  1. Bought a 12 Volt power adapter from Cycle Gear for 10 bucks and I think I will buy a couple more. I took the handle bar mount off and made the hole for the acc socket below the seat just a little bigger. For power I cut the factory plug off the acc wire, soldered them together and it works great. http://www.cyclegear.com/_static/webupload/730/2_web1007420_3.jpg http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product/12_volt_power_adapter/web1007420#pr-header-web1007420
  2. Question for you guys, I git a hose leaking on me and wondering where I should be looking to find, is this an ebayer or custom shop type fix or head to the cycle yard and see what I can find . Thanks bags 84 VR 120k brought back from the dead.
  3. Was in San Francisco during Christmas 2011 and saw this Bike. Just sharing.
  4. Anyone had experience with the big mirrors from Harber's cycle.?
  5. Recycle - Re-use I have come to the end of my Cycle Canada subscription and I have 5 months (I think Nov 2010 - March 2011) kicking around. Would anyone be intersted in these? I'd prefer to NOT have to mail them. Maybe someone nearby, we could meet? I presume it has to be a Canuck as the magazines are written in Canadian
  6. I paid a horrible amount of money for this edition of Cycle Magazine, and I am happy to share the interesting bits. I have uploaded the full size images of all the following pics, and they are clear and legible. Any problems and I have the original pages. Lots of it is interesting, but the gas consumption over the trip was 40.6 mpg. That is with a single rider, carrying 20lbs of gear. The gas in 1988 had no ethanol and we should, I think, expect around 1.5mpg poorer with E10. There may be other factors .... add comments So high 30s seems to be about right for one-up, fairly spirited riding. Anyone struggling to read these .... The original images are much bigger, and easy to read. Try downloading these from Photobucket, and if it's still a problem I can send copies of the originals. Enjoy. http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0646.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0647.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0650.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0653.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0656.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0659.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0665.jpg http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/Cycle%20Road%20Test/IMG_0668.jpg
  7. Anyone know of a source for new piston rings for an 83 venture 1200. Doing 2nd gear teardown. Figured with 78000mi and a 90psi cylinder, I'd replace rings as long as the engine is out. Cycle Design had all parts but rings. I see on other sites rings are listed as discontinued.
  8. The rumor on the Northwest Arkansas part of Advriders is that Cycle Gadgets is closing down. This link is to what they have left and are selling on Ebay http://shop.ebay.com/cyclegadgets/m....1.c0.m14.l1514
  9. Anyone have any luck or problems with Pin Wall cycle on Ebay? Sent them 2 emails asking about the condition of a set of upper fork covers before I ordered them and never got a response back. Not a good way to do business in my opinion.
  10. I just received mailing in today's mail announcing going out of business auction for Chicago Cycle, Inc. in Lincolnwood, IL. Auction is this Saturday, Oct. 30th beginning at 10:00 am. Preview is Friday. Chicago Cycle is (was) a very large dealership, with a primary focus toward the sportbike community, but then again, aren't they all. I am surprised by this move, as Chgo cycle has always been a prominent sponsor of the annual International Cycle Show in Chgo. This link should get you there. http://www.mikepetersonauctioneers.com/auction.php?auction_id=1072 Mike Peterson runs a pretty good auction, however, I am not sure if internet bidding is offered this time. I expect there will be a large volume of helmets, jackets, rain gear and other apparel. You may be able to get a good deal on something you need. I got a good deal on some J&M headsets at the Chgo. Sports & Cycle (different company) auction last year.
  11. anyone from houston been to the texas cycle chrome store on northwest freeway? got any goodys for ventures
  12. Saw this today - thought I'd pass it on for those looking for a camera to mount on their cycle: http://www.1saleaday.com/
  13. Emailed National Cycle this morning to find out about the Vstream as I have a buddy that just brags his up all the time. Was bummed to find out that currently they are not working on a V Stream for the Venture. Earliest they said would be 4-6 months; here is hoping that it happens.
  14. I wanted to see if we can help Lowell out on his cycle repairs. As most know Lowell has done a lot for our family and being at most every event we had and being our ambassador for Venturerider.org Please lets show Lowell how much he means to us!!. I would like to help out by giving some money to help him get his cycle fixed. as of right now 300.00 is needed for the cycle repairs but extra is also needed for gas as well to get his bike there in TN for the repairs. Most of us know Lowell is having some health issues which we all know takes $$ to do so I was hoping by doing this for Lowell it would help him out toward his other $$ needs.. I know Lowell will be talking to me later on :whistling:but heck we Love the Guy Freebird, Can we do this for Lowell as he really means a lot me and others here? Buddy
  15. I just bought a 2009 RSV with 2500km on it on July 20th. 1st owner bought it March 3/10 so basically it is a brand new bike. He bought it from Snow City Cycle in Scarborough. When I took it to the shop I normally deal with in Cambridge (Performance Cycle) for the safety I was expecting they'd look at it and say "new bike, nothing wrong" and give me the safety certificate without really looking at it. When the tech came out to take the bike into the shop in I pointed out that the left side saddlebag lid wouldn't open without hitting the passenger intercom connection. He said that the intercom connector was in the wrong location and said he'd try to put it where it should be. So, expecting a quick turn around to get the safety certificate.... turned out to be about 45 minutes because they basically did a PDI (pre-delivery inspection) on it as well ! The list of things assembled incorrectly were : 1) passenger intercom in wrong location (Performance Cycle put it in the right location) 2) passenger intercom wire pinched because of the way it was routed (hopefully not damaged internally but won't know for sure until I get an intercom) 3) screws used in trunk to fasten it to the bike are not the ones that are supposed to be used and are missing the rubber washers 4) chrome piece in front of wind screen has the middle mounting clips broken (tech said that if it isn't put in place correctly it is easy to break the clips) 5) antennas are reversed I called Snow City Cycle and they basically said that since the original owner never mentioned these things to them then the bike was assembled correctly and won't offer to correct the issues (the chrome peice apparently can cost around $200 for the part) Yamaha Canada said that the pdi done by Snow City should have picked up the assembly problems. I said that if the person assembling the bike incorrectly also does the pdi - how would they know they screwed up? They said that it isn't a Yamaha warranty issue and it is soley up to Snow City Cycle if they want to do anything about the issues. I know these aren't major issues (the chrome peice and pinched intercom wires are my main concerns) but has anyone else had issues with Snow City Cycle?
  16. The full synthetic oil? I just changed the oil I could not find any of the recommended around here so I went with the synthetic 10-40 Mobil 1 4 cycle motor oil, did I screw up?
  17. Well... I had an inspiration I saw these Chrome intakes and thought Hmmm ,That will look Good on My 2nd Gen, even if it not for a Yamaha cycle, So this is where I Placed it. Sorry Swifty.. Its not brass Plated
  18. http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html Above is a list of Cycle to car filters... It may be posted already but I thought maybe someone could use it... I posted it somewhere but lost it... Greg
  19. I bought a Tom Tom 920 off Craigslist today for only 80 bucks! Has bluetooth, mp3 player, and much more. I think I did well!!! Now to get a mount for the cycle!!!
  20. I know a while back here, someone had some good knowledge as to what the letters mean in the cycle names. As in XVZ1200DL, GS550L, etc.. I can't find it right now, but if someone knows the thread, can you give me a link to it please? I have an 81 Suzuki GS550L and am curious what the differences between the GS550 and it, and others might be. I'm trying to get it to turn over but when I hit the start button it does nothing. I don't want to be looking at a wiring diagram from a GS550 or GS550LX if it is going to be different than the GS550L. I'm guessing they would be similar enough. But I've been wrong from time to time. Thanks, Bill
  21. I need help dealing with my CLASS system.... When I turn the bike on ACC the Class monitor shows 88, then it cycles to 0, then the E1 appears...it will stay on E1 for about 5 seconds then you'll hear a double "click" where the compressor is and the cycle will start over...back to 88 then to 0 then to E1..repeat etc..If I try to use the system it immediately goes to E1 Any idea what it can be and how to fix...Thanks in advance
  22. A year or so ago Cycle City, the Yamaha dealer closed it doors after being in bussness about 40 years. that really sucked as far as ordering any parts without going a fair piece out of town. Well this week I drive by the local Honda / Kawasaki dealer Burlington Cycle, and don't they have a new Yamaha sign up. Yup they have added Yamaha to there inventory. Burlington Cycle also have been there for many years, and are also great folks to deal with, so I am glad they were able to add the Yamha line to their store.
  23. Anyone seen hand guards for the RSV 2nd Gen other than Hippo or National Cycle? I can't even imagine riding with Hippo for a safety factor to start with.. National Cycle don't seem to have a RSV option.. however I'd seen a 2nd Gen with guard but couldn't find the owner to ask where he got them.. they weren't curved like the NC but angular.. Looking for something to keep the hands a tad warmer..
  24. I ordered (and paid for) the 'Big Mirrors' for my Venture from 'thecycleking' which, as I understand it, represent Harber's Cycle. The purchase was made on ebay and paid with paypal. That was some two months ago. So far there has been no product, no answer to my emails (X4) and they haven't answered their phone (X2). I also completed the ebay resolution procedure which said that my complaint has been filed but that appears to be as far as that goes. It is not my intent to sully this company's reputation, as hopefully this is a unique situation and a simple mistake, but I am not sure of how to proceed next. Their reputation on ebay appears to be stellar. Has anyone here dealt with Harber's Cycle recently? Suggestions? Thanks. Jdix
  25. While at Vogel I was presented with a book written by Peter Egan, titled Leanings. Peter Eagan is a contributing editor of Cycle World, Road & Track and a few other mags. These are stories and articles taken from Cycle World and are very good reading. YammerDan presented me with the book, and stipulated that the book had to be passed on to any member who wanted to read it. I am the 4th to have it according to the signatures in the cover. So if you are interested in reading it just post your request here with your mailing address and I will forward it on to you, when you are finished you must sign it, inside the front cover, and post here for the next person to read. That simple. Dan, you forgot to sign it so I will "forge" your name in it. And a big THANK YOU, to the person who bought this book, it was great reading.
