1. Recently I split the fairng to install Sat Radio & GPS. I removed the tape deck to make a storage pocket and installed a 3 way spliiter for the aux connection. What I found out was that I could hear my Sat Radio fine until I plugged the audio cord into my GPS and then I could not hear the Sat Radio. Is there no way I can listen to SatRadio and have the GPS vocie over when turns come up? Anyone have a similiar experience / fix for this.
2. While at a Rally this past weekend, a HD owner cranked up his radio. Oh my does that radio Rock!!! Would replacing the speakers in mine help any? Craigr
3. had my radio taken out and sent in to claireon does any body know about how long it takes to get it back:icon_smile_question
4. I have been lurking on the forum for sometime picking up info on various things. However, I have a question and need some help with the answer. I have a 2009 RSTD and my wife and I like to wear half helmets. What are my options for audio between the two of us. I am not really interested in cb, radio or cd. I would just like to be able to talk while going down the road. Thanks for any help in advance.
5. Is there somewhere online I can purchase intercom adaptor cables that hook into the connectors on the bike? What is manufacturer and part number? Also, what then do I need to adapt those to earbuds? I've read that the Sony EX71SLB work nice and are comfy. I'm thinking of doing this more for my wife so she can hear the radio while riding on back. Am I on the right track here....if she's plugged into rear connector will speakers still have sound?
6. Has anyone else had a problem with radio interferance. Sitting in my driveway and the radio went nuts, noticed that the neighbour was using his table saw, when he turned it off the radio was OK..then went he turned it back on the inferance returned....even when the radio volume was turned off...is this normal John
7. Went for a short ride last night and all of a sudden realized my Sirius radio wasn't working, yet it was fine on Saturday when we were out. Anyone have one of these....are they prone to crapping out all of a sudden? It's only a year old. I haven't delved into it yet so not sure if it's the radio or the power source or what. I run the power off the aux power supply in the fairing and that is working so it might be the power convertor itself ... drats!! now I'll have to split the fairing (again) to check it.
8. My Venture Royale does not have a CB Radio. thirdbike (from classifieds) will sell me the control unit and the transformer/filter piece that fits to it. What else do I need to add a CB to my bike? -Vinny
9. Sorry to repost this one folks.. My radio bit the dust the other week and still no dice trying to get it to work. I put my buddy's radio in it and that works.. so i know my unit it dead or something is amiss with that box. Does anyone know what the YELLOW banded cable does? When I pulled the connectors apart to take the radio out, the protective outter cap came off, so I'm wondering if perhaps I broke something in there etc etc..
10. I've been looking at purchasing the J&M CB Radio. Does anyone have experience with this product? The only thing I'm concerned about is the dual mode one for two riders with all the necessary wiring, head sets, antinnia can cost up to $700! Any thoughts suggestions? Thanks Mark
11. Oh fer croid's sake.. lol Since the bike is out of action for a coupla days I went and 'washed it' and promptly broke it again.. gremlins do vex me. After washing the bike the radio speakers were crackling.. odd sound, I thought it was just perhaps static because I was bringing the bike into the garage.. But when I turned the bike back on to check something the radio would not come online at all.. no audio/ radio / CB or another.. the controller is stone cold dead.. next please. I'm thinking something got really wet and shorted out.. Does anyone know where the fuse is for the radio?
12. Big problem, last week my radio and cb quit working. To be more specific my speakers and headset will play a radio station but at a volume one can barely hear(must turn bike off). 1. All Controls work on handle bar control(just not loud enough) Must be on 30 to barely hear. 2. Audio fuses check out good. 3. Cleaned and dielectric greased ALL connections under fairing including radio ground and the red, yellow, white and blue booted connections. 4. Took controler apart and dielectric greased connection and bypassed volume control knob with no change in volume Question... Where in the heck is the amplifier on this bike? I have yet to find one.
13. I would like to listen to radio on my RSTD. I bought an IMC intercom which has a radio connection. I ran the wire under the fuel tank to my handlebars, so I could mount my iphone and use it for internet radio. It works, but only sitting still. It has so much engine noise in it that you cannot hear the radio. I'm interested in what others do.
14. I've been offered an '08 RSV. I WANT IT! Outside of getting the financing for my new toy [always fun], I'm looking at what other stuff I'm going to need for it. Top of the list is a helmet/headset set up so I can use the cb/cassette deck. 650 Customs don't come with these lil goodies. I have not gotten anything of the kind installed on my Wee Beastie as yet so I don't have any of the gear needed for this. All of my research into RSV's has been into the bike itself and not the add ons/oem equipment like the radio/cb systems. I don't know if the current owner's gear will fit me [providing he'll sell it] so I'm looking at what I need to get for it. Oh Fun! Any help, info, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated. I will be figuring out a way to install a Sirius Sat Radio on the bike and adding that to the sound system. Normally I will ride with either a full or flip face helmet but that might change when I'm finally behind a full fairing/windshield. But I won't be riding in anything less than a 3/4. Here's hoping everything works out and I'll have my new wheels in time for my so-called vacation this summer!
15. I was looking at purchasing the J&M radio for my RSTD but I was shocked on how much they cost! I wanted the unit for dual riders and it's $359.00! Is it made of gold or something? Does anyone have any experiece with this unit and how do you like it? Can you give me the Good and the Bad about this unit? Does the am/Fm radio work good? I use a shorty helmet a Scorpin 100 and I was concerned about wind noise and the microphone...is that an issue with this product. Any information, good or bad would be appreciate greatly. Thanks mark:think:
16. I want to tie the audio output from a navigation system to the audio system of the motorcycle. It needs to mute the radio when it talks. Since we always use headsets the audio through the headsets is the ideal solution. Essentially, I want it to act like a 3rd mic on the intercom. That way it mutes the radio and we hear it through the headsets. I'm wondering if I can't piggy back it onto one of the headset mics using a circuit similar to the one in the drawing. Sure would appreciate input from the electronics wizards.
17. It seems as if my radio comes and goes when listening threw the headsets also when it is working the volume has to be turned up more than without headsets. I think there is two settings for IC volume and Radio volume. I also noticed the CB was recieving or doing something because the RX would light up by the headset symbol. Any ideas as to what is going on or is there a certain way to set things up??? Thanks
18. After replacing the battery a few days ago, I had to redo my presets on the radio. I know about holding the up or down button to scan up or down to the next station and that is what I normally do. But the other day, I did something, don't know what, that let me manually scroll the dail up to the station I wanted without having to stop at every signal the radio received. Anyone have any idea what I did to put the radio in "manual" mode? I have tried several things but cannot get it to replicate.
19. Sorry if this has been discussed before, I have seen some threads that comment on this issue but they do not seem to be exactly the issue I have. I picked up my 2009 Venture on Saturday and drive it home (120 miles) and the radio worked fine. Today I went out and I turn the bike on and the radio comes on, same station I had it on when I turned it off, however the controller has no information displayed and none of the buttons work, therefore I can't turn it down, turn it off, change the station and worse yet can't turn down the volume. I really don't want to drive 120 miles back to find out I could have flipped a switch here or there or did a quick fix ... so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it! Thanks and I am happy to be a new member. Keith
20. Here are a couple of pics with an AMBER Crystal on the rear of the blinker housing with a Amber LED on it's own stuck into it. wired off the Custom Dynamics Led Cluster. I had all this attached to a 12 volt power source in my den with an extra blinker housing that I had to experiment with. and to show better pictures of it turned on. SUPER BRIGHT. I used the advice from human4m on the other project I was working on and he suggested to use FENDER JEWEL's for an amp , the cost was $2.99 each. and about the same size as the red one's from Radio Shack. And no my belly is not that large , it is the reflection off the rounded domed chrome housing it does look like a huge beer belly though. Here is the Original Link for the Radio Shack Mod. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45100 NOTE: I did use the black threaded ring off the Radio Shack light, and had to enlarge the hole I already had just a small amount. 21. Twice in the past month I have experienced what I will call a cb/radio freeze on my 06 RSV. I always ride with my cb on to communicate with my riding partner. During the ride I decided to turn the radio on to listen to some tunes but nothing would work? The unit remained functional on the cb channel selected but I could not change the channel, turn on the radio or even turn everything off. The only function that worked was the volume control. When the ignition switch had been turned off during a gas stop upon restarting the bike the unit functioned normally again. Did not take it to the dealer since everything was working fine but now it has happened once again. Anyone else ever experience this radio/cb freeze up?
22. Hello everyone This past weekend I installed Kuryakyn's 4710 run turn and brake controller on stock signals and also installed the signal dynamics light bar and now when i ride my radio cuts out and starts to squeal maybe two or three time per song randomly. I payed attention and no certain thing I do causes it.When I got back from my test ride I let my bike sit in the garage and left the radio playing and it wouldn't do it while just sitting there. Any suggestions?????
23. Just recieved my CB radio for my 83Venture, (Pinwall) I am in need now of the radio manual and the pinouts to the audio control:think: . If any one has the book or info it would be greatly appreciated Mike R in Calgary..
24. Anyone use one of these "Harley Davidson XM Satelite Radio Road Tech 76390-05A" for their XM radio? If so, can you plug it into the auxiliary in the tape deck and adjust volume with the RSV's radio controls? I am looking for something weather proof and I found one of the "Road Techs" NIB with all the "stuff" it comes with for $150. If it would work on my RSV, looks like a good buy, maybe? I know nothing about satellite radios, except I will need to buy a monthly subscription. Could I get the "Road Tech" (if it will work on the RSV) and get the XM subscription with not much trouble? And are they worth a hoot? Thanks in advance, Bryan
