1. Here is a link that gives a great update on the hurricane activity and tracking. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Looks like a wet weekend coming.
2. I know, and I aint telling.......nana na na na na!!!!!:cool10:
3. If you plan on coming to Vogel this year this is must reading for the safety of your bike. I dont know if a gremlin bell would help you in this case. The Official "I Dropped My Bike At Vogel" Thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13886
4. I started my 2006 Tour Deluxe this morning and noticed a really strong gas smell. It turns out that fuel is coming up out of the front left carb and running down to the fairing, then out on the ground. It only does this when running, so I'm not sure if the inlet is stuck open or what may be going on. I've searched here, and tried letting it run out of fuel with the fuel cock set to off, but am not able to do much else. I'm quite incompetant when it comes to locating where these parts actually are inside the carb casing. The carbs were rebuilt by the previous owner about 2 days before I came to pick up the bike. It's ran fine for about 3-4 months now until today. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
5. I hate to sound like a pessimist, but things arent looking good for raising funds for St. Jude this year. Yes I have sold some t shirts, and I have some left. But Registrations are way down for being under 2 months from Vogel, 53 days to be exact, I need to know some numbers of how many are coming and I thought the poll would help out there, but it hasnt. I need to order the shirts and patches in about 3 weeks and with what I know know, I wont be ordering the quanities that I usually order which is 100 patches and 100 t-shirts. Raffle ticket sales have just surpassed what I spent on the 3 items I bought out of my own pocket, and we need to sell the rest which is 115 tickets. So please if you plan on coming, please go to the poll and vote, that would be a great help. And if anybody would like to help in selling raffle tickets, I would be more than happy to send some out, Send me a pm or let me know on this post if you can help. Thanks, Lewis

7. I'll be in VA the weekend they come, but Annie said to ask where folks would like to meet. Since I know there's a few of the NC members that haven't met them yet we need to find a great place for them to visit at. I'm guessing they aren't coming all the way to the coast, but she did say anywhere. I figure somewhere in the middle might be the easiest. Could have a group introduce them to some NC BBQ in Lexington maybe. Someone let me know where you'd like it to be and I'm sure Annie and Al will be following this. It's Father's day weekend 17 & 18. So come on NC we need a meet for Annie. Margaret
8. Does anyone else out there have a second gen venture that souds like a city bus coming to a stop, if so what can be done to quiet the frront brakes ? Thanks for your help
9. I had heard of Capt. Freemans flights and seen it on Discovery Channal. It is a sad day when an article such as this is soo true. Our youth and media have forgotten the heroic actions and sacrafcices of those who of previous generations. You're a 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam . It's November 11, 1967. LZ (landing zone) X-ray. Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in. You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day. Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter. You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it. Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you. He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway. Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway. And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board. Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety. And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!! Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm. He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey. Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise , Idaho May God Bless and Rest His Soul. I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure seen a whole bunch about Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods and the bickering of congress over Health Reform. Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman Shame on the media !!! Now... YOU pass this along. Honor this real hero.

13. I already have a room reserved at the Comfort/Quality Inn for the 3rd and 4th. My Daughter will not be coming with me now so if anyone wants to share the room and cost let me know...Karl
14. I decided over the past week to make it to Don's maintenance day this year and have made arrangements to get the time off work. The plan so far is to take the 87 VR if I get this years redo re-done by then. That would allow me to drag the camping trailer and camp out at Don's. If not i'll be taking the 2007 Midnight Venture loaner that we require getting a room since it does not have a trailer hitch. I plan on riding up on Thursday and back on Sunday and was wondering who might be coming through Atlanta on the way that might want to hook up to ride up together.

I want to make sure that I order enough food. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=220&day=2011-6-4&c=1

I know many of our RT and PGR members may have been notified, however I have posted this here for all whom may wish to know of another one of our Nation's Heroes is finally coming home after 40 years. http://www2.independenttribune.com/news/2011/mar/15/5/cabarrus-soldiers-remains-identified-returning-hom-ar-864849/ Also to ask if any member in the Kannapolis, NC area would be willing to allow some of us VR and RT member their assistance to camp out for a night, maybe 2. 21. My sources in Ontario tell me that Canada is implimenting a new program to reduce new claims for Welfare. Apparently, starting this coming Monday, a claim forms will be printed only in English..... Now if that don't beat all....

23. dingy

You got a present coming. First one to guess what it is, beside you, gets something to be determined later. Won't be much though. Gary
24. Contrary to what we were led to believe last fall, this winter (so far) is turning out to be a lot nicer. Yesterday's high was 14 Celcius. Forecast for the up coming 14 days is looking pretty good. During my short 2 block walk for lunch today I saw 4 guys on bikes. With any luck I will get a chance to get out on the scoot over the coming weekend!
