I am interested in getting a Driver's backrest as I do have some lower back problems from time to time and find that occasionally I have to pull over and lay out on the ground it hurts so bad. I know what causes my back pain and try to avoid it the best I can and usually I do okay. I am thinking, after talking to a few people that use them and reading a LOT about them, that this would be a wise addition for me. So, if you have one that you are not going to use anymore; for example if you are selling your bike and don't mind taking the backrest you have on there off to sell it to me that would be terrific! My preference would be for a DiamondR or Utopia backrest (or one that is comparable that will not requiring drilling into the bike for installation and has some adjustable). It would be a bounus if it is of the pillow-top type, but I won't be too picky. I have an 01 RSV. If you have one that you would be willing to sell me, let me know what you've got, condition (a picture would be fine too) and what you want for it and I am sure we can agree to a reasonable price. Good evening, I'm sure this question has been asked before but, does anyone know where I could get a quick release passenger backrest for my 05 RSTD. I have tried most places I could think of other than the dealer(saving that for last). If anyone knows or where or has one for sale please let me know. Thanks Reno

I have friend with an '83 standard that has come up with a Markland backrest in pretty good shape. The problem is that he does not have the mounts. I seem to remember from mine that the Markland mounts actually provided a small "ledge" that the rest sat and pivoted forward on, and it was held on by a center screw on each side, unlike the Ventureline that has clips or clevis pins. Ok.....I'm about finished piecing together a Markland backrest I've been working on. The pivots were my problem and I got it worked out to what I show in the pics. My question is did the Markland use a knob and stud as a tightening device you could do by hand or was it just a bolt to hold the pivot together like I have done. Can anybody provide a pic or two of the pivot? I used a threaded spacer bushing with nylon washers on either side of the pivot disk on the support arms and metal washer that fits over the smaller side of the bushing to compress the nylons a bit. No rattle, smooth tilt action, but is it the way it should be? Trying to get it right. Mike -
Here's the deal; I WANT to keep my stock seat on my 06 Venture but I WANT passenger armrests built into the passenger backrest. I have considered just ordering the passenger backrest from Corbin but am not sure how mismatched the two materials would look. Has anyone done this. I know Diamond R offers the bolt on's and while they are nice they are not what I'm looking for. I also E-mailed Mustang Seats to ask if they made anythig for the Venture, I got an Email back that said we do not and have no plans to in the future? What gives with that? As always thanks..

I am looking for a passenger backrest from a 83-85 Venture. I do not need the trunk. I don't care what condition the leather or padding is in. I am going to discard this. I primarily need the plastic shell that leather is attached to . I have an idea to modify this to allow for speakers to be mounted into backrest similar to a HD Ultra Classic Electra Glide. I have an Amish leather shop nearby that has done work for me in the past that can do custum work. If you have one that I can get cheap please contact me. Dingy -
I found a 2003 yamaha roadstar windshield in the local want ads, but would have to drive about 110 miles to pick it up, so I thought I would ask everyone in here first. Does anyone know if it will fit my 97 Royal Star Tour Deluxe? I have the four mounting bolts and lowers. WIll these holes line up properly? I also need a backrest, so if anyone knows where to get an inexpensive version, please let me know. Thanks for any assistance and insights. Robert -
I am in dire need of a screw to hold the Venture Royale Logo on the front of my 1986. If anyone has one or more they would part with, please let me know. Also, I am looking for the hex nuts for holding a backrest on the swivel point on the frame.

Hello Everyone: I'm the new guy on the block here I suppose. On Saturday I picked up my "new to me" 2006 RSTD. After putting on around 600 miles so far with my wife on the back, the stock seat just might be ok. After much moving around I seemed to find a sweet spot that wasn't torturing my tail bone. Anyway, here's my question (finally). I put a Utopia backrest on our 98 goldwing and my wife found that it really restricted her room on the back so does anybody have any input as to how their wife feels with the Utopia on the bike. Hello 1st genners, I need a favor from you folks. Russ in Lowpoint Illinois was good enough to pick me up a backrest for my '89 Venture. The pad is definitely venture with the large V on it, but I fear the mounting brackets are for a Goldwing. Could some of you folks take pics of your backrests so I can see how they mount and how the backrest attaches to the support bar....much appreciated

What is the single most favorite modification you've made to your bike? Was it a cup holder for your water, or a Dyna 3000, new pipes, LED lighting... trailer hitch? What's the one thing you can't go without, and if you bought a new bike now it would be the first thing you do? For my last bike, for me it was The FAIC pipe I put on it. Had I of known what I know now, I would have done that first thing.. I put pullback risers on it first mod, but it wasn't the best thing I did to it. For this bike, I'm still not sure, but I'm thinking backrest will be the first thing I do, but I doubt in the long run it will be my favorite.

Got the backrest today via UPS. It took me longer to get a drill and bit than it did to install it. The only criticism I might have is that there was no lock nut on the screw to adjust the forward/backward setting. Since it was VERY easy to turn the screw by hand, I wonder if it will vibrate and continually be out of adjustment ?? Not really a big deal, should be able to find a nut at the local hardware. It sure is PURTY tho --

I guess I was having a good day last week because I ordered a drivers backrest for my RSTD, the only problem is its for a Venture. Than to make things worse I tried to install it not knowing it was for a venture that didn't work, so any body out there needs a Diamond R drivers backrest I have one for sale. The only thing wrong with it is I ground the points off the part that bolts to the bike, it doesn't affect anything. Will sell for 190.00 plus shipping cost me 248.00 with shipping or will trade. Is by any chance anyone looking for a stock studded midnight passengers backrest.???...took ours off the 04 and replaced with corbin a while back and this one is just taking up room...collecting dust..time to go!! excellent condition........if interested make us an offer and shoot us a pm.

So this morning after my first appointment at the chiropractor I took my bike to be serviced. It was gonna be a few hours so they offered me a goldwing to take for a ride. I did and they are nice bikes, great power and nicely built. After putting 120 miles on the 08 wing I'm now positive it's not the bike for me. However after looking at some of there ventures I noticed one, an 07 exactly like mine except it had about every acc. known to man on it. I was starting to miss my bike so I took a seat. The back pain immediately started to dissipate! So I said I gotta take a look at this backrest. Flip it over and it says utopia on it. OK I've heard of these looks like a quality backrest. Bike is finished so I rush home to beg mama to let me have one please o please baby I'll never ask for anything again the rest of my life! She says if it will help you ride further and longer get one. Placed the order about 60 seconds later. Can't wait for this sucker to come. They said the build and ship date is June 1. Cool!!! Now how long should I wait until I tell her I need cruiser pegs to help my back pain. hehe I seriously love that women.

Yesterday I joined a 3000 bike spring ride and spotted what I thought was a 1st gen venture. as I got closer riding down the line I saw the Suzuki nameplate on it and that it was what looked like 20% larger in scale in all directions as well as having not only a nice back seat and backrest, but a backrest that went up and then had a headrest! The wife tapped me on the shoulder and said, That looks really comfortable! What Suzuki is that? No I did not snag a photo. We went to the ride without a camera:smilies6:

Just bought hitch,higher backrest & ignition power box from fib 78 . Fits great and looks great!. Hope to be able to use it this week to see how the new bike pulls my trailer. Hope backrest helps wife's back and sore legs or if not yet we will hopefully be going back to a Venture(1st OR 2nd) not sure but won't be this year.Have to wait and see how the economy gets and how mine and the wife's jobs hold out.

Is there such a thing out there? I sold my RoadSofa and got some pillow tops. I think I miss the backrest but don't want a fixed one. Is there a folding one out there?

Utopia Driver Backrest

Hey Guys, Will a Utopia backrest for a RSV not work on a RSTD? I just assumed that since they both have the same frame design and basic seat fitment, that they mounted the same. However in looking at their installation information, it appears that the backrest attaches to the bottom of the passenger seat. I think I may have advised someone wrongly, so I need some info fast. I thought my wife was going to take the course and ride the bike-but no way hosay. Can't ride two bikes (at least not at the same time). Need to sell my 2007 V-Star 1300 tourer. Has about everything including cruise control. Only 4700 miles and looks like new. Will take $8400 or for $400 more will add a Mustang seat with backrest (everyone knows what those things sell for). If anyone knows someone that might be interested, just send me an email.
