipped on Monday 2 day air. If not for google earth I would still be trying to figure out which headhunter (er... Venturerider) to send after them.
  10. OK folks, I'm trying to set a date for Maintenance Day. I always have to squeeze it in between company meetings, trade shows, etc. At this time, I'm looking at Saturday June 2nd. There will always be those who have conflicts on whatever date I pick but so far, this seems like the best date. I'm just putting it up for your comments.
  11. I would like to take a second to day and say thank you to all the Veterans out there from where ever you may be from and how and where ever you may have served. We and our families are safe and free because of you and those that gave their lives for us. It is pouting rain in my city, I am going to go get dressed warm and head to our local Cenotaph and watch the military parade into our town. I will remember my father and his brothers that all served time in Europe during WWII. I will remember my mother that went to work at the ship yard to help build the ships my father served on for 25 years. I will think of how lucky I have been to have had so many give so much for me to be free. Thank you This from my friend Calvin's website: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.barkingmadspeedshop.com%2F2011%2F11%2Fnovember-11-remembrance-day.html%3Fspref%3Dfb&h=NAQG10n1WAQEzwSKd8hzWGCLWdXFKnTOonhiDFnofD4yCHQ

  13. One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So ... Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it! Have a garbage-free day!
  14. If anyone would like to give us a hand, Gary and I will be having a Pork in the Pines work day at his place to get ready for next year. The primary project will be fabricating a new pig roaster plus assorted odd jobs. So, if you are free (or at least reasonable) on Saturday, October 29th, we could sure use your help. Russell
  15. Hope everybody has a great day...
  16. OK, I believe I am going to take a ride from central Illinois to Key West Florida. I will be going via Nashville, Atlanta, Stopping in Gainesville FL for a few days to visit my neice and a couple of friends then off to Fort Myers to see my Brother. Then down to Key West for a day or so and then back up the east side of FloridaStopping in Orlando to visit a cousin. Then the chilly ride on home. Just thought if anyone wanted to ride along on the route either for a few days or just the day let me know (or the whole trip) and I will get my trip all planned out and let you know when I will be in your area. I would also change my route some if there are people who want to ride, I will stop and pick you up along the way. Rick
  17. Patti and I wish you a very happy birthday! Hope you have a great day. Don
  18. Happy birthday SkyDoc. Even though you where picking on me for riding a hond GW to Big Toms rally Have a great day today Bull463:thumbsup:
  19. Just wanted to share my recent experience w/ riding all day. I've had my 04 RSMV for about a month now and done a few 150-200 mi days. Based on that I was execting the outcome of an all day to be good. Well.... I just took some folks to Daytona and back. We covered appx 1500 mi's, the last day being an all day of about 550mi. I've been working my way up to a full touring bike and just moved to the RSV from a Roadstar. The R* would've beat me up pretty good on this trip. The Venture was a DREAM. I had no comfort or performance issues whatsoever. Rode 11hr's on Sunday with a few short gas breaks and when I got home I felt like I could do an another 11hrs with no trouble. The Venture came with Russell All-Day seats that were custom made for the PO. Luckily he and I are of similar build. The seat felt strange when I first got on it but now I love it. Guess that's why the call them "all day".
  20. Earlier, I posted about a rattle I could not tell if it was the collector or something in the bottom of the engine. I had another collector and finally got it on today and when I cranked it up, no more rattle. So, with it being a beautiful sunny day at about 65 degrees, I just had to go for a little ride. The vision in my right eye is getting a little more clear every day in the area that has filled with fluid. Right now the fluid line is about one third from the bottom of my eye, or since everything is upside down in an eye, about two thirds full. Also, the double vision has gone away as things are now lining up and I am having more binocular vision, therefore having better depth of field. So, I figured if I was real careful and did not put myself in any position where I had to manhandle the bike, I would be OK. I took about a 20 mile ride down through the country and it really did feel good. RandyA

  25. Viet Nam Veteran Statistics A little history most people will never know. Interesting Veterans Statistics off the Vietnam Memorial Wall "Carved on these walls is the story of America , of a continuing quest to preserve both Democracy and decency, and to protect a national treasure that we call the American dream." ~President George Bush SOMETHING to think about - Most of the surviving Parents are now Deceased. There are 58,267 names now listed on that polished black wall, including those added in 2010. The names are arranged in the order in which they were taken from us by date and within each date the names are alphabetized. It is hard to believe it is 36 years since the last casualties. Beginning at the apex on panel 1E and going out to the end of the East wall, appearing to recede into the earth (numbered 70E - May 25, 1968), then resuming at the end of the West wall, as the wall emerges from the earth (numbered 70W - continuing May 25, 1968) and ending with a date in 1975. Thus the war's beginning and end meet. The war is complete, coming full circle, yet broken by the earth that bounds the angle's open side and contained within the earth itself. The first known casualty was Richard B. Fitzgibbon, of North Weymouth , Mass. Listed by the U.S. Department of Defense as having been killed on June 8, 1956. His name is listed on the Wall with that of his son, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Richard B. Fitzgibbon III, who was killed on Sept. 7, 1965. · There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall. · 39,996 on the Wall were just 22 or younger. · 8,283 were just 19 years old. The largest age group, 33,103 were 18 years old. · 12 soldiers on the Wall were 17 years old. · 5 soldiers on the Wall were 16 years old. · One soldier, PFC Dan Bullock was 15 years old. · 997 soldiers were killed on their first day in Vietnam . · 1,448 soldiers were killed on their last day in Vietnam . · 31 sets of brothers are on the Wall. · Thirty one sets of parents lost two of their sons. · 54 soldiers on attended Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia . I wonder why so many from one school. · 8 Women are on the Wall. Nursing the wounded. · 244 soldiers were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War; 153 of them are on the Wall. · Beallsville, Ohio with a population of 475 lost 6 of her sons. · West Virginia had the highest casualty rate per capita in the nation. There are 711 West Virginians on the Wall. · The Marines of Morenci - They led some of the scrappiest high school football and basketball teams that the little Arizona copper town of Morenci (pop. 5,058) had ever known and cheered. They enjoyed roaring beer busts. In quieter moments, they rode horses along the Coronado Trail, stalked deer in the Apache National Forest . And in the patriotic camaraderie typical of Morenci's mining families, the nine graduates of Morenci High enlisted as a group in the Marine Corps. Their service began on Independence Day, 1966. Only 3 returned home. · The Buddies of Midvale - LeRoy Tafoya, Jimmy Martinez, Tom Gonzales were all boyhood friends and lived on three consecutive streets in Midvale, Utah on Fifth, Sixth and Seventh avenues. They lived only a few yards apart. They played ball at the adjacent sandlot ball field. And they all went to Vietnam . In a span of 16 dark days in late 1967, all three would be killed. LeRoy was killed on Wednesday, Nov. 22, the fourth anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Jimmy died less than 24 hours later on Thanksgiving Day. Tom was shot dead assaulting the enemy on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. · The most casualty deaths for a single day was on January 31, 1968 ~ 245 deaths. · The most casualty deaths for a single month was May 1968 - 2,415 casualties were incurred. For most Americans who read this they will only see the numbers that the Vietnam War created. To those of us who survived the war, and to the families of those who did not, we see the faces, we feel the pain that these numbers created. We are, until we too pass away, haunted with these numbers, because they were our friends, fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters. There are no noble wars, just noble warriors. Please pass this on to those who served during this time, and those who DO Care.
